CHAPTER 1

Della's POV

Life is something unprecedented. Family is a gift which I'm certain any individual would need. At the point when you're a kid, your parents should shield you from whatever might hurt or scare you. They should give you love and let you in on that you have them.

As far back as I can recollect, my folks have given me the direct opposite. To be more exact... my mom and stepfather. Rather than wishing me wonderful dreams, they reviled me with bad dreams. As opposed to much love, I got punches and kicks.

I don't know what I did wrong for them to give me that treatment and disdain me so much, however I had figured out how to simply manage it. Particularly when a wonderful green-peered child was born into the family. Indeed, on the off chance that you might call us that.

At last, I figured out how to move us away from those terrible individuals I called parents. All was great and we were happy, yet happiness doesn't keep going long.

He was the start of my nightmares.

I simply wish somebody would've let me know what my life would come to. Perhaps then I could never have decided to trust him. I wouldn't be hauling my seven-year-old girl out at 2am simply to move away from him...

"Come on, bubbles. Rush!" I briskly shout as I pull Daisy towards the vehicle by her hand.

"Mom…I dropped Tom!" She cries back to me while I put her in the backseat and immediately lock her in.

I would have rather not returned in, terrified of what could occur however she adored Tom. Since I got him for her, she has become very attached to him. She had Tom through every one of the difficult stretches so without one more thought, I ran once again into the house.

I saw the toy immediately when I went into the living room. He was by the side of the sofa. I ran rapidly to the horse toy and right as I twisted down to get him, I was hit with a smack to the face.

I fell on my back and gazed at the man with sickening dread as he bounced on me and got my throat with his hands. My own hands got his, attempting to pry them away with no repercussion

.

"Where the fuck do you think you're going? You want to simply leave me?!" He asked while fixing his grasp on my neck.

My vision became foggy and I began seeing dark spots all over the place. I scanned the ground with my hands for whatever I might use for my potential benefit. I felt my hand contact a lamp that had been pushed over before, so I got it in a firm grasp and utilized my entire strength to hit him in the face.

He fell sideways, gripping his bleeding face in his grasp and moaning in torment. In an attack of hacking and attempting to take in some air, I wasted no time in getting Tom and running out of the house, staggering on my way towards the vehicle.

I gave Daisy the soft toy and closed her entryway before I tossed my cellphone across the road, hurried to the drivers' side, and bounced in. In the wake of beginning the vehicle, I put it in drive and hit the gas.

I'll simply get another telephone when we're long out of California.

I don't have any idea where we would go yet it doesn't make any difference to me at the present time. What is important is that we're gone and we will begin a new life. Without even looking back, I drove off into the night, heading to any place the street might take us.

*Four Days Later*

We have at long last shown up in New York. I attempted to take as little stops as conceivable in dread that he considered following and making up for lost time to us.

I've scarcely gotten any rest since we left California so relief in a flash fills my body when I spot our destination.

I step out of the vehicle after maneuvering into an apartment building. Opening the back door, I unfasten Daisy's safety belt and help her out of the vehicle while she grips firmly onto Tom.

"Alright, bubbles. Hold my hand and don't let it go." I say while snatching her minuscule hand in mine and strolling with her into the apartment’s office.

When we get to the front desk, a  lady welcomes us delicately, "Hi, what might I do for you today?"

"Umm... I want to lease a condo. Do you have an accessible one with two rooms?" I ask her apprehensively.

"Indeed, ma'am. I have an accessible two-room, one-shower loft, and no pets permitted. The lease is 1,000 900 fifty every month." She tells me while grinning pleasantly.

Wow!!! That is right around 2,000 bucks. If I were to be alone, I'd simply rest in the vehicle however I have an innocent child to consider. My goodness, for what reason does New York need to be so costly?

Breathing in profoundly, I focus on Daisy prior to glancing back at the woman,

"I'll take it. Might I at any point move in today?"

"Yes you can immediately you are done with the paper works." She answers reluctantly with wrinkled eyebrows.

I shake my head and take out 200 bucks. I hand the money to her while saying, "Look, I urgently need to move in today. Can you save me the time and stress this one time, please?"

She looks down at Daisy who is taking cover behind me while holding my leg firmly with one arm. Then, at that point, she looks back up at me and slides the cash back towards me.

"Loft 403, Building C, second floor." She says while pulling a key from a cabinet and giving it to me.

I grin thankfully at her as I take the key and put 200 bucks in my pocket. Then I snatch Daisy's hand once more and lead her back towards the vehicle with me.

After to bringing everything into our apartment - which wasn't much, I lock each of the doors on the front entryway and head into the kitchen where Daisy has already taken a seat at the table. A little round wooden table was already placed here when we moved in.

Sitting down close to her on the other wooden seat, I slant my head and ask, "Would you like something to eat, bubbles?"

"Yeah." She answers while looking down at the somewhat dusty table.

"Well... I could order some pizza." I recommend with a cocked eyebrow, knowing how much she cherishes pizza.

She rapidly livens up and is for all intents and purposes leaping off of her seat, "With additional pepperoni?"

"Extra, extra, extra pepperoni." I say stimulating her sides, making her giggle aloud.

She chuckles as I stop to kiss her brow and snatch my new cellphone. Hauling it out of my pocket, I look into the location of closest pizza spot and request us a huge pizza.

After around thirty minutes, there's a knock on the front door and I take out some money. At the point when I get to the front door, I pause and glance through the peephole. Seeing that it is without a doubt a man conveying our food, I let out a breath of air.

When I pay for the pizza and we are done with eating, I lay on the bed and snatch a cover. When we got here, I looked for a store and got us a mattress so we wouldn't need to rest on the floor. I set down with Daisy and my body at last unwinds.

"Mommy, can you please sing the rainbow rhyme to me?" She asks gently while cuddling closer to my side.

I run my fingers through her hair and shut my eyes as I murmur, "obviously I can, bubbles."

Singing the tune that she loves to hear before bed in some cases, it doesn't take long for her to nod off. I fold my arm over her little body and immediately float off into a profound rest.
