Chapter 5

For the next few days, Lucian took good care of me. The doctor had urged him to rest, but he insisted on staying by my side.

Others might think he was madly in love with me, but I knew this was all an act. His 'care' was just a well-orchestrated deception.

On the day I got discharged from the hospital, Lucian threw a party for me in a bar. He did not tell me in advance, but instead drove me straight to the bar.

The lights were dim in the bar. Lucian and his friends were looking after me attentively, but I still felt uneasy. I felt like something bad was about to happen.

At that moment, the doors opened, and Wendy entered. Everyone suddenly soured.

Lucian was about to lose his temper, but his friends immediately said to Wendy, "Lucian has done what you told him to do. You saw it, right?"

Wendy smiled. "Don't worry. I'm not here to cause trouble. I know you all are using Nina to seek revenge on Aaron. I'm here to help you."

Lucian's friends looked at each other. They did not dare to stop her.

I wanted to listen to their conversation, but the music was so loud I heard nothing.

Then, Wendy walked over to me with a fake smile on her face. "Nina, I'm sorry. I was out of line. Lucian didn't know about the engagement. Please accept my apology."

I furrowed my brows as a bad feeling rose in my heart. I had no idea why Wendy was apologizing, but my instincts told me that something else was brewing.

Lucian was unhappy about Wendy's sudden appearance.

Wendy invited me to dance with her. "We're celebrating you getting discharged from the hospital. Come, let's dance."

I shook my head warily. "No, I don't want to."

Wendy would not take no for an answer. "Don't worry! I've booked the entire place. There won't be anyone else here. You can relax."

Lucian's friends started to persuade me as well. Wendy pulled me up, but I angrily shrugged her off.

She suddenly stumbled and fell on the floor. "Ahh! Nina! Why did you push me?" She started to sob, which annoyed me even more.

She held her ankle and cried, "Lucian, my ankles hurt. Please take me to the hospital."

Lucian furrowed his brows, clearly annoyed as well.

Wendy said with a catch in her throat, "Our families are long-time friends. You can't just leave me like this. Otherwise, I'll tell my father!"

Lucian finally caved in. He said to me, "Nina, I'll take her to the hospital. Stay here and have fun. I'll be back soon."

I nodded, hoping that they would leave quickly, so I could go home and rest too. Once they all left, I was planning to leave too.

Right at this moment, the doors to the room open. A group of homeless men entered!

They immediately locked their eyes on me and snickered lewdly. "That woman wasn't lying. Not only are we getting paid, but we also get to sleep with such a gorgeous woman! We're in luck!"

I knew what they were going to do to me. I was so frightened that I took two steps back.

Luckily, I was trained in self-defense. I kicked the first man who pounced on me, but they outnumbered me. I could not fend all of them off.

They ripped my clothes off as my screams got drowned out in the music.

"Get lost! Don't touch me!" I screamed, crying. I kicked with all my might, but those people seemed to be high on drugs or something. They did not feel pain at all.

My skirt was torn in half. I felt the cold air on my skin.

I felt a lot of hands wandering on my body, which disgusted me.

"Help! Help me!" I yelled in despair, but no one responded to my screams. Wendy had booked the entire place.

My eyesight started to blur. All I could hear was their grunting and heaving.

Right when I was about to drown in despair, the doors were kicked open.
