CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY TWO

ZOEY

Something shifted.

I felt it before I heard it. I felt a strange pull deep in my chest, and I wasn’t sure what it meant. The room was quiet, same as always. The curtains barely moved. The lights were still low but something was different. It was in the air, it felt thicker, and colder.

I sat up slowly. My head ached. The silence was worse now, and I didn’t like the feeling that came with it.

I’d stopped screaming days ago. I didn’t know how long I’d been here anymore. Morning and night didn’t exist in this place. Only velvet curtains, candles, and locked doors.

A soft knock came, but the door didn’t open yet.

Still, I stood up. My legs wobbled, but I didn’t sit back down. My bare feet brushed the thick rug as I crossed to the window. I pressed my hand to the glass.

Somewhere out there, something had happened.

“Graham,” I whispered. It came out cracked.

The door opened behind me. I turned around slowly.

Two women stepped inside. Always the same ma

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FOURGRAHAMThe forest was quiet, so much quiet. I stepped carefully over the roots and fallen leaves, breathing in the cold, damp air. I’d been tracking this scent for hours now, it was faint, but yet so sharp, it smelled like blood mixed with something dark.It led me deeper into the woods, farther from our pack than I’d ever been. Every step made my heart beat faster, a mix of hope and fear filled me up. This had to be the place, the vampires’ coven. I was sure of it.When I reached a small clearing, the signs were clear, there were broken branches burned black, the ground looked like it had been stepped on a lot of times by so many people. Behind thick bushes, I saw the entrance to a cave, hidden and shadowed. This was where they hid Zoey.I stood there a moment, letting the cold rush into my body. Then I turned and ran back toward the pack, urgency pushing me.By the time I reached them, the sun was just rising, light pouring softly through the trees

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREEZOEYThe letter sat on the table open and it stared right back at me like it was mocking me with its neat, cruel words. “You were never worth the bloodshed because you betrayed him.” Those words felt like a sharp sword slicing through my chest, butthey couldn’t be true. Graham wouldn’t say that. He wouldn’t abandon me, not like this.I know I betrayed him and broke his trust but he wouldn’t just abandon me just like that, would he?My fingers trembled as I reached out, and my heart pounding. I touched the paper’s smooth surface. It felt real, but it was a lie. I could feel it in every fiber of me. Slowly, as if testing my own strength, I tore it in half, then those halves again then again. The pieces fell to the floor, falling like broken promises, fragile and useless.“No,” I whispered to the empty room. “I don’t believe you.”The silence answered back, thick and cold as ever. I pressed my palm to my chest, trying to chase away the chill Viktor ha

  • The Mate She Can’t See   Retreat

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY ONEGRAHAMThe fight didn’t end with a final blow. It ended with confusion. At first, I thought I was imagining it. The rogues stopped pushing forward. They didn’t retreat all at once, they slowed down. A few backed away, then more. Their growls faded into silence. Their bodies turned. And just like that, they began to pull back.Ronald and I both froze, blood dripping from our hands, blades shaking in our grips. The other warriors looked around, just as confused.“Hold the line!” I shouted. “Don’t follow them just yet.”We waited, expecting another wave but nothing came. The fire was still burning along the edges of the courtyard. Smoke rose in the air and the smell of blood was thick, almost choking but the noise was gone. No more snarls, and no more screams.Kelvin stood at the far end, his eyes locked on mine. He didn’t speak. He didn’t move fast. He just turned around slowly and walked away like he had all the time in the world. His rogues cleared a

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTYRONALDThe courtyard was a battlefield. There was blood, smoke, and screams. It was everywhere, making me unable to think straight. I swung my blade hard, cutting down a rogue that had lunged at me with foam around his mouth. The bastard dropped like a sack of meat, but I didn’t even have time to breathe before the next one came.I gritted my teeth, blocking a blow with my arm and stabbing straight through his chest. My shirt was torn, and there www blood dripping from my shoulder, but I didn’t care. I was too far gone in the fight.Graham was in the middle of it all, like a possessed demon. His eyes were wild, his movements were precise and angry. I’d never seen him like this, not even during the bloodiest fights of the past. He wasn’t just protecting the pack, he was burning from the inside, and I knew why. It was because of Zoey. This wasn’t just about Kelvin’s attack. It was about her being gone, taken, and possibly hurt. I saw it in every strike Grah

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY NINEZOEYI paced the room for the hundredth time, my fists were clenched, and my heart was pounding like crazy. Something was wrong. I didn’t know how and what, but I could feel it. It was like a heavy rock that had settled over my chest, like the world outside was shifting, breaking, tearing apart, and I couldn’t see it. I couldn’t stop it.Frankie was still quiet.I stopped in front of the window and looked out, pressing my hand against the cold glass. My breath fogged it up. The sky looked the same, but something was different. Off in the distance, I saw something like black smoke going up into the sky. It was far away, and barely visible, but it enough to make the fear inside me skyrocket.No. Please no.I didn’t know what was happening, but my gut screamed that it had to do with with Graham. Something inside me was breaking.I took a step back, heart racing faster. The door opened. I turned sharply.Lord Viktor stepped in like he always did, quiet
