Gabbie POV
I watched her sleep. It sounded creepy, but I was her mate it didn’t count with me. I brushed her strawberry hair from her face. She was glowing. I smirked. I didn’t expect her to break into the alpha castle. I was shocked when she burst into my room. It turned me on. Her expression when she saw me naked was even better. I thought I’d have to stay mad at my little omega for the whole day but I couldn’t stay mad at her eyes.
She rolled on her back and rubbed her eyes. She looked around the room as if she had forgotten where she was then her green eyes landed on me. She blinked a few times. Gosh, Gabbie was gorgeous and so tempting, how I had gone this long without mating her was insane.
“Hey, sweetheart,” I said.
“Hey… how long have I been out?”
“An hour, why?”
“I missed a class.” She sat up, holding the sheets to her chest.
I growle
Gabbie POVThere was no time to go back to the quarters and get another thong, so I had to go to my next class which was sewing. It was a class didn’t require that much movement so I didn’t have to worry about doing anything risky that might expose my butt and vagina. This was a class that only women took. Blair wasn’t in this class because she was a year ahead of me. Emery was still here because she kept flunking this class.“Hand over your work by tomorrow morning. Remember, we have midterms in two weeks. Class dismissed.”“Mid-terms? Do we go home after that?” I asked Emery. She bobbed her head. “If you want to. Last year, Dixon pack gammas and betas were told to stay for extra training, because they were facing an invasion.”I get to see Mom.“If you do badly on your exams, you have to go to summer school. Imagine I had to be here just because of this stupid class!”I grimaced. I needed to make up for that hospitality class. I couldn’t stay here!“What did Kade do to Harlow?” She
Gabbie POV “Hey, what are you doing around here?” Alex appeared, stopping me in my tracks. He stood under the orange sky. Shoulders back and hands shoved in his pockets as he walked toward me.I tugged my coat around myself and stared at the rocks near my feet. Alex caught me going to the Alpha castle to see Kade. I hadn’t expected to bump into him.“Going for a walk. Trying to clear my head.” I shrugged. He closed the distance between us. The wind zipped through us, sending the scent of his cologne straight to my face. “That all, Gabbie? You don’t come this close to the castle.”“Yeah,” I swallowed the lump in my throat.“Mind if I join you then?”I shot a quick glance at the castle. Kade’s room was on the other side. I nodded, so much for seeing Kade tonight. Maybe this was the opportunity I needed to tell Alex the truth. He bumped my shoulder on our walk away from the castle. The action felt normal for friends, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that things had changed between us.
My basketball hit the ceiling. I couldn’t believe she didn’t show up. I threw the ball in the air the second it reached my palms. I kept her thong on my nightstand for her to see when she walked in.But she never came. I can’t believe she blew me off.I went downstairs to grab something to eat before I stepped out.“Alex, babe, have you heard?” Leiah purred.I poured myself a black coffee when I overheard her.“What?” Alex snapped.Interesting tone. What had him in a mood?“You’re in a mood. I just thought you’d like to know your little omega best friend has a mate.”The mug in my grip was seconds from breaking.“What? Who? What are you talking about?” Alex blasted.Gabbie didn’t tell him and Harlow managed to convince her friend not to tell Alex about what happened with Gabbie in the woods. Not that she could without implicating herself. Leiah didn’t know Gabbie and I were fated mates in her mind, she was my bedm
My father waited for me in Athena’s office. My father wasn’t the type for social visits. I hadn’t seen him in six months. When I walked into the office, he cracked a smile. He wasn’t the type to smile often. I didn’t know which way to interpret this.“Son, you look good.”“Dad, what are you doing here?”He reclined on Athena’s chair like he owned the place. He might as well, considering the amount of money Sanders' pack donated to the academy. He chuckled and stood, “Kade, always straight to the point. How are your preparations for the battle season? You haven’t come home for your ritual.”My father had started going grey, and the laugh lines around his eyes were defined. He was counting on me to take over as alpha as soon as I graduated.“I don’t need to do that, Dad.”“You were intent on it a few months ago,” Dad raised his br
