The cold wind whipped through the trees, tugging at my clothes as I stood by the edge of the pack’s borders. My heart pounded in my chest, a drumbeat of fear that echoed louder than the howls of wolves in the distance. The pack had ordered me to join the border patrol that morning, despite my blindness. I couldn’t make sense of it. Why would they send someone like me-a girl who couldn’t see a thing-out into the wild, where danger was lurking at every corner?

But what could I do? I was just an omega. A servant. An unwanted burden. I couldn’t afford to defy them. If I did, the punishment would be worse than anything I could imagine.

The sounds of the forest-the rustle of leaves, the snap of twigs-did nothing to reassure me. Every step I took felt like I was walking further into a nightmare, a world I couldn’t control. My instincts screamed at me to turn back, to run far from the patrol and the dangers it brought. But my packmates were already waiting for me, their eyes hard and cold as they watched me approach.

"You're late," Lucas sneered, his voice cutting through the quiet air. “We don’t have time to babysit.”

I clenched my fists, feeling the heat of anger surge through me, but I said nothing. I knew better than to show my emotions around them. It would only give them more reason to torment me. The last thing I wanted was to give them a reason to hurt me more.

They didn’t care that I was blind. To them, I was just an inconvenience, something to endure until they could send me off to do their bidding. I was a tool to be used, nothing more.

The leader of the patrol, a tall and muscular wolf named Jordan, glanced at me, his expression unreadable. He was one of the few who didn’t mock me openly. But I could sense the irritation in his eyes, the frustration at having to babysit me, the “unfit” omega. It was the same look I saw in every pack member’s gaze-those who thought I was weak, useless.

"Follow me," Jordan said gruffly, his tone leaving no room for argument.

I swallowed hard, forcing myself to take one hesitant step forward. My senses were heightened, sharper than they had ever been before, but nothing could replace sight. The world was a blur of smells, sounds, and touch, but none of it made it easier to navigate the treacherous forest.

I could feel the pack members flanking me on either side, their eyes trained on me, watching to see if I would falter. Their silence was more menacing than any words could be.

We walked for what felt like hours, the forest growing denser as we ventured deeper into the unknown. The smell of pine and damp earth filled my nose, and the cold air bit into my skin. My heart raced with every rustle of leaves, every snapping branch, convinced that danger was just around the corner. I wanted to run, to escape, but my legs carried me forward, driven by the fear of what would happen if I didn’t.

“Stay close,” Jordan ordered, his voice tense.

I nodded, though I wasn’t sure if he could hear me. My hands brushed against the rough bark of the trees as I walked, using them as a guide to keep myself steady. But even the trees couldn’t protect me from the real danger that lurked out here.

Suddenly, a low growl broke the silence, sending a chill down my spine. My body froze, every muscle locking in place. I could feel the shift in the air, the tension that had settled over us like a thick fog. My heart hammered in my chest, faster and faster, as I tried to locate the source of the sound.

I could hear the rustling of bushes, the soft padding of paws against the earth. My breath caught in my throat as I realized we weren’t alone. Something-someone-was out there, watching us, waiting for the right moment to strike.

"Stay alert," Jordan muttered, his voice low and commanding.

I could hear the pack members around me shifting, getting into position. But all I could do was stand there, feeling utterly helpless. The wolf inside me, the one that had been locked away for so long, stirred faintly in my chest, but it wasn’t enough to give me the strength I needed. It didn’t respond, didn’t wake, leaving me vulnerable and exposed.

The growling grew louder, closer, and I could hear the snarl of a wolf just beyond the tree line. It was only then that I realized what was happening. The Riverside pack-our enemy-had found us.

Before I could fully process the situation, the first wolf leapt from the shadows, a blur of teeth and fur. It slammed into one of our packmates, sending him crashing to the ground with a yelp of pain. The others reacted quickly, shifting into their wolf forms, snarling and snapping at the invaders.

I stood frozen, my heart thundering in my chest, as chaos erupted around me. My mind screamed at me to run, to get out of there before I was caught in the middle of a battle I wasn’t ready for. But my legs refused to move. I was paralyzed, unable to act, unable to protect myself.

"Clarissa!" Jordan shouted, his voice frantic. "Get to safety!"

I nodded instinctively, but I had no idea where safety was. I couldn’t see where the fight was taking place, couldn’t hear the direction of the attack over the noise of the chaos. I stumbled backward, trying to find some sort of cover, but it was useless. My body was too slow, too weak, and my fear kept me rooted to the spot.

Suddenly, I felt a rush of air behind me-a wolf, larger than any I had seen before, was barreling toward me. I didn’t have time to react. I could only hear its growl and feel the heat of its breath on my neck.

Before it could reach me, a dark shape appeared in front of me, blocking my path. The wolf collided with the shape, the force of the impact throwing it off course. I recognized the figure immediately.

Jordan.

He had thrown himself in front of me, taking the blow so I could escape.

"Go!" he snarled through gritted teeth, his body strained under the weight of the attack.

I hesitated, but only for a moment. I had no choice. I ran.

I didn’t know where I was running to, didn’t know what was safe anymore, but I ran as fast as I could, my heart pounding in my chest. The sounds of the battle faded behind me, but my fear never did.

