BELLA

I still couldn’t believe it.

Even as I sat in the car, my neatly packed bag resting on my lap, it felt surreal.

I was really going back to school. Today is the day.

I exhaled slowly, my fingers gripping the strap of my bag a little tighter.

“Are you sure you packed everything? You didn’t forget anything, right?”

Vincent’s voice pulled me from my thoughts, and when I turned to meet his gaze, I found his sharp eyes watching me closely.

Why was he doing this?

“Yes, I did,” I answered, trying to keep my voice steady. “Thanks to you, I got the timetable and everything else.”

He nodded, but his expression remained unreadable.

I hesitated.

There was something I wanted to ask him, but after everything he had already done for me, I wasn’t sure if he’d agree. Still, I had to try.

“Can I ask you for a little favor?” I finally said, my fingers fiddling with the hem of my sleeve to keep my nerves in check.

Vincent’s head tilted slightly. “Go ahead.”

I swallowed. “Can you ask the guards to st

BELLACarmen.“How long has it been since I last saw her?” I mumbled.I had disappeared without a word, not because I wanted to, but because I couldn’t bring myself to pile my problems onto her. She was my only friend, and I had abandoned her.“Carmen!” I yelled, spotting her across the hallway. Before she could react, I ran up and pulled her into a hug, holding her tightly, as if that alone could make up for my absence. She stiffened in my arms, unmoving. My smile faltered, but I refused to let go. I had missed her too much.“Get off me.”Her voice was dry, emotionless. It stung more than I expected.I released her slowly, searching her face for something but all I saw was indifference. No relief, no warmth. Just ice.“Carmen, I missed you,” I said, my voice softer now.She scoffed. Then she turned away and started walking, her steps sharp, heels stomping against the floor. She was angry. I couldn’t blame her.“Carmen, I’m sorry!” I called out, weaving through the sea of students in

BELLAThe guards dragged me back to the mansion, but my heart had already made a run for it. Fear gripped me so tightly I could barely breathe. There was no doubt in my mind that they had already filled Vincent in on what happened or at least their version of it. They’d say I tried to escape, and even though that wasn’t the truth, how could I possibly convince him otherwise when I had run from the guards?“Don is waiting for you,” one of the guards said, nodding toward the door.I swallowed hard. My legs felt like lead, but I had no choice. Taking a deep breath, I pushed the door open and stepped inside.Silence.A silence so thick, so unnatural, it sent a chill racing down my spine. My gaze snapped forward, and there he was.Vincent.He was sitting in his chair, one leg crossed over the other, but his entire body was rigid, his fingers gripping the armrest like he was seconds away from snapping it in half. His aura had shifted completely, gone was the controlled, charming man I had s

VINCENTWhy couldn’t she just fucking listen? All she had to do was obey, but no, she had to push, to test me, to defy me.And now look where that got her.I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling sharply. I never wanted to lose control, but she drove me there. Even then, I knew when to stop. If I hadn’t, she would have passed out.I leaned against the wall, the distant sound of her ragged sobs filtering through the closed door. My jaw clenched.I should probably get her out now.Pushing off the wall, I stepped back into the dimly lit room. The scent of sweat and faint traces of blood lingered in the air. She was curled up, her body trembling with each broken sob, tear-streaked cheeks glowing under the faint light. The red welts and fading handprints on her pale skin stood out like battle scars. She noticed my presence and lifted her head, her eyes burning with venom as she glared at me. Pure, unfiltered hatred.I ignored it. I reached for her wrists, unclasping the cuffs from the chain

