Daisy:

Hours ago:

I get up from my spot on the bed and head towards the door. Placing my hand on the knob, I twist it open and step out into the empty hallway.

The house is quiet. The silence making my breaths echo.

I have to find something. I need to be useful in this investigation.

Gathering my resolve I make my way down the hallway.

Now that Kaiden and his men are occupied with a threat I can snoop without interruption. This time I won't run into Alex and his ominous words.

Goosebumps prickle my skin when I recall his cold gaze and the stillness of the house only adds to my uneasiness.

My path diverges into another hallway. I twist the handle of doors as I pass them.

Nothing.

How am I to find something when Kaiden has this place like a bank vault?

I grumble when another door proves to be locked. Reaching the end of this hallway I go down the stairs, softening my footsteps.

I hear the hum of conversation leaking from behind a door further down the corridor and creep to

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   Silent Pulses

Daisy: Present time: Kaiden scans the files, growing tenser with each passing moment. I still sit on his lap, within the circle of his arms as he reads them over my shoulder. The silence is heavy when he finishes and closes the last one. It crinkles loudly as he clutches it tight in his fists and when he places it with the others I see that it has been stained with blood from the injury in his palm. I reach forward to reclean the wound but his palms grip my hips, lifting me off him and placing me on the couch. His back expands as he takes in deep breaths, running his blood-stained hand through his hair before clutching the back of his head. An ache spreads through my chest as I watch him come to terms with the fact that he is being stolen from. Again. "Kaiden," I choke out, not knowing what else I can say. His hand falls limply to his side and I stare at the bloody handprint on his neck. I approach him cautiously, like one would approach a cornered beast, taking hi

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   The Shadow Tightens

Kaiden: "Fuck," I roar. I rush back to Kostas and pull him to his feet ignoring his groans of pain. Throwing his arm over my shoulder, I clutch my hand on his uninjured side and continue moving. Alex breaks away and joins me at his other side, taking some of the weight off me. With that, we stumble after the others as the fire bursts into the room. "Where the hell did the bullet come from? The whole place is going up in flames." Alex yells, he tries to look over his shoulder to catch a glimpse of the shooter but Kostas trips over his feet. With a grunt I right our steps, "No time for that, let's just focus on making it out of here." I instruct. He nods determinedly and we trudge forward. Kostas coughs and blood stains his lips. "Hey, you aren't dying. Understand?" I shout at him. His head lolls to the side as he blearily looks up at me and bares his blood-stained teeth in a smile. "The shooter was slightly off the mark, the bullet just hit his side when it was meant t

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   Cassanova Pt 2

Kaiden:Gunfire erupts in the dimly lit club, the deafening crack of pistols cutting through the bass-heavy music. The top floor is empty except for the slumped body of an unknown man by the wall.I rush to the balcony and look down at the dance floor, watching the frantic movement of the civilians as they simultaneously try to head towards the exit and protect themselves from gunfire.Kostas chuckles behind me, "I see that things aren't going as planned. Whatever shall you do?"I ignore the bait as I look for my men among the chaos. The strobe lights make it hard to discern between faces. The once vibrant dance floor has been turned into a battlefield. Finally, I see Alex pushing through the crowd as he evades two gunmen. Luckily for him, the push and pull of the crowd prevent them from taking a clear shot.Lifting my gun, I aim at one of the men. His head explodes as my bullet finds its target, I immediately turn my gun to the next target and he quickly joins his dead partner."How

Kaiden: We reach the club in record time. I get out of the car and head towards the back where Ivan is waiting. "You got your eye on him?" I ask as an introduction. "Thank you, Ivan for pulling my head out of my ass by finding Kostas," he replies sarcastically. I roll my eyes at the attitude. "Is he here or not?" "Last I checked." Ivan runs his eyes over my frame, no doubt noticing the weapons strapped on my person. "That's a bit much, don't you think?" He frowns in disapproval. "Don't ask me to save you when there's a gun to your head," I cross my arms stubbornly. We have no idea what we are walking into and I would prefer to be prepared than have another bullet in my gut. "Maybe they'll think we're bouncers for some high end celebrity or some shit." I explain but I honestly could not care less. The time for caring has long passed and I'm tired of feeling like a fool who doesn't know how to manage his business. Someone clears their throat behind me and I look ov

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   Headshot

I lead Daisy outside. Through the gardens and outside the fence. Her steps slow down as we approach the forest. I quirk an eyebrow at her over my shoulder and she lifts one in response, distrust shining in the deep pools of her eyes. Scoffing out a laugh I ask, "Really? You think I'm going to kill you. Here, of all places." "I don't know, Kaiden." She throws her hands up in frustration. "You brought me out to a forest of all places, for shooting lessons and no one else is in sight." Daisy ends her words with a glare. I roll my eyes at the dramatics and tug the gun from my waistband, handing it to her with the barrel facing me. She eyes the revolver, her mouth turning down when I shake it at her before she takes it from my hand. "Familiarise yourself with it," I instruct. I turn from her and walk to a tree a few paces in front. "Then shoot at this tree and try to hit it." At that, Daisy pins me with an incredulous look. "Gee thanks, that was really helpful Kaiden."