  • The Omega Queen   Chapter 53

Drey's POV Trouble!I could smell the tension in the air long before I saw anything. It was sharp, metallic, and heavy. It was a scent I knew all too well.War was approaching, and it was doing so at a very fast rate. The knock on my door was so frantic such that one couldn't ignore it.I opened it to find Owen, one of the younger scouts, breathless and wide-eyed. "They're coming. The Crescent Moon pack. They're moving fast and they'll be here before dawn."My chest tightened. We'd known this would happen, but not this soon. Not like this."How many?" I asked. He shook his head, eyes glassy. "Too many, they should be att least fifty warriors. Maybe more. They're armed."I nodded once, silently. My heart hammered in my chest, but I couldn’t let the fear show. Not now."Sound the alarm. Wake the guards. Get the warriors to the yard in five minutes."Owen ran off, and I turned to throw on my gear. My thoughts were racing, but one name rose above the noise: Clarissa. Was she even alive?

  • The Omega Queen   Chapter 52

Tessy's POV The moment I stepped out of my room, I could feel the tension in the air. Everywhere seemed to be cold. Though the weather was cold but there was more than meets the eye. There was a weight, a kind of heaviness that had settled over the entire pack like a thick fog. People barely looked at each other anymore, and when they did, it was with suspicion or careful silence.Ever since Thompson took over, nothing had been the same.I pulled my coat tighter around me and headed to the kitchen to help Kayla with the morning prep. We always made extra tea now, not because the weather demanded it, but because nerves did. Warm mugs gave people something to hold, something to stop their hands from shaking.Kayla handed me a stack of mugs without a word, but her eyes said everything. She was worried just as we all were."Did you hear?" she finally said as we set the mugs on the table. "The patrol team from the eastern ridge didn't come back last night."I froze. "What?""Gone. No s

  • The Omega Queen   Chapter 51

Drey's POV RiverSide pack has been strangely quiet. It wasn’t the peaceful kind that characterized our pack runs or linger after council meetings. No, this one was heavier. It was tense and it was as though the entire pack was holding its breath, waiting for something to either explode or fall apart completely. Two weeks had passed since Elder Thompson defeated me in combat and claimed the Alpha title. And everything had changed since then.I sat outside the old pack training yard, watching warriors run through drills they didn’t care about. Their movements were slow and somehow robotic. It was apparent that there was no longer passion in them. The disunity amidst pack members was glaring. These were the same wolves who had once trained beside me, who had once looked to me not just as their leader, but as their brother. Now, they could barely look at me. I wasn’t Alpha anymore.I was a shadow.Still, I remained in the pack house because I had to. Clarissa was still missing but d

  • The Omega Queen   Chapter 50

Drey's POV It had rained earlier that day, and the scent of wet earth mixed with the sharp tang of anticipation. The night air was cold. Not the usual kind of cold that brushed against the skin and passed, but the kind that seemed to seep deep into the bones. Two nights had passed since Thompson issued the challenge.I hadn't slept much. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Clarissa's face. It was not her usual calm expression, but one filled with fear, confusion, and a silent plea I couldn't ignore. She was still missing, and the only way to get her back was to fight.Fight Thompson. The council had tried to reason with him, and even offered alternative paths, but Thompson stood his ground. He wanted the fight. Not just for control, not just for Clarissa, but to humiliate me and to strip me of everything I stood for.Tonight was the night.I stood at the edge of the training field, now converted into a ceremonial ground. Torches lined the border, casting flickering golden light agai

  • The Omega Queen   Chapter 49

Clarissa's POVThe days had begun to blur into each other, like ink bleeding through the pages of a diary too soaked in tears. I sat curled on the cold floor of the room that had been my prison for what felt like forever. It was silent most of the time, except for the distant murmurs of Thompson's guards changing shifts or the occasional clang of metal which served as reminders that I was not free.I couldn’t see the sun rise or fall, but I could feel the time passing in the aches of my muscles and the dull throb behind my eyes. My wolf was quiet again, but not gone. She was watching, listening, and breathing through me. She was waiting.I didn’t ask anymore why this had happened. I had come to accept that evil wore many faces, and not all of them snarled. Some smiled. It had been days since anyone kind spoke to me. Lyra, one of the maids who had secretly grown fond of me, hadn’t come around. The others were too afraid. But today, something was different. There was a shift in the air,

  • The Omega Queen   Chapter 48

Drey's POV The moment Elder Thompson's voice rang out, issuing his challenge before the council, the entire hall plunged into a silence so thick it was almost suffocating. My heartbeat thundered in my ears, steady and heavy like war drums. I looked at him; the man who had hidden behind respectability and wisdom for years, and saw something raw and ancient in his eyes. What I saw was not just ambition but defiance and hatred.Hatred for me, hatred for everything my father was, and hatred for everything I stood for now. Clarissa. His voice echoed again in my mind, that challenge seared into my thoughts like a brand: "You want the girl? Then fight me for her. Just like your father fought for his place."There were gasps in the chamber. Whispers flared into murmurs, rising like sparks in dry grass. The elders exchanged long glances. Some seemed stunned, others alarmed. But none of them spoke up immediately. And I... I just stood there; rooted, burning, and raging. But I was not surprised
