They stepped out of the shower with water still clinging to their skin, the floor damp beneath their feet. Juan grabbed a towel and tossed the other to Arya. She caught it, laughing when he leaned in to kiss her before she had even begun drying off. His lips were warm, and the kiss deepened fast, his hand resting at the back of her neck.

“Juan,” she murmured against his mouth, though her arms went up around him anyway.

He kissed her harder, pressing her back against the wall. The towel slipped from her hand and dropped to the floor in a wet heap. His hand slid along her side, and her breath caught as she held on tighter.

“We’re supposed to be getting ready for bed,” she said when he finally pulled back.

He smiled and brushed his thumb across her cheek. “We are.”

“That’s not what it feels like.”

“Then maybe you’re imagining things,” he said, kissing her once more before stepping back. He picked up her towel and put it in her hands, grinning when she smacked his chest lightly.

It was only a few minutes to midnight, and only God knew how nervous Juan was. The ground was uneven where they crouched, scrub scratching at their boots and damp soil sticking to their knees.“Check your straps,” he said, clicking his own belt once to test the small pack at his hip. His voice came low, almost swallowed by the night. The men adjusted their belts and packs quickly, tugging straps and patting them down to be sure. They gave quick nods after.“Ready,” Dominic said, pulling at the band on his wrist until it sat tight, then glancing toward the dark outline of the plant. He slid his hand over the bolt cutters at his side, testing the grip.“Signal on me,” Juan said, lifting his chin toward the river road where Marco waited with the truck.A pale blink of light flickered in the distance and grew smaller as one of the men shifted into position. Juan’s chest tightened a little at the sight. They moved forward slowly, their boots bare on purpose, the cold earth pressing into th

"Are you nervous about tomorrow night?" Arya asked as she and Juan both stepped into the room. She pulled off her top, and then her pants followed. She was no longer ashamed of being naked with Juan in the room with her. Juan smiled, not able to keep his eyes off her. "I think I was more nervous that you would insist on coming along with us.""I'll he more useful here than there,' she sighed. "I can barely aim well with a gun— that reminds me, you haven't been training me.""Right?" Juan said, watching as she walked towards the bathroom. He took of his clothes too and walked right behind her. She turned on the shower and then stepped in, and steam began to rise around them. She leaned her back against the wall and let the warm water wash down her skin as Juan came closer. His hand brushed against her arm, and then her side, and she didn’t move away. He pressed his lips to her neck, kissing slowly before meeting her mouth. She kissed him back, her fingers resting on his chest, but th

“So the plan is simple—cut the power, slip inside, kill Giuseppe, take the weapons, and vanish," Dominic whistled. "Sounds okay I guess."“Simple plans fall apart fastest,” Arya said, tapping her finger against the map. “i feel like we aren't accounting for anything especially since we're mostly going in blind. What happens if Giuseppe isn’t where you expect him to be? What if he’s in one of these sheds instead of the main building? Or in the watchtowers?”Juan turned his head toward her. “Then we adapt.”“Adapt how?” she pressed. “Running blind into another building will get you caught. You need a way to track where he is before you even step in.”One of Dominic’s men shifted uneasily. “We can put eyes on him before the strike. Two of your men from the village could watch the plant during the day.”Arya nodded. “That’s better. If you know which building he’s in, you’ll save time and lives.”"Lives?" Juan snorted. "I don't necessarily have plans of saving any life of men working with

Few Hours LaterJuan opened the door wide and stepped aside as Dominic walked in with two of his men. Arya stood near Juan's desk with a cup of tea in her hand, watching them with a calm look.Dominic’s mouth curved as soon as he saw her. “Arya,” he said, drawing out her name as he set the bag on the table. “Still keeping him in line?”Arya lifted her chin and set her cup down. “Someone has to,” she said, a small smile touching her lips."You look as beautiful as always," Dominic said, still smiling. "I know.""You know, people usually say thank you.""I'm quite sure you're not here to throw compliments around and wait for thank you's," Arya said sternly. Juan snorted and then closed the door and moved to the table. “Enough,” he said, though there was no bite in his voice. “We have work to do.”He opened the briefcase and pulled out the documents Marco had given him and handed them to Dominic. Dominic gave a soft laugh and unrolled the large map across the table, pressing the edges

"Yes, two miles outside of Val D'oro. Just outside a small village, there's an old textile plant that was abandoned. It's being cleaned up as the residue chemicals caused so much harm to the villagers. A new boss is supervising it.""I'm aware of all that," Juan lied. He wasn't entirely wrong either, he just had speculations instead of the real facts. That had to mean that Giuseppe was there, in the textile plant, and the chancellor was in the village, just close enough to oversee whatever Giuseppe was doing. He wanted to control Giuseppe's base. Juan smiled. It wouldn't take long before they had a clash. Giuseppe never liked being bossed around. Betrayal was always in his heart, as long as he wasn't in total control. Marco had been slightly wrong, but it didn't mean that where he was taken to didn't have anything worth finding out about. But the way he could get to Giuseppe was by visiting the textile plant. "How long have you known?" Questioned Dominic. "A few days," Juan said,
