Chapter two: No going back

Eva could no longer feel her heartbeat because she was too scared to even breathe, she practically could see her own death.

She was just sitting tight waiting to hear the gunshot that would end her life, it didn't take long for the shot to happen,she exhaled deep enough to last her until her last breath. Eva closed her eyes very tight, trying to calm her nerves so as to settle in with the pains first before slowly dying just like Eric the devil wants.

She could hear Theo screaming her name, but then there was nothing she could do because she was going to die anyway.

However, after some minutes of waiting to feel the pain from the gunshot, which didn't come, she immediately opened her eyes and looked up to Eric, who was still pointing the gun to her face with his evil smirk.

Eva, having mixed feelings of shock, relief and realization all at once, she touched all over her body to confirm that the gun shot wasn't directed to her.

One thing about Eric, was that he drives so much joy from people’s pain and right now he was playing one of his stupid games with Eva.

“You know what, I've changed my mind, why kill you now when I can still have so much fun with you?” Eric rhetorically asked, directing the question to no one in particular.

He looked at his guards holding his brother by his left, gave them a sign with just a nod signifying that they should let him free.

He turned at the other side this time around looking at the guards that he assigned to keep an eye on Eva.

“Take her home and make sure she is locked up in her room.” Eric ordered, before leaving the hospital, back to whatever business that he got to finish.

Just as the guards were instructed, they grabbed Eva by the wrist totally ignoring Thoe’s presence and escorted her to the garage where their car was parked.

Eva was too weak to make any stubborn advances like always, at this point she was just grateful that she isn't dead YET.

Meanwhile back at the hospital, Theo was still inside the doctor's office trying to get people to clean up the mess (dead body) his brother created there, and make sure that any eye witness to the scene is eliminated as well, he hated that he had to deal with these part of their dirty works but he has no option.

In as much as he has so much hatred for his brother, he still can't allow him to be caught by the police or even have any record, afterall he is still his twin even though Eric doesn't acknowledge that.

After Theo had taken care of the whole incident and made sure everything was as good as new, he left for Eric's company where he could find him.

Thoe hasn't shaked off the shock of what happened earlier, despite the fact that he has seen his brother kill lots of people he never imagined that Eva would one day be in that position and he won't be able to save her.

He really needed to have a conversation with Eric, and make sure that they agree on something just so to keep Eva out of danger or better still buy her freedom even if it means striking a deal with him.

Theo got to the company and walked straight to the conference room, despite the effort of Eric’s secretary to stop him because Eric was still in a meeting.

He opened the door widely without bothering to knock, distracting the meeting and drawing everyone's attention to himself.

Theo arrogantly waved to everyone casually while walking towards his brother.

Eric was watching Theo misbehave, however he didn't stop him or call the security to throw him out because he was finding the whole thing amusing.

“Leave us.” Eric dismissed the whole board with just a few words, and instantly everyone left leaving just him and Theo in the conference room.

Eric turned his chair to face his brother's direction while being relaxed like the boss he is.

“What could be so important that you had me stop my meeting?” Eric asked in his cold deep voice with no emotions.

“I need you to free Eva.” Theo said, he knew for sure that Eric wouldn't just let any of his hostages free because he asked but asking him was a good start.

Eric felt like laughing but had to hold it in. Most times he regrets that he had a brother like Theo, not just brothers but twins because Theo was the opposite of him and it is so embarrassing and annoying for him.

However he doesn't like beating around the bush either, so he gave Theo a straight answer to avoid prolonging the conversation.

“No.” Eric said firmly, with a tone of finality, getting up from the chair walking out of the conference room because he wasn't going to waste anymore of his second, discussing something that won't give him more profit with his brother.

“What if I can make a deal with you?” Theo announced and noticed his brother's footsteps stopped meaning that he had his attention.

“Let's see what you’ve got,” Eric replied, still facing the conference room entrance.

“I will give up thirty percent of my share in the company.” Theo offered, he knew there was no way his brother would reject such an offer because it is obvious to everyone, that Eric wished he had nothing to do with the company and now the opportunity is coming to him just like that, so of course he would take the deal without hesitation.

There was a brief silence from the twins, both of them were in their thoughts for a minute before Eric broke the silence. 

“And why would you want to do something that stupid?” Eric arrogantly asked. 

“For Eva's freedom, I am sure that share will be able to cover whatever debt she owes you.” Theo gave his answer. 

At this point he didn't care what whoever thinks about his decision, because he has deeply fallen in love with Eva and there's no going back for him.
