Selena's POV at Giordano's mansion

“Shit!”

I jerked upright, Papi’s voice screaming from the hallway woke me up, my heart slamming into my ribs. My hand flew straight to my bra, fingers digging in until I felt it—the napkin. Still there. Crumpled. Damp with sweat. But intact.

Thank God.

The note had been short. Messy handwriting. Grease stain on the edge.

"Kitchen. 4 PM sharp. I can help."

No name. Just that.

I exhaled shakily and looked around. I was still curled up on the little pink sofa in Papi’s room. Same soft toy against my leg. Same light hum of music outside the window. Same feeling of being trapped in a damn gold cage.

My head spun.

I’d been sleeping too much lately. Weak all the time. Could barely keep food down.

Stress, probably. Or poison.

Hell, maybe pregnant.

Please don’t let it be that. Please not for Lucas. Not in this damn place.

The door creaked. I jolted.

Papi peeked his head in, grinning like a thief.

“You sleep like a doll,” he said. “Like one of Mama’s old

Katarina POV...I didn’t even hear the door creak open. I was too busy choking on my own moans, legs trembling, Vittorio’s hands fisted in my hair while he pounded into me like the war between us was under my skin now. The mirror fogged. My breath left streaks down the glass. And then— A breath. A sound. My moan caught in my throat like a punch. I turned—hair clinging to my face, sweat dripping between my breasts. And there he was. Valentino. Framed in the doorway like a fucking dream turned wrong. His shirt half-open, pants low on his hips, eyes drowning in something dangerous. His stare landed on my body—my naked skin stretched tight against Vittorio’s grip, our bodies locked, still connected. Still full. Still moving. He looked broken. And hungry. And so goddamn lost it made my heart twist and my pussy clench all over again. His mouth parted slightly, like he wasn’t sure if this was a hallucination or a punishment. His eyes—those tortured, green-gold eyes—landed on me first.

Katarina – POVHis grip was fire.Rough fingers wrapped around my throat, pulling me into a kiss so deep I tasted his anger. Smoke. Whiskey. Lust. The man kissed like he wanted to destroy every memory of the cop downstairs. And I let him. Hell, I opened my mouth and gave it right back.Then—rip.My nightgown split open like paper, the fabric falling off my shoulders, baring my breasts to the chilled air and his seething eyes. My nipples tightened instantly. I knew what he liked. I wore white—white lace panties, barely-there and soaked through. I’d caught him sniffing them a day ago when he thought I wasn’t looking.“You wore these on purpose,” he growled against my neck, voice gravel and heat.I didn’t answer. I just smirked. Then I shoved him. Hard.He hit the bed with a grunt, chest rising fast, hair mussed, eyes dark.“What the hell are you—”I climbed on him, straddling his waist, and yanked his belt from his pants with one sharp pull.Click. Snap.“Kat—” he warned, but I was alr

Katarina POV Outside Velmorra“Burn it.”That’s all he said. Cold. Flat. Final. Then he turned and walked off like I didn’t exist—like I hadn’t just brought a goddamn cop into his home.Vittorio’s boots echoed up the stairs, each step loud and furious. His back was tight. His jaw, locked. I saw it. The kind of anger that didn’t come with shouting—just silence and the promise of war.Lucas stood there like a ghost. His hands were stained. His knuckles were still white around the handle of the knife. His eyes didn’t blink.“You okay?” I asked, voice low.He didn’t answer right away.I moved closer. The air between us smelled like copper, sweat, and burnt dust.“I’ve seen death before,” he whispered. “But that man… Vittorio? He looked at me like I wasn’t real. Like I was already dead.”I nodded once. “He does that.”Lucas dragged in a shaky breath. “He scares the shit out of me.”“Good,” I muttered. “Means you’re smart.”We stood there for a second. Just silence and the body between us.

Lucas POV At Velmorra My knife was still wet.The guy I stabbed was heavier than he looked—deadweight dragging through gravel like a bag of cement. My shirt clung to my chest. Blood on my forearms. Sweat soaking the back of my neck. My breath came sharp and uneven, lungs burning like I’d been sprinting through smoke.I was halfway behind the old stone shed when I heard it.Crunch. Tires. Then silence.A car door slammed.“Fuck,” I whispered, freezing mid-drag.I turned my head. And that’s when I saw her.Katarina. Standing beside the one man I’d spent the last two years collecting intel on.Vittorio Don-fucking-de Luca.I should’ve run. Should’ve dropped the body, thrown up my hands, said something clever like, “Surprise, bitch.” But no. My brain short-circuited. I just stood there, like an idiot. A knife in one hand, blood on the other, looking guilty as hell. She froze. He didn’t. His hand drifted toward his jacket—slow, calm, practiced. Death with manners.“Lucas?” Katarina st

Selena POV“Is she breathing?” “Vitals are steady.” “She lost too much blood—get her on the bed!”The sheets stuck to my back. Sweat—or the fake stuff—trickled down my spine. My ears buzzed from all the noise. Gloves snapped. Metal clinked. A tray hit the nightstand with a clatter. Something cold stabbed into my arm—IV. The smell of alcohol, iron, and panic choked the room.Hands. Everywhere. Lifting me. Voices loud. The floor was cold one second, velvet sheets the next. A light hit my face. Someone peeled my robe back. Latex gloves touched my thigh. Giordano’s voice barked orders in the background like a panicked general.“Fix her. If she dies—if she fucking dies—”“Get her robe off. Check her pupils. Start fluids.”One nurse was shaking.“I don’t see any external wound,” another said quietly. “Where’s the bleed?”“It’s... inside,” someone lied.I kept my face slack. Just a girl caught in someone else's crossfire. And Giordano? He was pacing. Sweating. Breathing too loud.“She ate

Giordano POV: At His Mansion“Papi, not now.”“I made it special, Daddy!”He shoved the tray at me—half a sandwich and some weird sweet drink. Too red. Too sugared. Probably drugged with innocence and bad ideas. I looked down at his messy handwriting on the napkin: For Daddy only. Don’t share with wife.I almost laughed.“Later,” I said, patting his head. “Go terrorize the guards.”He skipped off, humming.I didn’t touch the food. Not because I suspected the kid. But because I had other cravings today. The cellar door groaned when I opened it. Always locked. Always cold.It used to hold wine. Now?It held her.The shrine.Hidden deep beneath the house, under a wall of fake shelves and brick. Only I had the code. Only I had the key.I stepped in.Light buzzed from the single bulb overhead. The room smelled like old stone, iron, and sterile alcohol. The walls were covered in printed photos. Dozens. Hundreds. Her face. Her body. Her screams. Her moans. Katarina in every angle—from survei
