Chapter 2

Author: Cocojam
My phone hadn't stopped vibrating since dawn.

Anonymous messages flooded in, each one making me want to vomit.

"The slut in the video is you, right?"

"So disgusting. An Omega who can't control herself in heat."

"Want another round? I can give you what you want."

My hands shook as I blocked number after number, but new messages kept pouring in.

Every werewolf in Silvercrest City was passing around my video.

The next day, I dragged my exhausted body to the academy.

My mother said she’d gotten me an extended leave of absence, but I had to handle the transfer paperwork for Valeriana myself.

The moment I stepped onto campus, whispers surrounded me.

"Look, that's her. The half-breed Omega who slept with the Alpha heir."

"I heard she can't even control her wolf during sex. Went half-feral."

"Disgusting. Filthy Omega."

"Stay back. Her tainted blood might be contagious."

Every word was a knife in my gut.

I kept my head down, walking quickly through the halls, feeling the weight of everyone's contempt.

Someone intentionally slammed their shoulder into mine. Someone else made a lewd gesture as I passed.

When I opened my locker, a foul stench hit me.

Someone had sprayed it with challenge musk—the scent used to mark an unclaimed female as 'free for the taking.' The vile scent made me gag on the spot.

"Cora?"

I turned to see a few of my former classmates pointing and sneering from a distance.

"I can't believe you're such a whore."

"Why would an Alpha like Liam even look at you? You must have thrown yourself at him."

I clenched my jaw, quickly gathered my files, and left.

The underground parking garage was quiet.

Just as I reached my car, a group of strange werewolves blocked my path.

Their scents were a chaotic mess. They were rogues, packless.

The leader held up his phone. My video was playing on the screen.

"That's you, isn't it?" he said, his disgusting eyes raking over my body. "You sure know how to scream."

I took a step back. "What do you want?"

"What do we want?" They all laughed. "Since you're so good at screaming, why don't you scream for us?"

"No!" I struggled as they grabbed me, but they were too strong.

They dragged me toward a dark corner of the garage, their hands tearing at my jacket.

Overwhelming terror washed over me.

Suddenly, I remembered something from years ago.

I was just a kid, being bullied by a few rogue wolves.

Draven had appeared, unleashing his Alpha command, and chased them off with a cold glare.

He’d tossed me a can of silver powder spray and pulled me into his car.

"You're so weak you can't even defend yourself?"

His tone was harsh, but in that moment, he felt like a real brother.

Ever since, I’d always kept a can of silver spray in my bag.

"Let me go!" I fumbled desperately in my bag.

My fingers finally closed around the small can.

The second they ripped my jacket open, I pulled it out and slammed the nozzle.

Silver dust sprayed into their faces. They screamed and staggered back.

But in the struggle, some of the powder sprayed back onto my arm.

The searing pain made me cry out.

Silver is poison to werewolves.

"Fuck! The bitch has silver!" the rogues cursed, clutching their burned faces.

"What do we do? She's hurt bad!"

"Call him! If she dies, we're all screwed!"

I curled up on the ground, smoke still rising from the wound on my arm.

My vision started to blur.

One of them made a call.

"It's a mess. She had silver powder. She's hurt really bad—"

A familiar voice came from the other end of the line.

Draven.

"Is it done?" His voice was terrifyingly cold.

"No, she—"

"Draven, are you insane?!" another voice cut in. "You actually hired rogues to humiliate her!"

Liam.

My heart seized.

Draven had sent them.

"I just hired some guys to teach her a lesson," Draven sneered. "If she got herself hurt, that's on her."

"If she’s not dead, dump her at some back-alley wolf clinic," he continued. "And make sure this doesn't trace back to me."

The call ended.

The rogues started panicking, arguing about what to do with me.

But I couldn't hear them anymore.

My heart felt like it was being crushed in a fist, the pain suffocating.

So… he really wanted to destroy me.

I suddenly remembered something I’d overheard him say once.

"Of course I know she didn't kill my mother. I just can't stand the sight of her, always acting so weak and pathetic."

"Father feels guilty about them. I don't."

Tears streamed from the corners of my eyes.

The silver poison spread through my veins, the agony ripping through my nerves.

Then, everything went black.

