Just as Isabella was about to make her daring escape, Salvatore aimed his gun and fired a shot in her direction. The sound of the gunshot was deafening, causing me to instinctively cover my ears.

I stifled a scream, fearing the worst for Isabella. But to everyone's astonishment, she managed to roll on the floor and slip through the gates just as they were closing. It was as if she had anticipated the gunshot. She had actually managed to get away, and I couldn't help but feel responsible for the entire situation.

I couldn't understand why they had captured her in the first place, but she must have done something terrible to Salvatore. From the snippets of conversation I had overheard, it seemed she had poisoned him, and now she had vanished. It was all my fault.
