LOGINFreda’s POV
I opened and closed my mouth in awe.
“How did…” Ava pointed at the fleet of cars in front of us.
It was as if someone had prepared these cars for this moment. The cars were seated in the open space, waiting for any occupant.
Freda’s POVMy head pounded as if fifty people were marching in it. The night was extremely long, and sleep eluded me. I stared at the ceiling all night. Countless times, I tried to mind-link Craig, but it was all futile. At daybreak, I was the first to leave the room in search of Greg. The Image of the red dot was plastered on my mind. I was planning to go find Greg, but my leg found its way to the system room. Slowly, I moved, not wanting to alert or wake anyone who was still asleep. Opening the door quietly, I glanced back. There was no one there. Sharon's words registered in my mind. The people might think I was a betrayer if they found me here, but my only goal was to rescue Craig. I closed the door back with a silent prayer to the goddess that no one else would come in. I moved to the system Greg had shown me, but the red dot wasn’t there anymore. My heart pulsed. My eyes moved around the system; maybe he had moved to another place. But the more I looked, the more it beca
Craig’s POV“Do you mean Clayton?”She moved back, her eyes darting around as if searching for something. I moved closer to her. Was this trap deeper than I thought?“Is it him?”She shook her head, moving frantically. “I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”But I wanted to hear all about it. I moved closer to her, and she had hit the wall, so there was nowhere for her to go anymore. It was just the two of us here with no escape. Why did they put her in the same room as me?I held her hand, slowly lifting her chin. I avoided where the bruises were, so as not to invoke a fresh pang of pain in her. “You can talk to me. I won’t hurt you.”She looked at me, then looked away. Slowly, she pulled her hand away from mine, twisting it together and staring at it like they were the most important thing to her. I sat back, creating a bit of distance between us. If I wanted her to trust me, I wasn’t going to pressure her. She looked up at me again, her gaze not meeting mine directly. “I was k
Freda’s POVI thought the night wouldn’t get worse, but I was mistaken. The room was so small that in a few steps we could round the whole room. There were two beds alone, and we were six occupants waiting at the door. My gaze moved to Ava. She shrugged. “I think we should share three on a bed.”“Are you kidding me?” Sharon retorted. “What do you mean by three on a bed. This bed can’t contain me alone.” Before we knew it, she had run and jumped onto the bed closest to the window. She sprawled herself wide on the bed, leaving no space for others. Ava moved herself from my side, rushing to Sharon’s side and pulling her off the bed. Sharon landed on the fall with a big thud. “If anyone deserves to sleep on the floor, it’s you.”Sharon dragged herself up, shaking off an invisible dust. The floor was neat from my view. She rushed towards Ava, but before she could reach her. I ran towards her, grabbing hold of her arms. She yelled, trying to pull her hand from mine, but I held on fast
Craig’s POVWe were dragged from what I assumed was Clayton’s throne room, right back to the room they had brought me out from, but this time, I wasn’t alone. I had a roommate - the lady with the mark. The men threw her carelessly on the floor, making her gasp for air, before letting out that random cough again. My heart ached that she had to go through what she had no idea about, especially since she was just innocent. Yet, I was thankful it wasn’t Freda in that position. The moment the men left, I dragged my feet to where she remained lying on the floor. I turned her, making sure her face was facing upward. “Are you okay?”She let out coughs, then clutched my hand again. “Please, help me.” She coughed; this time, it was accompanied by drops of blood. I cursed, helping her to sit upright so that she would feel better. But all she did was hold my cloth strongly. “Please… help…me.” Each word was punctuated with a loud cough. My hand lifted her back. “Please, stop talking. You ar
Freda’s POVGreg turned to us. “We found Craig’s location.”A sharp tone played in my ears, and all I could hear was ‘we found Craig’s location’. I tried to leave where I was at the edge of the door, but I couldn’t take a step forward.Sheila jumped. “What are you waiting for? Ask for the location.”Unlike me, Ava ran beside Greg, staring at the screen as if she understood everything. No one spared me a glance as they focused on whatever they were looking at.I had to force myself to join them at the screen.A small red d
Craig’s POV“Well, I have a gift for you.”I moved back on instinct. I hated how close he was to me.His smirk grew bigger. He moved around me, his gaze narrowed like someone eyeing a prey he was about to kill.Maybe that was all I was to him.A prey.I moved back. Then he moved backward, dragging himself back to his seat. Then he clapped his hands dramatically. My eyes narrowed at the door.
Freda’s POVMy eyes scoured over the words on the pamphlet. Every word burned into my mind, and at some point, I found myself crying for the pains they must have gone through. It was hard to believe anyone had actually survived whatever they did. I was not just a member, I was their hope of exist
Craig's POV The rest of society wasn't my favorite place to be. People came in and out, banging the restaurant’s door and making noise. I turned towards Greg. “Why do we have to meet in such a noisy place?”He looked around, a hint of amusement on his face. “Eric thought it was best to meet wher
Freda’s POVSomething was wrong. I could tell from the way Craig had stood up. Yet, he assured me everything was fine. When I left his office, I had no intention of running away and hiding. I might not have trained much, but I was willing to help in any way I could. I didn’t move in the direction
Freda’s P.O.V Fatigue was an understatement of how I felt when Greg asked us to stop training. Everyone was long gone from the training ground, and the moon was starting to show itself.I held my leg, sulking in breaths of hair. My gaze moved to an impeccable Grey, who stood with a wide smile on h
