I woke up to something wet on my chest. Immediately, I grimaced. A blonde was sprawled across me, dead asleep and apparently drooling. Fantastic. What the hell was her name again? Tiffany? Tracy? Something with a T. I stared down at her with growing irritation. Honestly, she wasn’t nearly as attractive this morning as she had been last night. Especially not with drool sliding down the side of her mouth onto my skin. God, that was disgusting. I shoved her shoulder lightly. “Hey,” I muttered. “Wake up.” She groaned but didn’t move. I shoved her again harder this time. “What?” she whined sleepily, finally lifting her head off my chest. “What time is it?” “Time for you to leave.” Her eyes blinked open slowly. “Seriously?” “Very seriously.” I sat up against the headboard with a sigh. “It was fun. It’s morning now. You gotta go.” “You’re such an asshole,” she snapped. “I know.” I shrugged. “Now are you getting off me willingly, or do I need to physically remove you?” To my surprise, she smirked and leaned closer. “What if I don’t want to leave?” she purred. “Maybe I could make you feel better first.” God. She really didn’t get it. I wasn’t interested anymore. Not even remotely. And honestly? Ethan’s stupid comments from last night had ruined the entire experience anyway. Now all I could think about was the possibility that our mate had moved into the house. “Our little nanny situation has officially killed the mood,” I muttered. “What?” “Nothing.” My tone sharpened instantly. “Look, one night was enough. Get dressed and get out before I carry you outside myself.” Her mouth fell open. Then she scrambled away from me looking offended. Good. I wiped my hand across my chest in disgust. Drool. Actual drool. I needed a shower immediately. The second she disappeared out my bedroom door, I muttered, “Thank fuck.” I headed straight for the bathroom. Hot water pounded against my skin while I scrubbed away the lingering perfume and the awful sticky feeling on my chest. But even under the spray, another scent kept creeping into my senses. Coconut. Warm vanilla. Sunshine. My wolf stirred instantly beneath my skin. Shit. Ethan was right. Our mate was here. I shut the water off abruptly and grabbed the nearest towel. By the time I pulled on sweatpants and a shirt, her scent had become even stronger. It drifted directly through the hallway outside my room. I opened my bedroom door slowly. The hallway was empty. But her scent lingered everywhere. My pulse immediately sped up. She’d been here. Recently. I stepped farther into the hallway, following the intoxicating trail automatically. Straight toward the bedroom across from mine. Lily’s nanny room. Of course. “Damn it,” I muttered. Not only was our possible mate living in the house… She was directly across the hall from me. This was going to be absolute torture. I shut my eyes briefly, trying to calm both myself and my wolf before either of us did something reckless. Because every instinct inside me screamed to walk into that room, pin her against the wall, and mark her as ours. Mine and Ethan’s. Which was another massive problem. A nanny. Human. Mate to two future alphas. Our mother would lose her damn mind. I needed to talk to Ethan. Only then did I remember he hadn’t come home last night. Typical Ethan. Unlike me, he never brought women back to the house. Which meant he was probably still wherever he’d disappeared to with that redhead from the club. Lucky bastard. I glanced once more toward Olivia’s door. Her scent wrapped around me like temptation itself. Calling to me. Pulling at me. My wolf practically purred inside my head. Claim her. Nope. Absolutely not. I forced myself downstairs before I completely lost control. The second I reached the foyer, I spotted my mother standing near the staircase like she was waiting for someone. “Morning,” I greeted casually. “You waiting for somebody?” “Good morning to you too, Logan.” Her eyes narrowed instantly. “I see your little piece of trash from last night finally left.” I sighed. “Mom…” “Honestly,” she continued coldly, “if you insist on sleeping around, at least choose women with some dignity.” I blinked at her. “You know most mothers don’t critique their sons’ hookups over breakfast, right?” She ignored me completely. Instead, her attention remained fixed toward the staircase. “What are you waiting for?” I finally asked. “The nanny.” Ah. “There it is,” I muttered. “She officially moved in this morning,” my mother continued. “And before you say anything, yes, I already warned her to stay away from you boys.” I smirked slightly. “To be fair, Mom, you did raise four extremely attractive sons.” Her glare sharpened instantly. “Back off, Logan. She’s human.” I froze. Wait. What? “She’s human?” I repeated. “Why would you hire a human nanny to live inside the estate?” My mother sighed heavily. “Because Lily liked her,” she admitted. “Your sister actually smiled around the girl.” That immediately caught my attention. Lily barely tolerated most people. The fact that Olivia had gotten a genuine smile out of her? That was huge. “Oh,” I said quietly. “So yes,” my mother continued firmly, “I’m already taking a significant risk by allowing a human into this house. Which means I expect you and your brothers to behave.” Then suddenly she stopped talking. Because I felt it too. Her presence. My mate was here. I didn’t even have to turn around to know she stood behind me. Her scent crashed into me all at once—warm coconut, rain, vanilla. My wolf surged forward instantly. Mine. I clenched my fists hard enough to hurt. “Samantha,” my mother said smoothly behind me, “this is my son Logan.” I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t turn around. This could not be happening. “Hello, Logan,” came a soft voice behind me. And God help me… She sounded like heaven.OliviaPlaying hide-and-seek with Lily shouldn’t have been this entertaining. But the little girl was absolutely thrilled by it.Honestly, it almost felt like she didn’t get to play very often, which made me strangely sad for her. Most of her hiding spots were painfully obvious.Like right now.I could clearly see her tiny legs sticking out from behind a giant potted palm near the upstairs hallway. But I pretended not to notice.“Hmmm,” I said dramatically, tapping my chin. “Wow. Lily is really good at hiding. Wherever could she be?”I immediately heard muffled giggling from behind the plant.Cute.I noticed one of the nearby bedroom doors cracked slightly open.Perfect.I’d pretend to search there before “finding” her.“Hmmm…” I mused loudly. “Maybe she’s in here?”I pushed the bedroom door open. And instantly froze. Both Ethan and Logan were inside.Oh my God.I absolutely had not expected both of them to be standing there staring at me like I’d interrupted some top-secret meeting.
