Declan walked into the house physically and mentally exhausted.It had been the third day he'd tried reaching out to his mother and finding out where she'd gone, but every attempt had ended the same way.Nothing.No answer. Her dark eyes scanned the area behind her cautiously as she slipped through the iron gates of her mother's estate.She hurried up the stone walkway toward the front door, her eyes still darting around nervously at every small noise.She knocked twice, hard and urgent.The door swung open almost immediately, and she came face-to-face with her mother, Caroline.Caroline was wearing a silk red lingerie robe, holding a half-lit cigarette loosely between her long fingers.
