VESPER GREY LYSAN

"Hey?" Cyran called, his hand moving in front of my face to get my attention.

I blinked, my eyes refocusing on the present, then I stared at him blankly, unsure if he'd asked me a question or said something I missed.

"Did you say something?"

"I asked if you were alright. You've been spacing out since we left the office. I can't help but worry about you, Vesper. Will you really be okay by yourself? I can stay with you if you want."

I contemplated his offer, the softness in his gaze pulling me in.

‘Should I just kill him then? Maybe then you'll realize that you can never care for anyone but me.’

I flinched, jerking back, my heart hammering against my ribs as I recalled Zevran's haunting words.

No. I couldn't allow that to happen.

Staying with Cyran was only going to get him killed.

Like Zevran said, bars were not enough to keep him away. He'd be out soon enough. And he'll come for me.

Until I find a way to resolve the issue with him, I have to stay away from Cyran.

CAMILLE SILVANE POV "I think Zevran will kill Cyran regardless of what you say. He says he can't wait two weeks and that you should set up an executive meeting." I reported, my grip tightening on the phone. It was quiet on the other end of the line, but I could hear his thoughts spiraling, his fear of the unknown spilling through."We can't allow that to happen," Silvane finally answered, a trembling edge to his voice. "Making enemies with the Lysanth group is the same thing as crippling our empire. Ilvane already betrayed them in the past. We can't afford more bad blood after striving so hard to mend the rift. Besides, as far as shipping and weapon routes are concerned, no other syndicate comes close to the Lysanth group.""You are right Master, but I'm afraid that is not going to stop Zevran. He's made his decision, and you know how stubborn he can be. If you allow an executive meeting to be held, he's going to convince them all to do what he wants. The executives might oppose his

VESPER GREY LYSAN POV My body jerked, a cry tearing out of my lungs as my eyes flew open. Then I glanced around the darkened room, my body frozen while my heartbeat thundered in my ears. The nightmare had felt so real, my neck still throbbed from it.God damn it, even in my dreams, I couldn't escape Zevran.I let out a rough breath, then pressed my fingers into my temples to try and ease the pounding in my skull. It worked. The throbbing dulled with every stroke and my heart rate slowly went back to normal."Stop being so paranoid Vesper. He can't get you here when he's in custody," I told myself, closing my eyes and letting my hands drop to my side. But why did something feel so off? My eyes snapped open, the eerie quietness making a chill run down my spine.Maybe it was because Zevran had broken in before but I couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was watching me.I forced myself to sit up, even as my whole body protested the action. "Ugh, this won't do at all," I groaned,

ZEVRAN ILVANE POV All I saw was red.God damn it I wanted to fucking murder someone. Cyran exactly. The cop's commander had apologized profusely as soon as I stepped into the station, but I'd assured him to just go ahead and do his job.And he had, with bias of course. Instead of a holding cell, I was placed in a luxurious room.Humans. Bunches of pathetic fools. All you had to have was money and power and they'll fall on their knees in worship. The only exception. Vesper Grey Lysan.I stared into the mirror, my reflection staring back at me.I could feel Zevran trying to claw his way to the surface."I won't let you out Zevran. You might have overpowered me at some points, but not this time. I'm going to have Vesper where you failed, and if I can't, I'll just lock her away forever, right by my side," I promised, grinning even as my heart clenched violently. The door to the room opened.I turned, my gaze colliding with those of Camille's where she stood at the door in an all black g

VESPER GREY LYSAN I froze, my breath catching between his mouth and mine, the world narrowing to the pressure of his grip and the fire igniting in my veins as he kissed me like I was the cure to something eating him alive.I couldn't react— No. He left no room for me to do anything. And without warning, he moved me, his body slamming mine into the wall, every inch of him pressing into me like he was trying to bury himself under my skin. What the hell was happening right now?My heart pounded, each beat like a drum warning me to run, to scream, but I couldn't do anything. He was so strong, it was like beating against a wall."Stop!" I gasped, bringing my knees up.But he anticipated my move, catching hold of my thigh in mid-air and slamming it back against the wall with the rest of me.His mouth hovered inches from mine, breath ragged."Don't," he growled. "Unless you want me to get rougher," he warned and then kissed me. It was even more intense than the first time.I couldn't brea

  • The Mafia's Possession: Every Breath She Takes    Seventeen

VESPER GREY LYSAN I really should have aimed for his head. And there I was feeling all guilty. What was even the point of that, really? "I don't owe you anything," I got out quietly, the fierce heat in my chest getting hard to ignore. If I had a weapon, there was no doubt in my head, I would hurt him. "You still have your life, so I never took it."His nose grazed mine, his voice a breath of ice. "You're wrong, Ves. I died a total of three times. Your shot was fatal, and as if that wasn't enough, you left me to bleed. Do you have any idea how much I suffered?"I met his gaze, my heart thumping loudly in my ear."I liked you so much, Vesper," he whispered, his eyes drawing me in, his voice hypnotic. "So why did you betray me? You promised to take me with you. Why did you lie?"His gaze dropped to my lips, and just like that, the air shifted, charged with something dark and forbidden. My body froze, my breath catching before I could stop it.Was he going to kiss me? Would I allow him