Gabbie POV“You told your father about us?” My hands trembled.“Harlow did,” Kade mumbled. He stood between Athena and me. My principal had a duty to hand me over to one of the most powerful alphas in the shifter community but my mate had a duty to protect me. I had the will to live and wouldn’t let myself die.The classroom was on the second floor of McGregor Castle. It would be quite a drop, but if I hung onto the window and climbed into another room, I would be out of the frying pan and onto the counter. I didn’t need my belongings, I needed safety. While Kade and Athena conversed, I scurried to the window. A tall, wide window without burglar bars. I unlocked the latch and heaved it up.“Gabbie?”“Don’t—” I plastered myself against the wall.“I won’t let him hurt you.”“He’s your dad, and Athena has to obey him.”“This is still my school. There’s a bus waiting for you at the front gate. It’s going to take your home.”“How do I know I can trust you? You could still hand me over.” I
Gabbie POV“Don’t worry, love, you’re safe now. Get comfortable, it’s going to be a long bus ride,” The man driving the worn-down bus smile.“They aren’t going to come after us?”He shook his head, “We’ll be fine.”I dozed off. Kade was an Alpha wolf, and those were his pack members; they wouldn’t kill him. I had to convince myself they hadn’t injured or killed my mate. I couldn’t kill the fear of never seeing him again, though.I woke as the bus screeched to a halt, jolting me forward. I rubbed my eyes and peered round the seat to the windscreen. I caught sight of trees illuminated by front porch lights. The house next door was black with only the light from the neighbours shining on it.“This is your stop, dear.”I swallowed. “Are you sure?”He nodded. The bus doors opened. I didn’t have a bag to carry. All I had remained at the academy.“Take care,” the bus driver said.I nodded and gave him my thanks. I rubbed my hands as I walked to the front door. The light from the neighbour’s
Gabbie POVI unlocked the door and threw it open. If it was a trick I would have been killed on the spot. My chest heaved as I stared at Kade standing on my doorstep. I flew into his arms. Kade encased me in his arms. A series of sobs rattled my body.“It’s you,” I sobbed.Kade stroked my hair and kissed my shoulder. “Hey Babe.”I peeked over his shoulder to make sure no one was watching. Our two packs weren’t exactly allies. Then I noticed the blue pickup truck in my driveway.“How did you find me?” I dragged him inside and locked the door.He looked around my home, some of the furniture still covered with bedsheets. The air was still stuffy and thanks to my digging around the dust had spread. He settled on me and smiled. He cupped my cheeks and chuckled.“I couldn’t stay away from you for long.”“I was worried you got hurt. They didn’t…”His features darkened. “I had a bad conversation with my father which resulted in me being thrown out a window.”“Kade!”“He’ll pay for what he wha
Gabbie POVI almost forgot we had an attic. Searching for anything up there in a house without power at night wasn’t wise. Kade and I shackled up there, going through boxes, many of which needed to be tossed out. The roof had a leak, which damaged most of the cardboard.I watched Kade sit on a rickety camp chair that was hanging on for dear life. He pulled out the damaged file after the damaged file. He slapped the next file on the ground and leaned back on the chair. I cracked a smile and went back to the pictures in my hand. I tilted my head at the next one. Most of them were photos of Mom and I, but the one I held was of a man I hadn’t seen in years, beside him stood a man I knew from town.“Kade… I know this man next to my Dad.”“Yeah?”“He owns a hardware store in town. I mean, I hope he hasn’t skipped town either.”“Want to head over there?”I sucked my bottom lip. What if I didn’t like what I found out? I wouldn’t know until I found out. I slipped into the passenger seat of Kad
