THORNE POV

I watched Rin sleep and tried to ignore the way my body was screaming at me to mark him properly and complete what we had started on the floor of this abandoned building.

The bond was humming contentedly between us but it was still incomplete and I could feel the instability in it like a rope that had been tied too loosely and could come undone at any moment.

Three hours had passed since we escaped the hunters and three hours since I had helped him through the worst of the heat and now he was curled against my chest breathing softly and looking more peaceful than I had seen him in weeks.

But I knew the peace would not last because as soon as he woke up he would remember everything and the hatred would be back in his eyes.