EthanLast night at the club should have helped distract me.It didn’t.No matter how much whiskey I drank, I couldn’t stop thinking about Olivia Carter.Specifically her eyes. Those sad green eyes haunted me all night long.I kept seeing them every time I closed my own.I tried drowning the thoughts in alcohol.Didn’t work.I tried losing myself in some blonde from the club. That failed too.The second she kissed me, disgust crawled through me so violently I nearly shoved her away immediately.Because she wasn’t my mate. And now that I’d seen my real mate?Every other woman suddenly felt wrong.I ended up turning the blonde down completely and checking into a hotel alone for the night.I couldn’t go back to the estate. Not while Olivia’s scent still lingered there.I needed space to think.Because this situation was a disaster. The mate bond had already started forming. I’d heard stories from older wolves about how quickly it could happen after first meeting your mate, but I’d never
OliviaI had just finished unpacking my things when I noticed a strange scent drifting through the room.Citrus.Fresh and sharp with something warm underneath it.It smelled incredible. For a second, I honestly thought the Hawthornes must use some insanely expensive air freshener throughout the mansion because I had never smelled anything like it before.Curious, I left my room to go find Mrs. Hawthorne. As I descended the staircase, I spotted the back of a tall dark-haired man standing at the bottom.Ethan? No… wait.Mrs. Hawthorne had introduced the other twin yesterday. This one had to be Logan. As I stepped closer, I realized Mrs. Hawthorne had been speaking quietly to him, but the second she noticed me, she immediately stopped.“Olivia,” she said smoothly, “this is my son Logan.”Right.Twin number two.“Hello, Logan,” I said politely. He didn’t turn around.Okay… weird. Was this some rich people thing? Because honestly it just came across as rude.“Logan,” Mrs. Hawthorne said s

OliviaEarly the next morning, I loaded the last of my things into my car.Thank God Uncle Mike replaced the battery yesterday. There was no way I could drag a suitcase and a storage box across town on a bus while moving into the Hawthorne estate. After packing the trunk, I walked back inside the house and paused in the living room.It felt strange knowing I wouldn’t be sleeping here tonight.Part of me was excited.Another part felt horribly guilty.Like I was abandoning my father.“The place won’t feel the same without you, kiddo.”I turned at the sound of my father’s voice.“Hey, Dad.”He stood near the hallway looking tired but sober.“It’s going to be okay,” he said quietly. “I know you need to live your own life. I’ve been selfish keeping you tied here.”“Dad, I—”I stopped myself because honestly, I didn’t know what to say.He gave a weak smile.“No, it’s true.” He shoved his hands into his pockets. “I’ve been a mess since your mother died. I should’ve been the one holding thin
Olivia“I still don’t understand why you have to live in that house,” my father said quietly. We sat in our tiny living room, the old television humming softly in the background. Dad was in his recliner while I sat curled up on the couch across from him, explaining everything about my new job.For once, he was sober enough for us to actually have a conversation.“Dad,” I said gently, “it’s part of the position. I have to stay there so I can take care of Lily.”“You don’t understand, Liv.” He rubbed a tired hand over his face. “Those people aren’t normal.”I sighed.“I know they’re rich. I know they practically own this town,” I replied. “But can’t you see how huge this opportunity is for me?”“It’s not about the money.” His voice lowered. “There are things about the Hawthornes you don’t know.”I frowned.“And you do?”His silence answered enough.“Dad,” I said softly, “I can’t keep living like this. I need my own life too.”The second the words left my mouth, pain flashed across his f