Gabbie POVThe beta goons were capable of snapping my flimsy arms. If they wanted to get rid of me, they would make sure I didn’t survive. Kade filled the doorframe and dared them to come any further. The goons must have been caught in two minds because they couldn’t hurt the only heir to the Sanders pack.“Out of the way, Kaden. I warned you this would happen!” Aiden Sanders bellowed. My heart leapt into my throat. He wouldn’t hurt his son. He wanted me.Images of Gareth’s pain, when his mate was killed, flashed in my mind rapidly. The black mark appeared on his chest when she died. If Kade were hurt, a part of my soul would leave with him. He was stubborn and would provoke a fight.I needed to find a way to get out of this without us getting hurt, but the chances for me were devastatingly low.“I told you I’m not leaving her! She’s my fated mate, get that into your thick head.”Aiden fisted Kade’s shirt. “Rejection was created to get us out of the moon goddess’s messes! The Alpha of
Gabbie POVKade pulled out the chair for me and then moved to sit across from me. He had all the chairs and desks in the classroom removed, but I couldn’t get over the necklace. When did he have time to buy this?It was a big rock. I could see my face in it. Kade had good taste in jewellery. I’d treasure this forever. I brushed the cold stone and smiled. Kade’s chuckle made me snap my head up.“What?”“Am I going to get any attention tonight?”“After this? I’ll give you anything you want!”He laughed. He placed an open hand on the table and stared at me. I squeezed his hand. I had to address the elephant in the room. Could it be worse than my Dad telling me the woman I cherished as my Mom wasn’t my Mother?“What’s on your mind, baby?”“A lot, Kade.”His brows dipped. A woman in black pants and a white shirt walked in holding a notepad. She smiled at us.“Ready to order?” She asked.“Give us a minute, please,” Kade saidShe bobbed her head and turned to leave.“Want to talk about it?”
Gabbie POV“I’m sorry I ditched you. It’s his damn scent. It drives me crazy,” Leiah said.“Ivan?” I whispered.“I don’t want people to know!” She hissed.Leiah supervised the omegas decorating the Alpha’s VIP seating area for the semi-finals of the battle season in one day.“How’s he doing? That battle with Harlow was intense,” I asked, picking garbage and leaves that blew here from the forest.“He’s pissed. His family’s even madder.”Tomorrow night Kade’s family and Alex’s family will sit on this stage with the instructors and lecturers of the academy to watch this match that could leave me without either one of them. I sucked in a breath and willed myself to think positively. No one was dying.“Have you spoken to Harlow lately?” I asked. She lifted a shoulder. “No, she’s focused on winning this thing. I’m kind of scared for Gareth. He’s not serious at times.”“Leiah, she killed his mate. He’s as serious about this as it gets.”I tied a knot in my second garbage bag of the day. I wa
Gabbie POV“Don’t cry,” Kade whispered in my ear. “What do you want me to do?”I sniffled as my tears stained his arm. “Just hold me.”“I can do a little more than that,” he whispered, kissing the side of my face.“Kade… I don’t know where my mind is right now.”“Don’t think, Gabbie. Forget about your mind and think about your body. Scratch that, let me worry about your body.”Kade slipped away from her strong embrace and hovered above me. He went in full force. Kade dominated me, showing me his passion and desire. I could cling to him to absorb the stress and the tension in my body.Kade vehemently sucked on my swollen clit. I stretched out my arms for anything to hold on to but there was nothing but concrete. Kade was evil. He pulled back just when I was about to cum. He withheld his touch when I was aching for relief.“Have I told you how good you smell?” Kade panted.“Maybe,” I moaned. He’d been doing this when I was about to orgasm. He stopped and I shot his daggers but it was us
Gabbie POV“Are you sure you’re feeling okay?” Kade said, trying to change the subject.“Nice try, Kade.”“I’m genuinely concerned about you.”He rolled out of bed and walked to the bathroom.“Then why are you walking away?”“Can’t a guy use the bathroom?”I followed him to the bathroom. He threw his head back and groaned.I planted my hands on my hips and narrowed my eyes.“You’re more than a wolfless… You’re a Luna. Did you forget?”I dropped my arms. I was mated to an Alpha, which meant I would be co-ruler of the Sanders pack when Kaden is crowned Alpha. I walked back to the room. That was more intimidating than facing Harlow again.“What? You’ll make a great Luna.”I didn’t want to get into the Sanders pack, not wanting a wolfless omega for a Luna. I gave Kade a pressed smile, climbed under the covers, and hid my head. It wasn’t long until my mate came after me.“Come here, sexy.”I wiggled to get away from him.“You can’t hide from me.”“Kade!’ I laughed. “I’m still in pain!”“So
