Michael's words trailed off as he gazed into her eyes, his expression faltering. “You and your friend are nothing but trouble”. The look she gave him was piercing, and he found himself unable to speak, his words lodged in his throat. The weight of her gaze was almost palpable, and Michael felt a sudden sense of discomfort, as if he had been stripped bare.
It seemed like she was about to cry. He had always enjoyed making her cry so what was wrong now? Why is he suddenly feeling regret? She deserved every hate that was coming from him so he shouldn't feel any hint of compassion for her. Fiona's hands danced through a series of precise gestures, her question hanging in the air like a challenge: "If I'm nothing but trouble to you, why don't you sign the divorce papers?". Michael's entire body froze, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat. For a moment, the only sound was the heavy silence between them, and Michael's response was a stark, motionless stillness. She still hadn't let go of the thought of leaving him. What else did he have to do to show her that there wasn't any escaping from him ever?? He will only let go of her when he's done. As Michael's wolf surged to the forefront, his eyes blazed with a fierce, glowing red light. But instead of cowering in fear, Fiona's response caught Michael off guard. Her reaction was not what he had anticipated, and for a moment, he was left wondering what was going through her mind. She moved back a little and batted her eyelashes in fear. His wolf immediately went still when he noticed that. She was scared of him.. why?? At that moment, he was filled with mixed emotions. Prisca, who had been happily watching the fear on Fiona’s face immediately panicked when she noticed the change in Michael’s emotions. To divert his attention, she let out a fake groan. Michael's voice was the catalyst that brought him back to himself. Before Fiona could even hit the ground, he swiftly caught her and scooped her up, carrying her out of the ward. As he did so, he deliberately avoided noticing the crushed expression on Fiona's face, choosing instead to focus on the task at hand. ● In another ward ● A wolf doctor took a series of tests on Prisca as per Michael’s command. He feared that she hadn't fully healed from Tacha’s earlier attack. As the doctor did his job, Prisca made sure to put on a pain-stricken act even though there was nothing wrong anymore. She knew how vulnerable Michael was towards a hurt person so she intended to use his vulnerability to her gain. Despite her actions, the doctor still couldn't find anything physically wrong with her. When Michael realised that she faked being in pain, he was furious. "Why did you do that?" He asked angrily after the doctor had left. Prisca remained silent in fear as she had already been caught. "Why would you go to the extent of faking your health just to get my attention?" He asked again but she still remained mute. He let out a weary sigh, his fingers massaging his temples as the weight of the day's events bore down on him. The relentless stream of problems had left him drained, and the thought of navigating another dramatic confrontation was almost too much to bear. "I made promises to both you and my father and I won't go back on the one I made to you so don't push your luck." He warned while she nodded, realising the seriousness of his words. "I won't blink twice in sending you abroad to find your mate if you continue with such antics." A flicker of fear appeared in Prisca’s eyes when he made such a threat. "I'm sorr.." She wasn't able to complete her words when he stormed out of the ward. A deep frown appeared on Prisca’s face after he had left. All through their relationship, Michael hardly got mad with her. They've only had a few fights, most of which were when he was about to get married to Fiona. He had always been really gentle and careful with her so this is the first time he was talking to her in such a manner. Worst of all, he was threatening to send her away all because of Fiona. If not for her, she would have been Michael’s Luna but she just had to come into the picture and ruin it all. She needed to do something fast before Fiona fully claims her rightful position. After leaving Prisca’s ward, Michael hurried towards the doctor's office. He took long strides as he couldn't waste any more time. He knew that for Fiona, time was of the essence. He knocked on the door softly and entered without waiting for the doctor to usher him in. He could already sense the doctor's presence so he only knocked to alert his intrusion. The doctor who had been arranging some files on his desk immediately stood up and paid respect to his Alpha before offering him a seat. Michael sat down comfortably and went straight to the point; "How's the preparation for the surgery coming up?" He asked. "The surgery is ready. We only need the patient now." The doctor answered. Michael nodded in understanding and asked again; "What's the possibility of fully restoring her voice?" "It will be one hundred percent successful because, like you said, her condition isn't hereditary, and with the current medical technologies, I can assure you that nothing will go wrong, " the doctor answered. A small sense of relief washed over Michael. Finally, the day had come. He knew what this would mean to Fiona. He could already picture her happy face in his head when she finds out about this. If she finally regained her voice, he would feel no shame in presenting her to the whole pack as his luna As he thought about that idea, a small smile appeared on his lips unknowingly. When he realized what he was doing, the smile immediately disappeared the same way it came. He scolded himself mentally. "What the hell is wrong with me??" He asked himself. "Don't get any ideas, Michael. You're only doing this to fulfill your father's wishes. Even though she regains her voice, it doesn't change the fact that she's a weak Omega with no background." He thought, trying to convince himself. This is his last responsibility towards her and his father. After that, he'll use her the way he wants. As Michael was lost in his thoughts, he didn't realize that Prisca had been eavesdropping on his conversation with the doctor. When she heard about the surgery to help Fiona regain her voice, her blood boiled hotter than before. "Why?? Why does he want to help her?? Why can't he leave her the way she is now??" She asked herself angrily. She had the urge to burst into the room and question his decisions but she held herself back. She didn't want him to chase her away like he had earlier threatened but she also couldn't sit back and watch him slip away from her hands. She needed to secure her post, and the only way to do that was to make Fiona disappear. She was going to do whatever it took to make that happen. TBC~▪︎The pack's hospital▪︎~Michael palmed his face, his legs shaking with anxiety as he sat in the waiting room close to the emergency ward. He had quickly rushed Prisca to the hospital when she kept screaming about being in pain.Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead as he thought about the worst scenarios. He couldn't lose another baby again. Though the first one was his fault, he was willing to make things right by accepting Prisca’s baby.He wasn't even in Kelvin’s life when he was initially born, it can't be the same with this baby. That child had to live.Michael's mind was racing with anger and worry as he thought about Prisca's deliberate actions. Why had she deliberately sought out Kelvin? He had explicitly warned her to leave them alone, but she had chosen to disregard his words. Now, her actions had put his son in a difficult situation, and he couldn't help but wonder what Prisca's ultimate goal was.Now that the worst has happened, what will he do?? How was he going to
Prisca paced restlessly, her eyes fixed on the steady stream of students pouring out of the school’s imposing gates. Her nerves were taut, but her focus never wavered. After days of quietly observing Michael’s every move, she had memorized his routine down to the smallest detail. She knew exactly when he arrived, when he picked up Kelvin, and even which path he usually took home. Now, standing there with anticipation buzzing beneath her skin, she waited for the moment their paths would cross—knowing it wouldn’t be long.Today, she came to see Kelvin instead, knowing fully well that Michael would soon arrive to pick him up.The loud screams of the children as they ran happily into the arms of their parents irritated her. She had never been a fan of children so she never bothered to have one for Michael. She had always been on drugs since she didn't want to go through the trouble of having to find out who her child's father was when she eventually got pregnant. She had a lot of boyfri
After attending to the customer, Fiona was about to go back into the kitchen to resume her talk with Prisca when she heard the bell to the bakery's door jingle again. She had already forgotten that there was a long line of customers waiting outside. She looked around in search of an idle staff member but they were all busy tending to the other customers."I need to hire more workers." She thought to herself as she gently massaged her thighs. Her encounter with Michael last night had left her famished. Though she took the drugs he left for her this morning, she still felt weak all over, most especially in her legs. She had thought that she wasn't going to stand for too long at the bakery."Good morning." She heard a soft female voice."Good mor.."She looked up to see a sophisticated middle-aged woman staring at her. She was dressed in a long green grown that stopped at the end of of her knee with a pair of luxurious heels to match. She also put on fancy looking jewelries which highli
《The next day》Fiona's slumber was shattered by the loud revving of a car's engine. Groggily, she sat up and yawned, but her tired body betrayed her as she tried to stand, collapsing back onto the bed with a soft moan. Every muscle ached, and her limbs felt heavy. Her mind immediately swept to last night and her face turned crimson red when she recalled her passionate time with Michael. It lasted for so long because they couldn't get enough of each other. Now, she was the one feeling the pain. She turned to the other side of the bed but couldn't find Michael. She felt his side of the bed and it was cold; which meant that he had left."Where did he go?" She wondered as she managed to sit up. Just as she reached out to grab her phone from the bedside stand, something else caught her attention. Sitting neatly beside the phone was a cup of water, a small pack of painkillers, and a folded note placed carefully on top. The unexpected sight made her pause for a moment. It wasn’t what she h
"Savor your time with my man while it lasts, because it won't be for much longer." The words on the screen seemed to seethe with venom, and Fiona could feel the malevolent intent behind them. The brief text message from Prisca sent an unexpected shiver down Fiona’s spine, instantly disrupting the fragile sense of calm she had begun to embrace over the past few days. The tranquility she had fought so hard to maintain was shattered in a heartbeat. It was as if the air around her grew heavier, pressing in on her chest. Deep down, she knew this moment would come—Prisca was never one to stay silent for long, especially when things seemed to be going well for Fiona. She should have anticipated it, should have known that Prisca wouldn’t allow her even a sliver of peace without interference. She felt pure anxiety as she read the message over and over again. Prisca had just given her a warning. What was she planning now?? Fiona could feel a huge storm coming her way."Are you seriously going
Days had gone by since Prisca's fabricated illness, and Michael hadn't lifted a finger to check on her. Despite her numerous attempts to reach out to him or track his whereabouts, Prisca was met with complete radio silence. After reopening her bank accounts for her, he had been purposely ignoring her. No matter how much she called him, he never picks up the phone and he gave stern warning to his workers at the company to never let her in no matter the circumstances. This was the measure of Michael's commitment to making things right with Fiona. Meanwhile, Prisca seethed with anger and anxiety, fearing that his cold treatment was a prelude to abandoning her once her pregnancy reached its term.Did he want to get rid of her that badly?? After all the promises they made to each other?? They were meant to be mates instead!! Everyone supported their union; his mom and his sister knew she was the right one for him.Everyone gave their support except for his father. He was the only one who d
