Broken I

Arya had gone back to the hospital every day without speaking to any of the staff, not even John, the driver. Mark tried to approach her, but work was so busy that it was impossible.

The young woman was grateful for that; she wanted to avoid talking to anyone. She felt discouraged, devastated and demoralized. During those days, she barely ate anything. She stopped answering Ayden and forwarded her calls to her mailbox.

Ayden wanted to get in touch with her, she thought about talking to her through Mark, asking him to put her through, but that was grounds for them to have to talk, and she didn't want that. She feared that her brother would cajole her and turn her against him.

By the third day, Arya was resigned to the fact that she was going to have to face him. When John arrived, she almost expected him to get off to scold her, but he didn't.

“Good evening, miss,” greets the chauffeur, as he does every day.
