Chapter 2 Confessing to the Whole School

ผู้เขียน: Quinn Archer
"I understand." I covered my mouth, trying to will up some crocodile tears after being rejected. However, I couldn't help but burst into triumphant cackles when I heard the system notification.

"Congratulations, you've unlocked a side quest. You will be rewarded two million for this quest!" said the system.

'If one confession is worth one million, then confessing to 8 billion people would—'

"Do have some shame!" The system quickly nipped my idea in the bud and added a line in small text. "There's a limit of 10 million."

When I heard this, I knew right then that money was where it mattered. Love? I couldn't survive off love, could I?

Back in the dorm, Melissa was talking to Hailey about something. When she saw me walk in, she immediately stomped over to me. Hailey tried to stop her, but the latter shoved her away.

Then, Melissa grabbed my collar and snarled, "Lily, do you know that you've ruined our reputation?"

I was stunned by her words. After all, I was the one who got rejected, so what does that have to do with her? Why was she bringing collective honor into this?

However, I swiftly recalled that the author of this novel was wearing such ridiculous plot armor that it was likely the author was brainless, too. If I took that into consideration, incidents like these weren't all that surprising.

Everyone tended to treat the protagonist with blind devotion. Frankly, it was quite ridiculous, but this was my life now.

The novel world I was in was a rather straightforward one as the whole world basically revolved around the female lead. People were either with her or against her.

Once I learned that I had transmigrated into the vicious villainess, I decisively chose to focus on raking in the cash rather than in romance.

When I first started out, the system only gave two measly options.

One was to pursue Caleb, who was also the male lead of this story. If I succeeded, the system would grant any one of my wishes.

My second option was to pursue Andrew, the second male lead. The reward for winning his heart was a chance to return to my original world.

The money was just a side quest and was placed there for laughs. In a twisted novel world like this one, people grew up thinking that confessing to someone was basically asking for social suicide.

Yet, each rejection came with a compensation of one million dollars.

Still, one's reputation would get worse each time they confessed. In the end, they would just end up becoming a pariah.

Fortunately, I was built different. I didn't care for such things because I had absolutely no shame.

After all, why would I care about my reputation when I was already a villainess?

"I like you," I said calmly. There wasn't even a sliver of rage in my heart as I smiled at her. I picked my nails, blew on them, and coyly met her gaze.

Her face turned bright red, and I could basically feel the heat wafting off it from where I was standing.

"W-What I mean to say is that you should pay more attention in the future…" she valiantly continued.

"I like you," I repeated with a roguish smirk.

Melissa clammed up and fled to her bed before pulling the curtain shut. After a moment, I heard her muffled voice through the curtains, still laced with embarrassment. "There is no future between us! You should just give up!"

I didn't mind getting rejected once more. If anything, I was on cloud nine as I listened to the system broadcast. Nevertheless, something was bothering me. What I was doing right now wasn't efficient enough.

So, I found a random confession template online and sent it to all the students via Instagram.

The system immediately called me out for cheating when I did that.

"Ah, you don't get it." I waved my hand in dismissal. "Confession is about sincerity, not form."

The counselor called me into his office the very next day.

"Explain yourself." He pushed his phone toward me, his face stone cold.

I looked at it and was amazed by how many complaints there were about me.

"I'm doing a research project." I handed him the thesis I had managed to churn out overnight. The title was "Love Patterns in the Internet Era."

"I want to investigate how the internet has affected relationships, especially when it comes to dating culture and building platonic relationships. I also wanted to look into how love is expressed during this technologically advanced era.

"I wanted to understand whether the internet…" I sold him a scientific-sounding bullshit.

The counsellor could only stare at me, utterly stunned after listening to my explanation. Then, he pushed his glasses up and parted his lips to interrupt me before I could confuse him further.

I knew what he was about to ask, so I smoothly interjected, "My confessions to Caleb and Andrew were meant to serve as a control group."