BELLAIt took me days to heal completely from the pain Vincent had put me through, and the worst part was that the bastard had refused to show himself before me again.I didn’t want to see him, but it was still infuriating that he hadn’t come to apologize. Not a single word. Not even a damn message.I went back to school on the third day, and things were far from normal. The guards were watching me like a hawk. All previous agreements had been dissolved, and I was back to being a prisoner.I hated how they shadowed my every move, their eyes scanning the halls, ensuring I didn’t step a foot out of line. It made my blood boil. And Vincent? He had been gone for the past week. At first, I thought he was avoiding me, but then I realized I hadn’t heard his voice in the mansion. Not once.No sign of him coming or going. No distant murmurs of his presence. Nothing. That only meant one thing. “He had traveled and left me here, caged like a damn bird.” I scoffed. My chest burned with frustrati

BELLA “Why can’t we just grab drinks from the vending machine?” I whined as Carmen dragged me across the street toward the little café opposite our school.“Because I’m not in the mood for watered-down soda, and this is the first time we’re moving around without your nannies breathing down our necks,” she shot back, barely slowing her pace.I huffed but couldn’t help laughing. “I thought you liked them? I distinctly remember you saying they were hot.” I wiggled my eyebrows at her.Carmen scoffed. “That was before I realized they were total creeps.”She had a point. When the guards first drove me to school and didn’t follow me inside, I was shocked. At first, I assumed they had stepped out for coffee or something, but then the entire day passed, and they only reappeared when it was time to pick me up.I asked about it, and the response was even more surprising. “Don has asked us to withdraw from guarding you in the school. He said it was not necessary.”I had no idea why he did that,

BELLAThe ride back to the mansion was quiet. I had brushed off Vincent’s arm when I got into the car, putting as much space between us as possible. Now, I sat with my body pressed against the door, staring out the window, stewing. Why had he suddenly come back? And why did he show up at my school like that? Fighting for me, of all things? He doesn’t care about me. Hell, he was a bigger bully than Daniel, so why did he interfere? And then to call me his woman? Was he claiming me? Like I was some possession that belonged to him? The thought made my blood boil.I hadn’t even gotten to tell Carmen goodbye, all because he dragged me away. I had wanted to spend a little more time with her before being locked inside that hellhole for the next two days.Leave it to Vincent to ruin my plans. And where had he even been all this time? The car rolled to a stop. A guard opened the door for him first, and he stepped out without a word. Then he turned to me, extending his hand.I shot him a glare b

VINCENTI don’t take betrayal lightly. Everyone knows that. But it seems I’ve been too lenient, too merciful. And now, some bastards have mistaken that for weakness. That was my mistake. And I intend to correct it.“Are you sure he’s going to be there, Bianchi?” My voice was calm, but the weight behind it was anything but.Bianchi gave a slow nod. “Yes, Don. It’s been confirmed, that’s his hideout. But he’s smart and sneaky. No one who gets too close ever makes it out alive.”A cruel smirk tugged at my lips.“Then I’ll just have to deal with him myself.”My voice was ice cold.Because if there’s one thing they should have learned by now, It’s that no one betrays me and lives to tell the tale.“Except for that one bastard.” My mind added. If he thought he could betray me and hide behind his so-called protection, he was dead wrong.I would rip his cover open. And burn them all.“This is his picture, Don.”Bianchi handed me a photograph. One look and a slow smirk curled at my lips.“Bull

THIRD POVThe party was amazing. The view was breathtaking, the ocean shimmering under the moonlight, and for the first time, Bella truly understood what it felt like to be under a sky full of stars in the middle of the ocean. She closed her eyes, letting the music pulse through her and the soothing scent of the ocean invade her senses. It felt serene. These were the kinds of nights she wanted to remember forever. The feeling was comforting and it almost felt like a dream.“I’ve always wanted to come to a yacht party,” she murmured to herself, smiling. With a contented sigh, Bella pulled out her phone, determined to capture the moment. She snapped a few pictures before switching to Snapchat.“Carmen will be so jealous,” she giggled, making silly faces as she recorded videos. But then, Bella froze. A man with a cold, unreadable expression stared straight into the camera, his dark eyes locking onto hers. A shiver ran down her spine and a deep sense of unease twisted in her gut.Slowly,

