Blood on My Hands

Eris pov

The moment the execution ended, something inside me broke. I was a total mess.

I didn’t stay long enough to hear the crowd disperse or the gossip. I moved before anyone could notice the way my hands were shaking, before my face betrayed me. My hood was pulled low, my scent crushed down so hard it burned my chest. I walked. Then I ran.

By the time I reached Rose’s house, my lungs were on fire.

I slammed the door shut behind me and twisted the lock so hard the wood groaned. The silence inside the small room was unbearable. It pressed on my ears, louder than the bell that had summoned the pack to watch a man die for my own cause.

I ripped the cloak from my shoulders and threw it across the room.

“Damn it!” I roared.

The table nearest to me took the first blow. I flipped it with one hand, watching it crash into the wall, cups shattering, water splashing across the floor like spilled blood. I didn’t stop. A chair followed. Then another.

“Thomas!” I shout

Eris POV I walked inside and immediately shut down the door. I didn't want any guards or maids passing to see me. I have come too far to fail. I stood by the kids cradle, watching the kids sleep soundly. I was there when they gave birth to them, I was there when they started crawling. Looking at the kids I nurtured, kids that used to sleep on my chest now far from me. Break my heart. Just as I touched one of the baby’s cheeks, she stirred awake. “Who’s that?” a voice behind me questioned. I gently brought out my dagger, hiding it behind my back and slowly I turned. She widened her eyes when she didn't recognize my face. And opened her mouth to scream but I rushed and closed her mouth. “Do not scream,” I whispered. Her eyes flew open instantly. The nanny’s body stiffened beneath my grip as my hand clamped over her mouth, dragging her upright before a sound could escape. Her breath hit my palm in frantic bursts, her eyes wide and wet with terror as she stared at me. “Please,” sh

  • The Omega’s Rise   Chapter 92

Eris pov “Keep your head down,” I whispered to myself as I slipped between two storage buildings, my boots barely brushing the gravel. “You are late,” another voice murmured inside my head. “I am right on time,” I answered under my breath. About five servants rounded the corner ahead, laughing softly. “Did you hear?” one said. “Alpha Malcolm doubled the night patrol again.” “He’s having doubts,” the other replied. “Especially after Silverblood.” “Good,” the first said. “We don't want what happened there to happen here.” I pressed my back to the wall, breathing slowly, and waited for them to pass. My shoulder brushed the cold stone. It hurts but I wouldn't dare respond to the pain. But I took a deep breath trying to suppress it which almost sold me out. “Who is there?” a guard’s voice called from the corner. “Probably nothing,” another answered. “The wind keeps playing tricks.” “Shine the lantern,” the first insisted. “Something might still be out there.” Light swept the gro

  • The Omega’s Rise   Chapter 91

The Road to Lumen Eris’s Pov I looked at the tattered map of Lumen park. I needed to know every corner of the park. This is my chance and I need to be careful. I gripped it as if it were the last lung in a vacuum. Studying how to enter without being noticed. "You really think you'll get past the Borderlands?" a voice rasped from my back. I turned without stopping to walk. "You underestimated me, Kael. Just watch and see." Kael walked in front, his mechanical eye was whirring as it focused on my lean hard face. "The Scavenger Alpha has scouts every three miles. They don't like trespassers, especially ones with eyes that look like yours. They see blood when they look at you." "Then they should look away," I replied, checking the pulse-blade strapped to my forearm. "I have a schedule to keep." "Malcolm will kill you before you even see the gates," Kael warned, spitting a glob of black oil onto the dry earth. I paused, crunching my boots on glass. "Malcolm is the reason I’m still b

  • The Omega’s Rise   Chapter 90

Eris POV “This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.” I hit my hand on the tree trunk. “It was an opportunity to have.” My voice echoed harshly against the quiet woods. I dragged a hand down my face and laughed under my breath, it sounded bitter and painful. Davina falls for it…just as I was making a move, stupid Malcolm came. How I hated him. I just can't wait to end his arrogant life. “Arhh!” I screamed. I paced slowly, thinking wildly. They couldn't go free. “There must be another way,” I muttered. “There is always another way.” I slowly stopped, halted as a thought slid into my mind. It didn't look like a perfect plan but it is something I can do. Malcolm and Davina were both here. Which meant…My lips parted and my eyes lit up. “The children,” I whispered. I laughed, the sound rolled out of my mouth before I could stop it. “Of course.” If Malcolm and Davina were in the Silver Blood pack, and their children were not with them. They would never bring their heirs into a brewin

The Scent That Shouldn’t Exist Davina POV “Eris,” I mumbled again, the name slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it. I stood in the middle of the clearing, the heat from the dying fire still covering the air, with ash floating down like dark snow. Warriors shouted orders in the distance. Buckets slammed against the ground. Someone cursed loudly as smoke clung stubbornly to the trees. “Put that side out!” Alpha Thomas’s voice rang through the chaos. “Check the western homes!” Malcolm barked. “No one separates. Move in pairs!” Their voices were strong, and loud. My chest felt tight and my breathing felt wrong. “Luna?” a female warrior called out. “Are you hurt? Why are you here all by yourself? Is everything okay?” “I’m fine,” I answered automatically, though my voice trembled. “I just… need air.” I stepped away before anyone could question me. Before Malcolm could turn around and really look at my face. Because my expression could tell that something was wrong. Someth

  • The Omega’s Rise   Chapter 88

Smoke Without Fire Eris POV I did not light the fire to kill anyone. Although I wouldn't mind if it really kills them…burning them all. That would make my work easier. But I didn't want Thomas, Malcolm, or Davina to die easily. I lit it to remind them. That day was already restless when I moved. The wind carried the scent of dry wood and oil exactly the way I had wanted. I stayed low, wrapped myself in black, crushing my Alpha aura deep inside me until I felt almost hollow. It was uncomfortable, like choking on my own power, but necessary. No pain no gain right? I poured the oil to four houses close to the arena but it was not inside, but close enough to get them noticed and in disarray. They would feel my presence. “I had kept mute for too long and it wasn't in my nature to cower,” I murmured to myself. “I’ll create chaos.” The torch touched the ground and immediately fire erupted. At first, it started low, burning in line. Then the flames climbed greedily, licking the sides
