(Aria’s POV)

The chains shattered.

The sound echoed through the underground chamber like a gunshot.

For one terrible second—

everything went still.

The First Heir slowly lifted her head.

Free.

Silver chains fell around her feet in broken pieces, glowing faintly before turning to ash.

And then—

she stood.

My breath caught instantly.

The chamber reacted to her.

The silver symbols across the walls pulsed violently, as if recognizing her freedom.

Or fearing it.

The creature in the shadows smiled.

“At last.”

Cold terror flooded me.

No.

This was bad.

Very bad.

The First Heir took a slow step forward.

And every step cracked the floor beneath her feet.

(Kael’s POV)

Damn it.

We failed.

The seal is broken.

I moved instantly toward Aria, pulling her behind me.

Protective instinct surged violently through me.

The First Heir’s silver eyes shifted toward us slowly.

Then—

toward Aria.

Her expression changed.

Not hatred.

Recognition.

Painfully deep recognition.

“Elarys.”

Aria flinched.

(Adrian’s POV)

Something’s wrong.

The First Heir should be unstable after centuries imprisoned.

Violent.

Broken.

But instead—

she looked focused.

That’s worse.

Much worse.

(Aria’s POV)

“You know me,” I whispered.

The First Heir smiled sadly.

“I know what you become.”

My blood went cold.

Before I could respond—

the creature behind her stepped closer.

Massive.

Shadow-wrapped.

Hungry.

And suddenly—

the First Heir turned toward it.

Something changed in her expression instantly.

Hatred.

Pure hatred.

Interesting.

“You still feed,” she whispered coldly.

The creature smiled slowly.

“And you still fail to die.”

Silence crashed through the chamber.

Wait.

What?

(Kael’s POV)

They know each other.

No—

more than that.

This isn’t prisoner and monster.

This is history.

(Aria’s POV)

The First Heir looked back at me.

“They lied to you.”

Kael stiffened immediately.

Adrian cursed under his breath.

I was getting tired of everyone accusing everyone else of lying.

“What truth?” I demanded.

The First Heir’s silver eyes darkened.

“The hunger cannot be contained forever.”

The creature laughed softly.

“She learns quickly.”

“But not quickly enough,” the First Heir snapped.

The chamber trembled violently.

Power rolled off both of them now.

Ancient.

Terrifying.

And somehow—

my mark reacted to both.

Pain exploded beneath my skin.

I cried out sharply.

(Adrian’s POV)

The resonance is worsening.

Damn it.

I moved toward Aria immediately.

But Kael blocked me.

“Don’t.”

I glared at him.

“She’s collapsing.”

“And you touching her makes the fracture worse.”

The bond pulsed violently between them again.

Pain flashed across Aria’s face immediately afterward.

Damn it.

He’s right.

(Aria’s POV)

I fell to my knees.

Too much.

The memories.

The bond.

The hunger.

The lies.

Everything felt like it was tearing me apart from the inside.

Then suddenly—

another memory crashed into me.

Flash

Me.

No—

Elarys.

Standing beside Adrian beneath moonlight.

Older than the memories before.

His hands holding mine tightly.

“You have to leave.”

“I won’t leave you.”

Pain in his expression.

“If Kael finds out—”

My breath caught.

Kael.

Then another flash—

Kael kissing me desperately.

Silver light exploding around us.

Adrian watching from the shadows.

Broken.

Present

I gasped violently.

No.

No no no—

I looked at both of them in horror.

The realization hit like a blade.

“You both…”

Silence.

Dead silence.

(Kael’s POV)

Damn it.

Not those memories.

Anything but those.

Aria stared between us, breathing unevenly.

“You both loved me before the bond.”

The chamber went completely still.

(Unknown POV)

And there it is.

The beginning of the real fracture.

Because now she understands the most dangerous truth of all:

this was never just fate.

It was unfinished history.