VINCENTI stumbled through the house, barely able to walk straight. Each step up the stairs felt like a mountain climb. The whole place was drowned in darkness, and my eyes stung with exhaustion as I dragged my body to my room.I pushed the door open, squinting as soft light from the table lamp met my face. I froze. I don’t remember turning it on. So why the hell was it glowing now? That’s when I saw her, the silhouette sitting on my bed, calm and unmoving.I let out a breath, more annoyed than surprised.“Bella.”My voice cracked through the silence. “What are you doing here? I thought I told you to stay out. Weren’t you the one who asked me to leave your room earlier? So what the fuck are you doing in my bed?”She didn’t respond. Just stood up slowly, stepping down from the bed and walking toward me.I took a shaky breath and ran a hand over my face. “What are you doing here?” I repeated, louder this time. “God, you’re making this so much harder than it needs to be. BELLAI was pissed.Vincent stood there like a statue, letting her spin her ridiculous story while I stood accused. He didn’t interrupt. He didn’t defend me. He just watched, jaw clenched, eyes burning with some emotion I couldn’t read, and I didn’t want to.She sat there on the couch, voice all sweet and broken, like she wasn’t the same woman who just threatened to kill me and my unborn child. She looked like a wounded little puppy. And Vincent, like a fool, was falling for it.I hated her.“Bella, why…” he started, but I shot to my feet, not giving him the satisfaction of finishing whatever garbage he had to say.I stormed out of the living room, rage pulsing in my veins. I knew what he was going to say, and I refused to sit there and be scolded like a child while the real manipulator sat pretty, playing her twisted game.“Bella! Get back here!” Vincent’s voice boomed behind me.I didn’t stop. I moved faster, my feet pounding against the stairs, my heartbeat matching the thunder in

BELLA“You can go in now, Mr. Castello,” the nurse said with a professional smile.Vincent and I stood, silent but in sync, and followed her down the quiet hallway into the doctor’s office. My heart beat a little faster with each step.“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Castello,” the doctor greeted, looking up from his desk with a warm expression.“Good morning,” we both replied, our voices overlapping slightly.“Please, have a seat while I briefly check your file,” he said with a small nod, already flipping through the pages. We sat side by side, the silence between us heavy but not uncomfortable. He skimmed through the notes, humming lightly.“From what I’m seeing here, everything looks great. You’re eating well, sleeping enough… that’s exactly what I like to see,” he said, glancing up at me with a nod of approval.I smiled politely, but in my head I laughed. Why wouldn’t I be fine? Amira had practically made it her full-time job to hover over me like a mother hen. Miss one meal, and she

BELLAShe came back in five minutes later, and I looked up from my screen.“Do you need something else?” I asked.“Mr. Castello said it would be best for you to get on your feet or he’ll make you stand for a week,” Amira said.I chuckled dryly. “Tell him I said he can do whatever the fuck he wants, but I’m not going to eat.”Amira nodded and left my room. She came back again, and I sighed.“He said if you don’t come downstairs, you’re never going to school again,” Amira said, and I was taken aback.I had just gotten the chance to start going to school. I couldn’t ruin it over a petty argument. I hated how he tried to control everything about my life. I hated how mean he was to me.I groaned and followed her down the stairs. When I got to the dining table, Vincent was already seated along with the girl. They both looked at me, and she gasped dramatically. “Oh my goodness! Your eyes are so puffy and red. What happened? Is it an allergic reaction? Were you crying?” she asked.Of course,

BELLAI took in a deep breath, let it out slowly, and stepped through the classroom like I hadn’t been missing for days that felt like lifetimes.“Bella!”Carmen’s voice hit me like a slap, and I nearly turned right back around. Her tone was sharp and when I saw her storming toward me with a face full of rage, I knew I was in for it.“Hi,” I said weakly, offering a sheepish smile that didn’t stand a chance against her glare.“Where the hell have you been? And what happened to your phone?” she snapped, voice rising with every word.“I…”“You have no idea how worried I was! I called you, like, a billion times, Bella. Nothing. I couldn’t reach you. I had no idea where you were or if you were even okay.” Her hands flew through the air as she spoke, frustration practically radiating off her. “You scared the shit out of me. And now you just show up saying ‘hi’ like you didn’t vanish into thin air?”I looked down, guilt crawling up my spine.“I haven’t heard from you in over a week,” she wen

