Chapter 2

Penulis: Triple Threat
Everyone immediately got it.

"Don't worry, our lips are sealed."

"Tsk, getting her college application changed to a place thousands of miles away from home is a fair price for Theo's attention."

Everyone laughed at that statement.

Lily looked at Theo with starry eyes. He affectionately returned her gaze.

They looked like they were living in their own world. I could not help but burst into tears.

I thought to myself that I would never get back with Theo ever again.

So, I decided not to join the class reunion. Instead, I immediately went home.

On the way home, I kept receiving text messages.

Theo urged me to hurry up and be there at the class reunion.

[Do you know what time it is? Why aren't you here yet? Everyone's waiting for you.]

[You're embarrassing me.]

The other few friends also mentioned me in the group chat.

[Emma, are you alright? It's not nice of you to be this late for our first class reunion after graduation.]

[Lily's here early. You're the only one who's late.]

[Welp, she's the genius in our class, and she's going to North University soon. No wonder she looks down on us.]

Fiona sent a laughing emoji.

Immediately after, all classmates also sent the same emoji to mock me.

I stared at my phone as my fingernails dug into my palm.

The feeling of being shunned reminded me of my junior high school days.

Because of my introverted nature and good grades, everyone did not like me.

Some classmates drew on my books, and I was always left alone during PE class.

I constantly heard people whispering my name during recess and free periods. Sometimes, they would laugh.

When I turned around, they would act as though nothing had happened.

I felt so uncomfortable, like the feeling of an uncut tag on a sweater constantly scratching against my skin.

It would scratch me from time to time, yet it left no wounds.

At that time, Theo was in a different homeroom. It was two floors away from my homeroom.

However, when he realized something was wrong, he immediately went to my homeroom and warned everyone.

He claimed that I was the most important person to him, and no one was allowed to bully me.

During the entire freshman year, he would accompany me to go to school and home. He would even visit me during recess, and he missed the bell a few times because of that.

Even my parents said, "Theo's such a good kid."

They were happy for us to be a couple.

However, he changed my college application and led the entire class in shunning me.

I typed on my phone.

[I've heard it. Don't pretend anymore…]

Theo replied in the group chat.

[Alright, stop joking. If Emma cries and complains to her parents, I'll still have to pacify her later.]

I stared at that sentence and did not cry.

I suppressed my tears.

Then, I deleted the words I typed and put my phone away. I did not reply to any one of the text messages. All I did was go back to my parents.

After giving them a brief rundown of the night, my mother teared up as she felt sorry for me.

"How could Theo possibly do that? I can't believe he's allowing people to bully you like that.

"I'll talk to his parents tomorrow. How could he be such a bully…"

My father's expression darkened as he went to his study. Then, he brought his laptop to the living room and comforted me.

"There's still time now for us to change your college application back."

I looked at their concerned gazes and shook my head.

"No, I'm not going to change it."

My mother was stunned. She held my hand and questioned me very worriedly.

"Emma, have you really thought this through? That's been your dream university all throughout high school."

My father was very busy at work, so he was rarely at home. However, my mother knew how much I aspired to go to North University.

I had North University posters on my walls, and I wrote my aspirations to North University in my journals.

However, she did not know that I only liked North University because of Theo.

Things were no longer the same.

I wanted to live my own life.

It would be a life without Theo.

I looked up and said firmly, "I'm not going to change the college application.

"In the first place, I wanted to go to North University because of Theo.

"But he changed my college application and got together with another girl. He even shunned me with the other classmates…

"I don't want him anymore.

"I want to go to South University!"

That summer, I did not meet up with any of my classmates.

However, they kept talking about me in the group chat.

Some of them said that I was aloof and arrogant for not participating in any class activities.

Someone even asked Theo in the group chat when he would be breaking up with me. They told him to not lower his standards in choosing a partner.

Sometimes, someone would even share a video of South University and mention me and then pretend like they had sent it by mistake.

Whenever that happened, other classmates would send stickers to mock me.

