Drey's POV

I left the strategy room after addressing some of my officials on crucial matters, I was thinking about a past I could never change. The air felt heavier today. Not just with the approaching storm, but with the weight of everything that had happened; the betrayals, the lies, the people we had lost, and the woman I had let slip into darkness because of a twisted illusion.

Helen was being led out of the pack’s holding prison, her hands shackled with silver cuffs. Her face was pale, but her eyes held no remorse. Only fire, a fire that once might have ignited passion in me. Now, it only filled me with disgust.

The entire pack had gathered. They stood in clusters; warriors, omegas, elders, and even the young ones. They watched with silent tension. The Alpha was about to reject his mate.

And I… I was ready.

I took a deep breath as Helen was brought before me.

She looked straight into my eyes, daring me to falter. I took my eyes off her and began to address the pack.

  • The Omega Queen   Chapter 84

The next morning, after a light breakfast, I sat with Tessy at the Verandah. We were recounting events that had happened since I left. I became sad again when I remembered that Drey had left the pack because he was fighting a just cause. My chest tightened because it wasn't certain when I would see Drey again. I wondered if all the troubles I went through weren't in vain. Tessy noticed the worried look on my face and patted my back with her right hand.I knew she wasn't happy seeing me sad so she tried to lighten my mood. She asked me about my journey. I was hesitant at first but I decided to tell her.I drew in a deep breath. My voice shook a little as I began.“The journey was harder than I ever imagined. Each mountain was more than stone and snow. They were… tests. Some of them broke me down to the bone, Tessy. I thought I wouldn’t survive the second mountain, and yet there were still more ahead. But the last one…”I paused, my chest tightening at the memory. The custodian’s face f

The sun became intense as I kept walking. The sweat coming out of my body was like water from a fountain. As I approached the pack house, I heard some pack members at the clearing training. The moment they saw me, some greeted me happily and waved at me while the others seemed indifferent. All the while, I was looking out for Drey. I was looking forward to hearing his voice and I became tense when I couldn't even perceive his smell. As I got to the entrance, I heard light footsteps rushing toward me, quick and familiar. The air carried Tessy's scent before her voice did. It was like the scent of lavender soap.“Clarissa!” Tessy’s voice broke with disbelief, and then with joy.“Tessy?” My lips trembled as I spoke her name, and then her arms wrapped tight around me. She held me so close I almost forgot I couldn’t see her face. The warmth of her hug told me enough. She was real and safe.“You’re home,” she whispered into my hair, her voice trembling. “You really came back.”My throat clo

It felt good journeying back home.Home.That word sounded almost foreign to me now. Twenty one mountains had separated me from it. I had been through twenty-one trials, twenty-one wounds and twenty-one shocking revelations. Could I still return the same way I had left? Or had the journey already changed me beyond recognition?Jasmine’s wet nose nudged my palm, a reminder that I was not alone. My fingers sank into the thick fur at her neck, the warmth seeping into me like sunlight through a shutter.“All right, girl,” I whispered, my voice raspy from silence. “Let’s go home.”She wagged her tail, and I almost imagined she answered, “It's about time.”I thought about all that I had been through, how it had changed me and how it had given me another perspective about life , most especially the otherworld. The path downward was long, but it felt less like a descent and more like an unraveling. Every step loosened a knot I hadn’t realized I’d tied within myself. The frozen air slowly thin

The path from the twentieth mountain to the twenty-first felt like the longest road I had ever walked. My body was tired, aching from every trial I had faced. My spirit was heavier still, weighed down with the voices of the guardians, their demands, their tests and their truths. Yet I walked on, guided by Jasmine’s steady paws and the warmth of her presence at my side. Oh! How I enjoyed her company! The wind was sharp against my face, carrying with it the cold sting of the last trial. Even now, my arms remembered the chill of Syrenthia’s frozen embrace; the ice that had seeped deep into my skin when I held my sister’s statue. I could still feel the ache in my bones from keeping my tears inside. I had wanted to cry. I had wanted to scream. But I had endured, because breaking was not an option. Not when Thompson’s essence still waited for me, locked away beyond this final mountain. The ground shifted beneath my boots as we climbed, stones crunching, dirt giving way to gravel. I leaned

The climb from the nineteenth mountain had left my bones aching. I could still feel the weight of bone and dust clinging to my skin, echoes of Calgorr’s skeletal warriors in the silence that followed me. My hands bore small cuts from the blade I had fought with, and though Jasmine padded softly by my side, her paws were steady as always, even though she seemed quieter than usual, as if sensing that the next trial would test something deeper than my body.As we climbed, there was a change in the weather as the air grew colder. I had gotten used to strange shifts in weather; the thirteenth mountain had blistering heat, the sixteenth had storms that threatened to break the earth apart but this cold was different. It didn’t sting the skin. It seeped inward, creeping into the chest as if trying to freeze the heart itself before I even reached the summit.I tugged the scarf tighter around my neck, though I knew it wouldn’t help much. Jasmine pressed against my leg and gave a soft whine.“I

The days blurred together after I left the mountain of shadows. My body ached, but not in the way that broken bones or pulled muscles ache. It was deeper, buried in my chest and stitched into the seams of my thoughts. The whispers of Lethra still lingered in my ears, curling like smoke in the back of my skull, reminding me of the fragility of my own courage. Yet, step by step, I pressed forward, and Jasmine pressed with me.Her pawsteps padded gently against the uneven earth, steadying, guiding and grounding me. I clung to the soft leather of her harness as though it were the only real thing in the world. The air grew colder as we made our way, sharper, with the dry bite of stone dust.I could feel that this was no ordinary mountain. The climb toward the nineteenth felt heavy, as though the ground itself resisted us, as though something old and watchful stirred beneath its surface. The peaks around me whispered with the wind, but the silence that followed each gust felt unnatural. Jas