BELLAI freeze, completely stunned. I can’t believe what I’m seeing.Vincent, he’s here, in this house. After I’ve been waiting for hours, pacing and hoping. It feels like I’m looking at him for the first time in years, not just a week.I try to speak, but nothing comes out. My lips part, but the words, where are they? How do you speak to someone who once knew your heart and now looks like a stranger? He’s staring at me too, eyes wide, caught off guard. But just as quickly, his expression hardens. The softness vanishes, replaced by something cold. Distant.“What are you doing here? Who told you to come in?” His voice was sharp and void of any emotion as he stared at me.That voice.“I just… I wanted to see you. I need to talk to you,” I say, my voice small, and aching.“I have nothing to say to you. You should leave.” His words hit like stones. Hard. Unmoved.Still, I don’t back down. “I’m not going anywhere until we talk.”He lets out a bitter snort like I’m some pathetic joke. “I to

BELLA“I’m tired,” I whispered, stretching out on the couch, my arms falling limply to my sides as my gaze drifted to the ceiling. For the past week, I have been a prisoner in this house. An abandoned criminal who didn’t even manage to catch a glimpse of her captor.I hadn’t seen Vincent once, not a glimpse. He’d been avoiding me like I carried some infectious disease, and the sting of that rejection cut deeper than I wanted to admit. I wasn’t just lonely, I was hurting. Each day blurred into the next. I slept. I ate. I went on a slow morning run around the estate with Amira, who tried to lift my spirits with gentle talks and pregnancy lessons. She meant well, and I appreciated her kindness, but it wasn’t enough. She talked about body changes, mood swings, nutrition, prenatal exercises, things that made it feel all too real, while the father of my child acted like I didn’t exist. No school. No fresh air beyond the garden. No freedom.I was bored. There is basically nothing going on in

BELLABianchi led me to the mansion, and the moment I stepped inside, a tight knot twisted in my chest. My eyes instinctively searched the living room, half-expecting to see Vincent lounging on the couch, flipping through documents with that quiet focus he always wore. But he wasn’t there. The room was still.Bianchi came to a halt, turning just slightly as if he were making sure I followed. I wanted so badly to ask him where Vincent was, to break the heavy silence between us, but I couldn’t. He’d already warned me. He’d made it painfully clear that he couldn’t stand the sight of me.And honestly, I couldn’t blame him. His hatred was earned. I destroyed the one person who meant the world to both of us. I broke Vincent. I broke us.Even now, knowing I deserved every bit of Bianchi’s loathing, it still burned. It burned that I couldn’t say I’m sorry. That I couldn’t explain or try to make it right. I’d shattered Vincent’s trust and wounded him in the most unforgivable way. And what did

VINCENT“You can’t seriously be considering this, right?” Bianchi’s voice cut through the silence like a blade, his eyes locked on mine with a mixture of disbelief and fury.I let out a long, weary sigh, dragging a hand down my face. I was tired, tired of thinking, tired of feeling, tired of the war inside my head.“You have got to be kidding me,” he snapped, stepping closer. “After everything that’s happened, after what she did, you really believe that child is yours? She’s been working with Santiago. Santiago!” he exclaimed.“How the hell can you be sure they haven’t been screwing behind your back the entire time?”His words were sharp, like shards of glass, cutting through my thoughts with brutal precision.“She’s a liar,” he continued, voice rising with frustration. “You know that. Even if she is pregnant, that doesn’t make it your problem. Just because you slept with her doesn’t make you the damn father.”I stared at the floor, jaw clenched. Every word he said echoed the fears I