I turned around and wanted to leave. He suddenly asked with a hoarse voice, "Emma, if I hadn't changed your college application back then, do you think we'd end up differently?"I paused in my tracks. The breeze blew gently against my veil.I turned to him and smiled calmly. "Maybe, but you changed it, so there's no 'what if'." After saying that, I no longer looked at him. When the security guards brought him away, he called out my name desperately. His voice was carried away by the sea breeze. Very soon, I could no longer hear him. I walked back to William. He looked at me with pride and love. "Are you alright?"I nodded. "I'm great." The ceremony continued. The moment he put the ring on me, the sun shone on the sea as the sea glistened. William leaned down to kiss me. The crowd erupted into cheers and applause. I shut my eyes and felt extremely light. After that, I uploaded our wedding photo to social media with a caption. If I could, I would go back and hug her and tell her to not be afraid. The South was a wonderful place, and I would do good too. I would meet a lot of sincere friends and study a major that I truly liked. I would stand on the stage while receiving awards, and I would meet a man who truly loved me. He would not alter my college application or laugh at my dreams. He also would not treat my tears as a joke. All this while, he had only respected and protected me, allowing me to be the best version of myself. My father placed my hand in William's palm. He teared up and sobbed, "Emma, happy marriage." I nodded. "Thanks, Dad." William held my hand. The priest asked if he was willing to marry me. He answered, "I do." When it was my turn, I looked him in the eyes and said with a smile, "I do." Everyone clapped. My mother cried like a child. My college friends were laughing and cheering. Then, my friends from UN society shouted, "Emma, keep shining forever!"

"I'm standing here today, not just for myself, but also for all the victims who had been bullied, shunned, ridiculed, yet asked to be the bigger person."You didn't do anything wrong. "The victims should never be the ones who apologize or pay the price."After I said that, I refused to answer any further questions. William held my hand as we got into the car. The moment the car door was shut, it also shut all the commotion outside. I leaned against the car seat and let out a long sigh. William turned to look at me. "You're awesome." I laughed. "It sounds like you're humoring me." He pondered for a while and said, "My fiancée is acting like a queen today." I could not help but laugh. The car drove away from the courthouse. I saw Theo running after the car from the rearview mirror. He stood behind the crowd and kept calling my name. "Emma! Emma!" I did not turn back. His figure became smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror, and he finally disappeared

I sat on the plaintiff's side, and I felt I was transported back in time. Ten years ago, those words once cut deep into my heart.Ten years later, I only found them ridiculous. Alec asked Theo, "Do you admit that you've logged into Emma's account and altered her college application?"Theo remained silent for a long moment, before he finally answered with a hoarse voice. "Yes, I admit that." Alec continued, "Do you admit that when others humiliated and ridiculed Emma, not only did you not stop them, but you also joined them in bullying her?"Theo gulped. "Yes." "Do you admit that in the class reunion ten years later, you hit Emma, and forcefully dragged her?""Yes." Every time Theo admitted to a question asked, I felt another door shut in my heart. Those were the doors to the past. I would no longer open them. The other classmates sitting at the defendant's table started to panic. Some of them cried, "I was just going along with everyone else.""I didn't mean

He smiled. "Should we push the wedding back, then?""No." I immediately answered. William was stunned. I looked at him and said seriously. "I'm suing them for closure for my younger self."But I won't put my happiness on hold because of them." William's eyes softened into a smile. He bent down and kissed my forehead. "Alright. "Then, I'll continue with the wedding preparations."I teased him on purpose. "You're so busy, how are you going to personally prepare for that?"He held my hand and rubbed the ring on my wedding finger. "I don't want others to work on our wedding. I'm the one who's marrying you." My heart melted. He had healed me from all the humiliation, betrayal, and my broken heart. It wasn't about proving anything to Theo. It was just a reminder for myself that I deserved to be cherished. On the day the trial began, many reporters were gathered outside. It went viral a few times online. Initially, some people claimed that I was only pu

"Isn't Emma doing quite well now? I heard she's marrying a CEO."Fiona just became a civil servant. If she's sued, her future would be ruined." My mother sneered. "I don't know whether your daughter's future will be ruined."But my daughter was almost ruined by Fiona and the rest when she was just eighteen." Ruby was speechless. My mother continued, "Besides, don't say that my daughter's marrying well. "She worked very hard for what she has today."It has nothing to do with bullies like you." After she hung up, my mother turned around to hug me. She had a lot of gray hair compared to ten years ago. "Emma, I was always afraid of poking your wounds back then, so I didn't dare to ask. "It's only now that I know how much you suffered when you were alone in South City."I hugged her and whispered, "It's over now." My mother shook her head. "Even if it's over, they should apologize to you."We don't owe them anything." I teared up and nodded fiercely. She was r