Kade POV“Gabbie! Gabbie, wake up!” I shook her, but she wouldn’t wake.“The wolf’s bite is venomous,” Erik said.I shook my head. “No, no. We’ve had wolves attack before, and none of them had venom in them.”I picked her up. Help was coming. Among them were headmistress Athena and other high-ranking including Sanders' officials. “I’ll take care of her,” I told Erik.He shook his head, replacing his weapon with his belt.“I don’t trust you with my daughter.”“I’m trying to protect her damn it! I know who and what you are, Erik Chambers.”He stepped forward and grimaced. “What’s that supposed to mean, Sanders?”“I know why you’re running. I know what you do for a living. Your time’s up. Aiden Sanders and Ruben Henry are here. Aiden can’t know what Gabbie is for her own good. You have to leave!”“Fine! It’s only a matter of time before I’m reunited with your Father. If anything happens to Gabriella, there won’t be a Sanders wolf left in your pack.”I lifted my chin. I didn’t expect les
Gabbie POV“Let me go, Gareth!” I yelled. He locked my arms behind my back and kept me from darting onto the field.“What are you going to do? You can’t help him.”Kade was down fighting off the Alpha from Mandy. Why wouldn’t he fight? What was he waiting for? He’s better than this.It felt like the crowd held their breaths as Kade struggled to gain control.Holden watched with a clenched jaw as his Alpha was momentarily subdued.Ivan was stretchered off minutes ago. At least he was alive.I knew Leiah wanted to be with him, but she couldn’t.“Hey, Gabbie,” Alex said.Gareth released me only for me to rush into Alex’s arms.“Why won’t he do anything?” I asked.“Relax, Kade wouldn’t go out like this.” Alex wrapped me in his arms and stroked my hair.“If he does I’ll give him shit for the rest of his life,” Gareth puffed.I wiped my tears and remembered Leiah was around. I knew they broke up, but it had to be fresh. I tried to wiggle out of his hold, but Alex kept me bound.“Where were
Gabbie POVWalking around in my boyfriend’s clothes was an awkward experience, but this was a conversation I couldn’t put off any longer. Dad was given a room at the lecturer’s tower. It was tucked near the forest, far from McGregor Academy. All the lecturers were busy, so the place was abandoned. Except for a sharp, feminine voice. I stopped and stared at the partly open door.“When are you leaving?” Headmistress Athena snapped.“When I catch the wolf. I’m not going to leave it to roam free,” Dad replied. My heart slammed forward. I inched closer.“Are you insane? When they find out you’re here, there will be chaos!”“When they do find out I’m here, they’ll be anxious about what they did not know about my presence.”“You’re not thinking about your daughter.”“I’m always thinking about Gabriella. I wanted her to be safe, but instead, she mates with a shifter. An Alpha, too.”“Well, what did you expect?”“I didn’t think it through okay?”Athena sighed heavily. “If you’re always thinkin
Gabbie POVI woke with a start. A flash of white hair was the last thing I saw before I opened my eyes to a dark room. I palmed the space beside me. It was empty.“Kade!” I held the blanket to my chest.“I’m here, I’m here.”He slipped into bed and pulled me close. He kissed my cheek several times as he stroked the back of my neck.“I went to the bathroom.”“What time is it?”“Three in the morning. I may have knocked you out with Alpha power. I forget you’re not the best recipient of it.”“Oh,” I panted.“It’s okay, Gabbie. I’m here. I won’t let anything happen to you.”I nodded, but the overwhelming sense of anxiety wouldn’t allow me to understand his words. I felt like a sitting duck in this school. Harlow gained the help of a wolf who tried to assault me during the omega ceremony. There would be more wolves who wanted to take advantage of me because I didn’t have a wolf, but I couldn’t leave Kade.“Don’t cry, babe. I feel like a helpless fool when you cry.”I dried my tears and lau
