~ A M E L I A ~

The diner was surprisingly empty, considering it was a Sunday afternoon and was the perfect place for people my age to hang out. It had become a routine for me and my friends to always come to the diner on one day of the weekend to spend time together. Since final exams and assignment deadlines were creeping up, students were panicking to finish everything and focus on studying.

Luckily, our hangout session at the diner was being doubled up as a study session, too. So I could cram in more information before I would go home and do more research into the curse or my birth parents. Unless Everett decided to text me offering his help and… other things.

Surprisingly, I felt pretty calm about everything. My assignments were either complete or up-to-date enough that they would be completed soon enough. I’d make sure to study plenty by myself, mainly because when I studied with my friends recently, they spent half of the time questioning my new, weird and distant behaviour.

~ A M E L I A ~My body stilled. The world around me became so silent that I could hear a sharp ringing in my ears. I wanted the ground below me to swallow me up whole and take me far, far away from what was about to fire up. My eyes felt dry from my lack of blinking. I think I’d forgotten how to move or breathe or… anything. He did not say that.He did not just fucking say that. Yet, he had. Everett said the exact words to ruin everything, and I had no idea how to play it off as a joke or something else. I was screwed. ‘What the hell did you just say?’ Husdon snarled. Everett smirked so cruelly, ‘Do you really want me to repeat myself?’Instead of invoking rage, which was exactly what Everett was trying to fire in him, Hudson forced a laugh, ‘Yeah, right. As if Amelia would ever have sex with you, right Amelia?’ He looked at me, waiting for my answer, but I said nothing, still in shock from it all. The smile he had forced on his face slowly faded from my speechlessness. One of

  • The One True Alpha   Chapter 99 ~ Indifferent

~ A M E L I A ~The following day was colder than usual, not that it bothered us werewolves, but it was the perfect excuse to have the hood of my hoodie up to conceal my face, mainly the remnants of my red and tear-stained eyes. I couldn’t recall when I stopped crying last night; all I knew was that it was so late that I just passed out on my bed from exhaustion. All I managed to do was shower and make myself somewhat presentable for the day. If not for my rapid werewolf healing, I probably would look a lot worse. A strong stroke of nausea hit me as I turned the corner and plodded towards my locker, where I once loved the location. It was the same location where my friend’s lockers were, allowing us that much more time to hang out and chat in between classes, but now I hated it because it meant I would have to encounter them once again. Another encounter which likely wouldn’t be pretty. Yet, some foolish feeling inside me still had hope. I hoped that they would give me a chance to

~ A M E L I A ~It was only the middle of the week, and I could already confirm that it sucked entirely. With the full moon only two days away and all our emotions being heightened, my friend’s annoyance and hatred towards me were heightened, just as my gloominess and guilt were, too.I had made my way home immediately after school. I didn’t even bother trying with my friends; if they want distance, then that is exactly what I’ll give them. There were more important things I needed to worry about. A light knock on my door disrupted my attention from reading over one of the journals Everett had given me. Immediately, I knew it was him. I could smell him approaching my home, ‘Doors open,’ I called. Opening the door and striding inside, ‘You know, you shouldn’t leave your door unlocked for anyone to enter,’ Everett locked the door behind him and slid his jacket off, already making himself at home, ‘What if someone knew you did that and barged right in?’ ‘I guess they’ll take me away a

~ A M E L I A ~‘Maybe… Maybe the former Alpha wanted privacy for his family after the loss of his heir,’ he breathed, stroking my cheek with his thumb, trying to soothe me. Furrowing my brows and frowning, ‘What I don’t understand is how none of the older generations have slipped out the name of the Alpha before your father.’ Everett hummed, ‘I think I have an answer for that.’ I blinked again and again, gripping the bottom of his T-shirt as I waited for him to continue. Everett sighed, ‘My father is loyal but also bitter. If he and the former Alpha were as close as I think they were, maybe my father was so distraught when they died that he commanded the pack, or those who knew the former Alpha, to not ever speak his name again.’‘And if he used the Alpha’s Roar,’ my shoulders dropped, ‘then they would have to obey no matter what.’Resting his forehead against mine, Everett shut his eyes and spoke in a feathered, hushed tone, ‘I could speak to him,’ his hand moving to the back of m

~ A M E L I A ~Grey clouds were scattered across the sky; they had been all day, and as the day went on, they appeared to become darker and darker, almost like smoke. A chill in the air brushed against my skin, though it didn’t physically bother me, and my growing endurance to strong weathering conditions didn’t prevent me from being able to feel the changes around me. I could feel a strong pang in my chest throbbing and a humming sensation tickling in my throat, almost like I had a desire to scream or cry out loud for no apparent reason that I could think of.The ritual of school ending early on the day of the full moon became second nature to me—hand in all necessary work to teachers before midday, and then you’re free to do whatever you please until the evening’s event. Even though everyone knew those over 18 wouldn’t shift, the entire pack still had hope. I wished I still had hope, but things were too bleak. I truly couldn’t see there being any progress for the pack. Everett and