The glint in Janice's eyes seemed to say she had been waiting for this moment for a long, long time. "I just got this car not long ago!" she yelled accusingly.I walked past her and glanced at her so-called "new car." For a supposedly new car, that black Audi was looking rather weathered."Also, I haven't been doing so well recently, and the doctor said I can't handle any shock. I'm having trouble breathing after the accident. You need to take me to the hospital for a check-up and compensate me for emotional damages. Do you even know how much I earn a day? "You'll have to cover my lost wages, too! And…"I didn't even want to expend the energy to roll my eyes at her as I watched her strut and rant like the clown she was.It seemed that this was the only way she could lash out at me. Frankly, it was petty, harmless, and so utterly futile.…I had seen her prior to our fateful meeting today.Donald had been taken away by the authorities for abusing his position and was dismissed

The goal of this summit was to build a new development pattern and promote high-quality e-commerce. I went on stage to give a speech as their guest. As my eyes swept across the sea of faces below, it dawned upon me that I had truly made it."The advantages of rural e-commerce lie in its vast market space, high-quality products, low costs, its role in promoting rural development, as well as its diverse products and cultural value. "The development of rural e-commerce will provide more business and employment opportunities for rural areas, stimulate the economies there, and meet the consumers' demand for quality products. "Therefore, our company has decided to allocate more than half of its profits to supporting rural e-commerce development."I was willing to light the torch to guide more enterprises to put a focus on developing rural areas. Naturally, I had consulted Selina before using over half of the company's profits to support such an endeavor. She didn't even hesitate to a

We chatted about everything and anything after that.I learned that Selina was a princess at heart, even though she appeared decisive and ruthless in business. She even told me that she didn't want to wear a mask like that, but the business world was full of cutthroat sharks who would eat you alive at the slightest slip.In the end, Selina was satisfied with our talk and insisted on becoming my best friend. She was so eager that she even called her son over to make him acknowledge me as his aunt."Do you trust me that much?" I pouted, unconvinced."I've been in business for years. I can tell how a person ticks with just a look." She smiled confidently. "So, I know you're different from the rest of the lot. You're still an innocent flower." The private room door was pushed open just as her last words fell. The newcomer looked impatient, but he froze when he saw me.It was Caleb.Caleb couldn't understand why I was here. He was so confused that he kept staring at me while holding

Caleb scoffed and scratched the bridge of his nose as he said, "I don't get along with him well, so I came to mess with him."I didn't expect him to be so blunt. He glanced at Andrew, his eyes were filled with disdain. "We're your control group, right? So, what's the result?"I knew he had misunderstood me after hearing his response. After all, the so-called control group was online versus offline, not the two of them. Plus, that was something I just made up on the spot!"I'm going to count to three, and you need to let go." I didn't bother explaining since I doubted he'd understand anyway. Then, I raised three fingers."What if I don't?" Caleb grinned mischievously and laced our fingers together.I instantly got goosebumps.'Fine, don't blame me then,' I said in my mind."Watch your head." I let out a sigh."Huh?" Caleb tilted his head in confusion.I took advantage of his confusion and flipped him over my shoulder. If it weren't for the fact that we were still on campus, I

There was no way Donald would dare take that gamble."You're just doing your job, so I don't blame you." I lifted my chin and repeated firmly, "I want to drop out of school."Donald's face turned pale, and he forced a smile as he pleaded, "Rules can be changed. Regulations exist to ensure students can study in a conducive environment. You've upheld your integrity as a student, so how could we blame you? "Of course, I've been too hasty in acting on my preconceived judgment, which has caused you great harm. As the dean, I should set an example and apologize to you." Then, he bowed and said, "Lily, I'm sorry."Since he had already apologized, there was no point in pressing further. And so, the matter was resolved.Just as I reached the stairway corner, I heard a loud commotion outside the teaching building. When I walked down the steps, I saw Caleb and Andrew each holding a bouquet by the entrance. The crowd was buzzing, all guessing who they were waiting for.Janice suddenly cam

"Woking part-time?" Donald shot me a dubious look.I didn't respond. After all, I knew it was pointless for me to defend myself when they were dead set on humiliating me."You're calling this a part-time job?" He slammed a stack of photos onto the table. The counselor's face changed drastically after seeing them. His eyes were filled with confusion.I leaned forward to take a look when I noticed his reaction.Someone had taken photos of me meeting up with investors at a restaurant recently. However, whoever had taken the shots had deliberately messed with the angles to make them look as if I was involved in illicit activities.I had accidentally dropped my utensils that day, so the investor courteously handed me a new pair. Alas, it looked like we were behaving intimately from that angle. There were also a few photos of me getting in and out of luxury cars.I instinctively glanced at Janice and saw that the smug look on her face, seemingly certain that I wouldn't escape from be

Bruce thought I was joking, so he flicked my forehead. "Kid, where would you get that 10 million? Are you planning to rely on angel investors?
