VESPER GREY LYSAN POV

Myra's gaze burned into me, suffocating in their intensity.

I could tell she was waiting for an explanation, but after our conversation in the house about the company, and how draining it was, I didn't want to talk about Zevran.

"Aren't you going to say anything... And why did you lie that I needed to get some air? I was completely okay with talking at the house."

I glanced at the rolling landscape, my lips pressing into a thin line. "I didn't want to talk at home. Zevran has cameras installed and I don't want him listening in on our conversation...especially if it's about Cyran."

"Why not?"

I met her gaze. "Because Zevran doesn't like me talking about other men. You heard him just now, didn't you?"

"I did." Her gaze flicked to mine, her stare piercing. "I also heard the worry in your voice. You must really like him a lot to worry like that."

The way she said it had goosebumps rippling down my arms.

I didn't like being called out. Especially not after I managed

CAMILLE SILVANE POV The sharp bite of cold water hitting me in the face woke me up.It was disorienting. I blinked through the droplets clinging to my lashes, then let out a sigh as I saw Kellan towering over me with a sick grin on his face and a bowl in his hand. It looked even bigger than the last."Wakey wakey princess... It's time to take a bath. You're starting to stink up the place."I squeezed my eyes against the thumping in my head. God damn it, I just wanted to kill the bastard already."I think you're confusing your filthy smell for mine Kellan, or did the fire mess with your nose, too?"His smile faltered for a second, but then he fixed his face."Keep talking to me like that, and I'll set a fire in here and push you right into the center. It should be very entertaining. I mean, when has watching you scream ever not been?"I opened my eyes and met his gaze. The crazed look in them told me that he was not joking. And here I was thinking Zevran was the only unhinged one.

VESPER GREY LYSAN POVSnap out of it!"You're wrong. I do not feel anything for Zevran, at all," I forced out, a bitter taste filling my mouth as Myra searched my face."Then why are you marrying him?"I let out a breath, knowing that Myra wasn't going to stop until she found out the truth. "For revenge. I want to make him pay for everything he's done to me," I said, then scoffed out a defeated laugh. "But I'm not feeling too confident." Myra's voice was quiet. "Why?"I let my head drop against the headrest. "I feel like he knows I'm planning something and he's just waiting for me to fail."Myra's finger grazed my wrist, her touch soft. I let my head tilt toward her."If you're feeling that way, why don't you just come with me? Cyran must have sent me here for a reason—maybe he thinks I can convince you to come back."I shook my head. "That's not why he sent you here," I said, then looked away. "He just wanted to check on me. He sent you because you're the least person Zevran suspec

ZEVRAN ILVANE POV So Kellan Valor was still alive.I smirked, a smile tugging on my lips. "How dare he show his face instead of hiding away like the worm he is... Does he have a death wish?"Marros' brow furrowed as he glanced at the blurry video we had managed to acquire."How are you so sure it's him. He's covered from head to toe and we can barely see anything."I glanced up at him, a bored expression on my face. "It's the way he walks... Kellan had a funny habit of twitching his shoulders every three steps. The man in the video does it too. The height and weight also match."Marros looked uncertain. "But we watched Kellan die in that fire and it's been five years... It's impossible for him to still be alive."I dropped the tab on the table and stood up, straightening my suit as I fixed him with a stare."Are you questioning my words Marros?" I asked, tilting my head. "Of course not. I'm just worried that if we follow the wrong lead, Camille might not make it back alive"I grippe

ZEVRAN ILVANE POV Vesper looked agitated as she stood up. "I'll go check who it is."I tilted my head, a smirk tugging on my lips as my eyes fixed on her drumming pulse. Was my baby worried I was going to find out about her little box of death being delivered today? She was so cute."You've barely touched your food," I said, crowding and stopping her from stepping past me. "Besides...I don't want anyone to see you like this," I murmured, my eyes tracing every mark on her exposed skin. The sound of her breath hitching in her throat was music to my ears.I pushed her back down, then caressed the nape of her neck, a fire spreading in my chest as she looked up at me, her lips slightly parted and eyes as deep as the oceans."I'll check and be right back, so just eat your pancakes."She bit down on her lips, her eyes trembling."You really don't have to... We can just ignore it—"I pressed a kiss to her lips and she flinched, her eyes widening as they met mine.A delicious thrill shot up m

VESPER GREY LYSAN POV He ended up holding me up while I brushed my teeth, his solid weight behind me burning my skin.It was overwhelming. And why was he being so clingy all of a sudden?I didn't even think he would be here when I woke up, and yet, he was, and with the look of things, he didn't plan on leaving anytime soon."You can let go now, I want to wash my face," I said, leaning forward. He moved with me, his hands tightening around my waist and I froze as heat exploded across my skin, my stomach dropping so hard, it felt like I was falling off a cliff.I needed some space... I needed him to back the fuck up.As if sensing my growing apprehension, he let go of me slowly and stepped back.I didn't turn.I washed my face, grabbed a towel, and met his gaze in the mirror."Are you ready to eat now?"No, I want you to leave so I can properly crash out.I shook my head, then flinched as my stomach growled loudly.Heat burned my ears as he let out a low chuckle."Can't stop lying to s