They both shook their heads."No," Draven choked out. "I was a fool. I used her to hurt you because I was too much of a coward to admit you were the only family I had left.""While I was searching for you, I learned the truth... My mother and father had already severed their mate bond long before your mother arrived. She didn't ruin anything."The irony was bitter. He was the one who used to tell me I wasn't worthy.Liam followed up quickly. "I was just blinded by jealousy. I thought if I acted that way, Draven would never know I had feelings for you. I never meant to hurt you. I'm so sorry."But it was all too late. Not all wounds can be forgiven. I would not forgive the people who had hurt me.I spelled it out for them, word by word."If you feel any guilt at all, then please, never disturb my life again. I don't want to see either of you, ever again."With that, I walked away without looking back. And true to my word, they never appeared again.A month later, I got a call from a law

"Her research into wolf-spirit gene sequencing is nothing short of revolutionary. It will change the very fabric of our society. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Dr. Cora Blackwood!"The conference hall at the Valeriana Global Werewolf Summit erupted in applause.I stood at the podium, looking out at the thousand-plus werewolf scholars and pack leaders from around the world.Three years. In three years, I had successfully isolated the gene responsible for uncontrolled shifting in Omegas and developed a sequence to enhance the power of the wolf spirit. The media called me "The Hope of the Omegas."But I preferred Dr. Blackwood."Thank you all," I said, smiling at the crowd. "This research is not just for Omegas. It has the potential to benefit all werewolves."After the conference, I walked out of the hall. The sun was setting, and the streets of Valeriana were bustling."Cora."A familiar voice made me stop.I turned and saw Draven and Liam. They looked like they had been waiting for a

They looked at each other, a strange sense of relief washing over them."Her suitcase is still here. She can't have gone far. Send people to find her, now.""I can't believe I thought she'd actually leave."Just then, Liam's phone rang."Liam, I found what you asked for about the video. I sent it to you, but—"Liam didn't listen, just hung up and opened the audio file. What he heard was Genevieve's venomous voice."Is it done? I'm coming back soon, and I won't let any she-wolf replace me in Liam's and Draven's hearts. I want her reputation destroyed.""Don't worry, it's done," another voice replied. "I spread the video everywhere and leaked her phone number. They already hated that Omega anyway. Why else would Liam film his own lover's private moments? They even arranged for rogues to humiliate her."Genevieve laughed. "Clean up the loose ends. Don't let them find out.""Got it. They hired the guys anyway, I just added a little fuel to the fire. After this is done, don't forget what yo

"What the hell do you mean, drove her away?""She wouldn't leave. She wouldn't dare."Their voices overlapped, sharp with a sudden, sickening panic.Genevieve froze, stunned by their reaction. When she didn't speak, Liam grew more agitated. He grabbed her hand, his grip crushing."Speak! What did you just say?"Genevieve cried out in pain, trying to pull away. "Liam, you're hurting me! Let go, and I'll tell you!"Liam finally realized he'd lost his composure and let her go."Sorry, Genevieve, I'm just… anxious. Why did you say we drove Cora away? What's going on?"Draven stood by, silent but his eyes were fixed on her, waiting for an explanation.Seeing how frantic they both were, a wave of jealousy washed over Genevieve. She knew that if she hadn't spent years badmouthing Cora, feeding their hatred of half-breeds, she would have lost her place in their hearts long ago.She would not let that happen. These two Alphas belonged to her.Suppressing her emotions, Genevieve explained softly

With a few careless words, he had decided the Moonstone's fate.A flicker of triumph crossed Genevieve’s eyes."That's right, I really like this stone. Name your price. I'll pay you whatever you want."But I just shook my head stubbornly. "I don't want money. I want my Moonstone."Draven stared at me coldly. "Give you an inch and you think you're a ruler? Take it or get out."Genevieve grabbed his arm, her voice soft and soothing. "Draven, don't be angry. I'll talk to her."She walked over and leaned in, whispering in my ear."Don't think that just because I was gone you could play pretend with Draven and seduce Liam into being your lover to replace me. In their hearts, I will always be the most important one.""You want the Moonstone? Fine. Kneel before me. Show me the submission your kind is so good at, and I’ll consider giving it back."My heart seized. The stone held the healing energy of my ancestors. I woke up to a world of white. The smell of antiseptic filled my nose. I was in the Blackwood Pack's private medical wing."You're awake."Liam was sitting by my bed, his eyes filled with a guilt I'd never seen before.I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my arm.The silver burn was tightly wrapped in white bandages."Don't move," he said softly. "The silver poisoning isn't completely gone."I just looked at him, saying nothing."Cora, I have to explain about the video," he said, taking my uninjured hand. "I filmed it because I wanted to find a genetic specialist to help you."I blinked."You went half-feral the first time we were together. That's not normal. I was worried there was something wrong with your genes."His voice was quiet. "I didn't tell you. I was trying to protect your pride."Lies."But my phone was hacked by a rival pack," he continued. "That's how the video leaked. I've already erased every copy. I promise, no one will ever—"His phone rang.Liam glanced