~ A M E L I A ~On my way home, I realised I had quite a few things I needed to pick up from various stores. Worried that I would forget about the items I needed until that one moment when I needed them, I decided to pop into the stores, and then I would head home. It may have taken me longer than I intended to, but after a couple of hours, I managed to pick up all the items I needed and a snack to keep me satisfied until dinner. I hadn’t realised how late it had gotten; the sky was covered in a blanket of grey clouds, but the brightness of the full moon was peeking through. It was high in the sky but not alarmingly high, not yet. Pulling my umbrella out of my bag to shelter myself from the drizzle, however, within seconds, it was like the skies had opened up the heavens. The gentle rain became almost like a hurricane only after I took a few steps forward. Buckets and buckets of rain poured down, drenching everything around me. All the more reason to get home. I thought to myself

One final step closer, and he was towering over me. We both were still soaked from head to toe. Everett’s hair was almost fully shielding his eyes as the water dripped down his flawless complexion. His eyes, silver and radiant like the moon itself, were powerful enough to still be seen through the darkness of his locks.Biting down on my lip, I almost forgot to breathe as Everett closed the gap between us and cupped my face in his hands. ‘I should go…’ he cooed as he scanned my face slowly like he was trying to memor

~ A M E L I A ~My body felt sore yet alive at the same time. Last night was the wildest night I had ever experienced. We were like animals—well, I suppose for the first time, I felt the animalistic side of me. Barely taking a break for a minute before we desperately needed each other’s touch again. I think we ended up having sex in almost every room and every inch of this house, everywhere, but still not in a bed. It was—The smell of something delicious cooking downstairs caught my attention. Forcing my eyes open, I stretched and leaned forward to sit up, cracking my neck as I scanned my surroundings. My bedroom, when did I end up here? The last thing I remembered was Everett and I on the sofa, talking into the early hours of the morning. I think the moon had set, and we were still up talking about anything and everything. It got to the point that I didn’t even care what we were talking about, I just wanted to hear his voice and have him close, feeling his warmth. How I went from d

They all instantly fell silent as they laid eyes on me, uttering different words and bowing to me. ‘Hello,’ I smiled at the girl I desired to speak to, ‘you’re Suki, right?’Wide-eyed, Suki struggled to speak at first until the man next to her nudged her arm gently, ‘Y-Yes!’ She bowed, ‘It’s a pleasure to meet you, Alpha Amaris.’ Coming to a stand, and gesturing towards the man and spoke speedily, ‘This is my father, Machiavelli Twyla, Beta wolf of the Moonstone pack.’He bowed his head, ‘A pleasure to meet you, Alpha Amaris.’I tittered, ‘I’m still not used to that.’ Looking down at her drink, I noticed it was empty. ‘Come, let’s get you a refill. I could do with a drink myself.’ I looped my arm with hers and guided her towards the bar. She exhaled and whispered, ‘Thank you, it was almost suffocating being there,’ she picked up another flute of champagne and sipped it. I watched her, almost feeling c

Everett traced his lips against my cheek, planting a kiss as he moved closer towards my neck once again. My breathing stuttered with every move of his. He planted another kiss on my neck before gently dragging his teeth against my flesh, taunting me and making me crave him more.‘Ev… stop… teasing,’ I said, struggling to breathe as I spoke. He chuckled against my skin, ‘I can’t help it, darling, it’s just too much fun.’ He sighed and lifted himself to meet my gaze again, ‘I promise you, I will mark you, but just not today. Today is your Ascension Ceremony; it’s an important and memorable day for you. Completing our bond should be a separate thing, what do you think?’I smiled, intertwining my fingers behind his neck, ‘I think that is a great idea.’ Ev looked pleased and pecked my lips. ‘Besides,’ I added, ‘you probably should meet my adoptive parents before we complete

  • The One True Alpha   Epilogue (Part 1/3)

~ A M E L I A ~With the curse finally being lifted, the people of the Silver Moon pack celebrated for three days straight, immediately after the Battle for Alpha ended, and I was deemed the new leader, the youngest Alpha leader ever in the entire history of the pack, claiming that title from my birth father. I thought and hoped he would’ve been proud that it was me who took that title. Truthfully, I’d expected more backlash for my rise from being essentially rankless to then becoming Alpha, but it seemed that the people of Silver Moon had the utmost respect for my birth parents, as well as gaining respect for me for saving them from the dreaded 18-year curse. The people of the pack were able to enjoy the freedom of having their powers back. I, however, had no chance to embrace my powers or even try shifting yet. There was too much to do, and I had no time to rest, not yet.Moving arrangements for one—I was now the Alpha, and moving back home with my adoptive parents was no longer a

