I noticed it on the plane.

The way Sofia was sitting—too still, too quiet.

Sofia was always composed, but this was different. Heavier. Like something was pulling her down from the inside.

I looked at her once.

I told myself it was because of last night.

The kiss.

What I had said.

The way she had grabbed her bag and walked away with tears she was trying not to show. The way the door had closed behind her with a quietness that somehow felt louder than a slam.
