The drive back to the villa was in total silence.

Isabella lay cuddled in Antonio's embrace inside the limo, while Mario drove them back to the villa. The after effects of the aphrodisiac were finally getting to her, making her nauseous.

Outwardly, she appeared fine. But her thoughts and her guilt haunted her. Now that she knew what Mario felt for her, she would never see him the same way again.

He used to be her friend. The only person she could freely talk with, apart from Antonio. But with what happened last night, it was totally different now.

Things would be awkward between them. She would never feel comfortable sitting in the same room with him, knowing that he had fallen in love with her.

  • The Mafia's Dark Obsession   Chapter 103

Emilio's words echoed repeatedly in Antonio's ears, rendering him motionless. We couldn't save her... The hospital ward faded. The hallway he stood disintegrated. He barely heard Mario's voice as he argued with Emilio, refusing to believe that Isabella was dead. A sharp pain lanced through his heart and he jerked. It couldn't be. His Isabella couldn't be dead. It wasn't possible. Everything blacked out for a moment, and he felt himself suspended in midair, surrounded by darkness. He saw himself that fateful day, the day his father killed his mother right before his eyes. He saw Karina's body, lifeless, a dagger sticking into her heart. He saw his father, Salvatore, standing above her, grinning like a maddened fool, his face and chest stained with her blood. He remembered the anger that coursed through him that day. That same anger surfaced now, but it wasn't directed to anyone. It was directed to himself. Suddenly he was pulled back to reality with a jolt. Beside him, Emilio an

The moment blood soaked through Isabella's white blouse, the murderous haze surrounding Antonio's mind faded. His eyes cleared and focused on her, and that was when he saw the jagged piece of glass stuck in her chest, dangerously close to her heart. "No." He whispered, reaching out to hold her as she staggered back. Beside him, Mario stared in horror at her face, then at his hand covered in her blood. He shook his head, backing away. What had he done? Isabella felt pain shoot up her entire body. Her knees buckled and she fell backwards, but Antonio caught her. Her vision blurred, and she could faintly hear him calling out her name. She looked up at him, tears spilling down her eyes. "Antonio..." She whispered breathlessly. "I'm right here, my love." Antonio's voice shook with emotion. "I'm right here. Keep your eyes on me, okay? Keep your eyes on me..."He lifted her and hurried towards the door, yelling at Marcello to get the car. As her vision dimmed, everything seemed to hap

Isabella clutched the seat tightly as Antonio tore down the road in blind speed. He was driving back to the villa, and he didn't relent on the gas pedal. The look on his face was pure, unbridled rage. She had seen him angry before. She had seen him lose control. But this fury in his eyes was new. She had never seen him look so... possessed. His eyes were trained on the road as he zipped around the highway, maneuvering around other cars. His grip around the wheel was tight, so tight that his knuckles turned completely white. His jaw remained clenched, and his posture appeared hunched, like he was about to erupt. She had never been this terrified of him. "Antonio..." She ventured out, but the glare he shot her seized her breath. Terror took hold of her, making her cower away from him. "I don't want to hear another word from you, Isabella." He grounded out in an icy cold voice. She looked away, unable to bear the look in his eyes. She knew it would come to this someday. She knew

The next few days passed uneventfully, until the day everything started to fall apart. On the morning of that fateful day, Isabella woke up in high spirits. It was the day her exam score would be released, the day she would discover if she got accepted into NSU. Antonio wasn't in the room when she opened her eyes. She was about to get off the bed when the door opened and someone stepped in. She looked up, expecting to see Antonio. But it was Mario who stepped in. She looked away quickly before they could make eye contact. For the past few days, she had managed to stay away from him. And he did the same, keeping his distance. Now he stood by the door, holding a cup of coffee. "Good morning." He murmured. She cleared her throat and finally met his gaze. "Good morning, Mario.""Don Antonio stepped out a while ago." He said, stepping further into the room. "He wants you to get ready before he returns. He's taking you out with him."He stopped and handed the mug of hot coffee to he

  • The Mafia's Dark Obsession   Chapter 98

"Mario, what happened here last night?" Mario's heart slammed heavily in fear. He shot a sharp glance towards the bedroom where Isabella was, and then back to Antonio. Did she tell him? "I don't understand, signòre." He answered, trying to still his racing heart. "Did anything happen?!" Antonio snapped. His brows were pulled together in a deep frown, his gaze furious. "Nothing happened." Mario shook his head. His face was expressionless, but within, he could see his entire life flashing before his eyes. "Nothing happened?" Antonio repeated. He took a step closer, almost towering over Mario. "What time did you bring Isabella here?""I took a longer route, to make sure no one followed us." Mario explained in a steady voice. "We reached the penthouse an hour before midnight. She was distraught, worried about you. I calmed her and brought her up here, and she went to sleep.""And where did you stay?" Antonio questioned further. "Right here in the living room." Mario answered swiftl

The moment her lips touched Mario's, he jolted. He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her back, surprise written all over his face. "What are you doing?" His voice sounded strained, like it was suddenly difficult for him to speak. Isabella herself was stunned by what she did. She jumped off the couch and moved away from him, holding her hand out. "I..." Her voice caught, tears brimming in her eyes. What had she done? "Isabella..." Mario tried to move towards her but she held her hand higher, stopping him. "Don't." She whispered, shaking her head. "Don't come any closer. I... I don't know what came over me... I shouldn't... I'm sorry..." Her voice broke as she burst into tears. She fell to her knees, her hands covering her face, her shoulders shaking as she sobbed. The sight of her crying tore at Mario's heart. He closed the space between them and pulled her against him, his hands going round her body, stroking her back. He didn't say a word, just held her close, dropping light k

Antonio pushed Isabella behind him the moment he spotted Leonardo. The man he had been looking for. The man probably behind the threat phone calls, the accident and the bomb explosion. He glared at the necklace dangling from his fingers and felt fury twist his gut. Things just got more complicated. "Leonardo." He growled, keeping his eyes trained on him. "You finally decided to crawl out of the vile pit you've been hiding in."Leonardo laughed as he walked forward, a rich deep sound that didn't have a single humour in it. He stepped over Sebastian's lifeless body, blood coating his shoes. "Vegas mafia devil." He said, stopping a few meters away from Antonio. "How low you've sunk. There was a time your name made everyone cower for cover. But now..."He trailed off, raking his gaze over Antonio. "I'm not here for much talk." He continued, looking straight into Antonio's eyes. He lifted the necklace again, his fingers closing over the pentagram. "Hand her over to me. Now.""It was y

Vincenzo was standing with a group of men in the drawing room, laughing loudly at a joke when he spotted Antonio coming towards him. He excused himself and met him halfway, a wide smile on his face. "Don Antonio, leaving so soon?" He asked, holding out his hand for a handshake."I played my part, Vince. I came, but I can't stay until the end." Antonio replied, clasping Vincenzo's hand in a firm handshake. "It's because of the girl, isn't it?" There was an odd smile on Vincenzo's face. "I saw how you walked out on everyone back there. It was because of her, wasn't it?"Antonio pulled back from him and thrust his hands into his pocket. "What I do, and how I do it, is not your bloody business, Vince." He muttered. "I'm just voicing out what everyone is afraid to say." Vincenzo went on. "People are talking, Antonio. And you don't expect them to stay silent, not with you being vegas mafia king." "What exactly are they saying?""It's less about you, and more about your woman." Vincenz