~ A M E L I A ~I looked at the guards, ‘Please ensure Draven doesn’t try anything stupid.’With that, I sped through the forest, not realising how tame my wolf speed was before gaining access to my full power. It was a level I could not even fathom to explain. Magical? Fantastic? Out of this world? Yes, all of the above. My nose locked in on her scent swiftly, it was as if I could physically see her just through her scent. She was running back towards the pack, but she wasn’t going to make it. All of my senses were locked on her. I could smell the fear in her sweat and hear the panic in her panting breath. I slowed my pace and moved around enough to make her struggle to decipher where exactly I was coming from, only making her panic more as I moved in closer, finally being able to see her with my eyes. She came to a halt suddenly, frantically searching around, and when she went to move off again, I was there, standing right in front of her. ‘Going somewhere, Yurena?’ I stepped fo

~ A M E L I A ~ His voice was as clear as day in my mind, yet part of me felt like it was all a dream. Yet it wasn’t a dream. It was real, but it was about to turn into a nightmare when my attention was brought to Draven and the dagger in his hand as he pulled back, ready to plunge it into his son’s heart. With more speed than I had ever been able to harness before, I flashed towards them, leaping onto Draven’s back and swinging myself to the side to throw him off and send him skidding away. ‘Everett, Everett!’ I said in a panic, dragging my hands across his chest to check for any wounds. He groaned as he sat up, ‘I’m okay, I’m okay… just weak from the wolfsbane.’ He placed his hand over the stab wound in his stomach to stop it from bleeding, and with his free hand, he placed it on my cheek, looking deep into my eyes, ‘Amelia.’ With tear-stained eyes, I smiled and placed my hand on top of his, ‘Everett.’‘How dare you!’ Draven hissed as he came to a stand and walked slowly back t

  • The One True Alpha   Chapter 132 ~ The Battle for Alpha (Part 4/4)

~ A M E L I A ~‘No!’ I groaned and shoved my heels in the dirt before I hauled myself down towards the ground, using his weight to bring him down too. As he was above me, I used my legs to throw him to my side before bolting away from the cliff. By this point, I had used too much of my wolf speed and was struggling to lock into it fully. I needed full access to my wolf side. Draven sped after me, though he was also worn out; he still had full access to his power, which gave him that advantage. He hurtled himself at me, tackling me to stumble and fall into the bushes. A twist and crack of my ankle made me wail out in pain. I couldn’t see my friends, but I knew they were on edge watching the scene before them. Hudson and Everett both were likely fighting every urge within them not to get involved. They knew if they did, the challenge would become void, and I would lose instantly. They believed in me enough to fight this on my own. I’ve got this. I can do this!Pinning me down, Drav

  • The One True Alpha   Chapter 132 ~ The Battle for Alpha (Part 3/4)

~ A M E L I A ~Within those first few seconds, I knew that his fighting tactics differed from Everett’s—where he would wait for his opponent to come for him to then take them down, Draven was a head-on type of fighter. That only made him more unpredictable for me and lowered any advantage I could have even more. Focus. My mind hissed. Locking in on the situation before me, I stood still and waited for the right moment. Draven clenched his hands into fists. Watching closely, I spotted his right hand draw back ever so slightly. That was my mark. I waited for him to get closer and closer, to make a move. As he pushed with his left foot and lunged closer as he drew his right fist back, it was time for me to dodge and counter. I leant back as his fist moved for my face, grabbing his wrist and arm, pushing his punch away from me to miss my head. Using that momentum, I twirled around and skidded back, dropping to my hands and knees. Not having time to think things further, I pushed fo

~ A M E L I A ~All my friends tried to keep me busy and distracted during the day. We played board games, watched movies, and even had a picnic in the forest. However, I was struggling to eat and ended up watching the sun move in the sky, teasing me with what was to come. There was no more avoiding the inevitable.‘I’ll be right back,’ I said quietly, pushing myself to my feet and making my way back into my cottage. I’d become so comfortable with this home, and the chances were, win or lose, I’d not be returning to this home.I poured myself a cold glass of water and took a couple of sips before tipping the rest down the sink. Resting my hands on the kitchen counter, I tried to hash out a strategy to help me with the upcoming battle, but everything I thought of always resulted in the same thing: me losing.Draven was an Alpha werewolf, and before then, he was a powerful Beta. He had always been strong, and though I had strength, they were too limited. There was no hope.‘Hey,’ Sammy

~ A M E L I A ~To nobody’s surprise, I couldn’t sleep at all.It got to the point where I had to start pretending that I was sleeping just to stop everyone from shouting at me to rest in preparation for the battle, so I could gather my strength. We had all stuck together in the living room, moving the coffee table and the sofas to allow more space for us all to sleep on the floor. The guys brought the mattress from my bedroom and the guest bedroom to lie on the ground so they all had something comfortable to sleep on. Gabriel and Kaylee were on one mattress, while Sammy and Theo were on the other—they all had fallen asleep not long after I pretended to. I was lying on one of the sofas. Peeling my eyes open slowly, I noticed the other sofa was still vacant, and two people were not in my line of sight. I searched the room carefully to see where they had gone off, too, trying not to get caught for being awake. Both Everett and Hudson were standing by the back door, looking out to the
