Phoebe’s POV

I stood frozen, feeling a cold numbness spreading through my chest, as if I was staring at a ghost, not a person. I blinked repeatedly, thinking it was the aftereffect of my stay in the clinic. Unfortunately, it wasn't a hallucination. Shock, happiness, confusion, and fear came over me all at once. “How is she still alive? I watched her die.” Sudden dizziness washed over me, my legs going weak like jelly.

“Im…impossible!” I managed to speak, clutching my throbbing head. “You died

Chapter 26: AssassinationPhoebe’s POVMy breathing became shallow, sudden dizziness washing over me. “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault,” Lucas whispered, his voice thick with regret, turning his usual confident tone into a shaky monotone. “When you shifted, I was awed and caught off guard, leading to my inability to act swiftly when I sensed someone approaching.” His eyes darted towards the door, his chin dipping towards his chest. “I immediately covered you with my body. But it was too late. His eyes…they saw it.” “Lucas, it’s not your fault. Don’t beat yourself about it,” I said, holding his hands which had become sweaty. “Did anyone else see—?”“No no. Only him.” A dead, heavy silence fell. The air filled with thick tension. I took a deep breath, a little bit of relief washing over me. The less people who knew, the safer I’d be. My mind was a mess. The weight of the secret presses heavily on me. I wondered what Mr. Grim reaper would do with this information. The cafeteria buzzed w

Chapter 25: A tale of two tailsPhoebe’s POVI held Lucas’s tighter, trying to ease the burning pains in my bones. My wolf fought relentlessly within me, trying to come out, to escape the anguishing torment. My mother’s warnings rang in my head “Try as much as possible to hide your identity.” I squeezed my eyes shut, to prevent anyone from seeing them ignite with the unique violet glow. Then, Mr. Grim reaper appeared. His presence, a chill that swept through me. His gaze was predatory, pure curiosity crossing his face. “Well, well, well. What do we have here?” His low and unsettling voice rang out. “Hiding something?” He continued, a smirk playing on his lips. With that, he pushed Lucas away with just one hand, as if he was just an annoying housefly. My heart hammered in my chest, my body trembling like a leaf in the wind. He drew closer, his approach like a death sentence. A beam of sweat appeared on my forehead, the fear of being exposed, overshadowing the excruciating pains. “Phoe

Chapter 24: Wolfsbane testLucas’s POVSudden emptiness echoed in my chest as I sat on the bed in my room. My tummy burned as if I had consumed fire. My wolf whimpered, obviously because of the pains. “Why are we feeling this way?” I murmured, clutching my chest tightly. “Mate,” Lucian, my wolf rasped, his voice thick with anguish. “She’s not hurt so why…this?” I wondered in my head. After a while, color drained from my face as I suddenly realized. The only explanation felt like razors slashing my heart: she was having something intimate with another. “Eric!” I spat, my jaw tightening at the thought of his hands on her skin. I gnashed my teeth, my hands clenched into fists as I flung the table against the wall, smashing the cup of tea on it. “Why is she still having something with Eric?” I roared, my muscles tensed. “Or does she love him? Is she just with me because of the bond?” The questions clawed at my mind. Images, unwanted and unwelcome, flashed in my head—Eric’s hands, the way

We buried you.”A wide smile spread across her face. “Well, you can see I’m still hale and healthy.” She leaned against the wall casually as if we were discussing the weather. “But…how?” “I faked my death,” she replied, her low soft voice devoid of emotion while she picked her nails like it was more important than the conversation. My breath hitched, my hands clenched into fists. “Eight years, eight good years and you never showed up. You didn’t look back. You never cared,” I choked, my voi

Chapter 22 : Reveals Lucas’s POV The green vines surged from the ground, coiling around me like venomous serpents till I was breathless, gasping for air. The world tilted, my consciousness leaving me slowly as I could feel my lungs getting crushed by the vines. Its thorns tore violently into my flesh, draining every ounce of life from me. “Is this how we’re going to die,” Aurora whispered, her once energizing voice, now cracked with despair. Looking around, every one of us looked extremely pale, obviously at death’s door. “Truly, was this how it was going to end?” I asked myself, my chest aching. Only Phoebe was the only one who didn’t look ashen, her brows were furrowed, her hands clenched into a fist. “I never told Phoebe…I never told her she was my mate.” My gaze lingered on Phoebe’s face, as if burning her image into my head. “Moon goddess, I swear, if granted another opportunity, I’ll fight for our love. I won’t reject her.” I took a deep breath, pure regret washing over m

Chapter 21 : Death trap Phoebe’s POVSpotting Lucas, my heart skipped a beat. Standing opposite the training room, I came face to face with a mature man that had a striking resemblance to Lucas. Black hair, 6 '5 in height and was extremely handsome despite his old age. The only difference was the color of their eyes; his were black while Lucas’s were grey. With narrowed eyes, he scrutinized my face, his piercing gaze making me freeze. After a while, he finally tore his gaze away, walking majestically. I gasp, releasing the breath I never knew I was holding. “Phoebe,” that familiar low and husky voice called out. Turning around, it was Lucas, his face rapidly turning red. “I…I don’t think you should be here,” he stammered, slightly fidgeting his hands. “Why?” I asked, my chest tightening. He immediately looked away, his eyes darting around, intentionally avoiding mine. “So he doesn’t want me? Just like the rest.” I forced back the tears that threatened to fall and turned around walk
