The night before my engagement day, I sat across from my parents, who looked at me with piercing eyes, who I expected several words of advice from.

My father began, "As a man, you must always strive for greatness. If you marry Cassandra, a lowly nurse, you'll be making a grave mistake. You'll regret your decision for the rest of your life. Cassandra is not worthy of you. Look at you, Eden. You're a scholar, a owner of a tech company, look at who you want to end your life with? A nurse? A lowly one as of that?”
