Serena read the first line over and over again.

“If you are reading this, then the time has finally come for you to learn who you really are.”

Her fingers tightened around the letter.

Who had written it? How did they know her?

And what did they mean by who she really was?

She searched the page again. There were no other words…just that single sentence.

It should have been impossible.

Yet those few words unsettled her more than everything that had happened at the banquet.

She barely slept.

Whenever she closed her eyes, she saw Damien placing a kiss on Elena’s hand. Kieran smiling at Rosaline. Lucien standing beside Selene.

Then the sentence from the letter echoed through her mind, morning arrived, but it brought no answers.

She forced herself through another day at the bakery. Smiling when customers expected it. Speaking only when necessary.

The village buzzed with excitement over the upcoming weddings of the three Alpha heirs. Everywhere she turned, people talked about decorations, gowns, and celebrations.

Serena felt like she was walking through someone else’s life.

By the time she returned home that evening, exhaustion weighed heavily on her shoulders.

As she stepped onto her porch, something caught her eye.

An envelope rested against the front door.

She froze.

It had not been there that morning.

Slowly, she bent down and picked it up. The handwriting… It was the same.

Her heartbeat quickened. She hurried inside, locked the door behind her, and broke the seal.

Inside was another letter.

“Serena,

I know you have questions. About your past. About your family. About who you truly are.

I cannot explain everything in a letter. But I can tell you this… your mother loved you. She never abandoned you, she had no choice.

If you truly want the answers, meet me at Moonfall Cliff tomorrow at dusk.

Come alone, trust no one.”

Serena read the letter again and again. Her mother, someone was claiming she had a mother who loved her. Someone was claiming everything she had believed for twenty years was a lie.

Every instinct told her to throw the letter into the fire. To forget it, to pretend she had never seen it.

But one sentence refused to leave her mind.

Your mother loved you.

She lay awake that night staring at the ceiling.

If the letter was a trap… she could die but If it was real…it could change everything.

By dawn…she had made her decision. She was going.

The following evening, Serena waited until the village had grown quiet before slipping out of her cottage.

The path to Moonfall Cliff twisted through the forest, lit only by the fading light of sunset. The wind grew stronger the closer she came to the cliffs, her heart pounded with every step.

Finally, the trees opened. Moonfall Cliff stretched before her, a lone figure stood near the edge. Wrapped in a dark cloak that billowed in the wind.

He slowly turned as she approached. For reasons she could not explain, something about his face made her tense.

“You came,” he said quietly. His voice was deep and rough, as though he had spent years speaking to no one.

Serena stopped several feet away. “Who are you?” she asked. “Why have you been sending me these letters?”

The man maintained eye contact. “My name is Marcus.” He paused. “And I made a promise to your mother.”

Serena gasped. “My… mother?”

Marcus nodded. “She asked me to protect you. She made me swear that when the time was right, I would tell you the truth.”

Serena’s whole body stiffened. “What truth?”

Marcus looked at her with an expression that was almost sorrowful. “You were never abandoned, Serena…“you were hidden.”

The world seemed to stop. “What are you talking about?”

Before Marcus could answer, a sharp crack echoed through the trees, then another.

Marcus’s head snapped toward the forest. His expression hardened. “They found us.”

Dark figures emerged from between the trees. One, then five…then ten. Within seconds they surrounded the clearing. Each wore a black mask.

One of them stepped forward, his eyes fixed firmly on Serena.“So it’s true,” he murmured.

Another laughed. “The lost heir is alive.”

Serena’s heart nearly stopped.

Lost heir?

Marcus immediately stepped in front of her. His voice became cold. “Run!!!”

“I don’t understand!” Serena cried. “You don’t have to.”

More masked figures appeared from the darkness. Marcus never looked away from them. “Run, Serena!”

She hesitated only for a heartbeat then she turned and ran. Branches whipped across her face, thorns tore at her dress, roots caught at her feet as she stumbled through the forest.

Behind her, steel clashed. Men shouted. The sounds of battle echoed through the night, she did not dare look back…not once.

She ran until her chest ached and every breath felt like fire. Only then did she collapse against the trunk of an ancient tree.

Her entire body trembled. The masked men had called her…the lost heir. Marcus had claimed he had promised her mother.

She had not been abandoned, she had been hidden.

Serena pressed a trembling hand against her chest.

If all of that was true… Then who had she been all her life?

  • The Orphan Luna   Chapter six

Back at the Alpha Manor, two days had passed since the banquet. The celebrations were over, but the pack was still talking about the future weddings of the three Alpha heirs. Everywhere Damien went, someone congratulated him. Everywhere Kieran went, someone asked about wedding plans. Everywhere Lucien went, people spoke of how fortunate they were to have found their fated mates. Yet none of it felt the way they had imagined.Damien sat in his office, staring at a report spread across his desk. He had been reading the same page for several minutes. Not a single word had stayed in his mind. A knock came at the door.“Come in.”Kieran walked inside. He dropped into the chair opposite Damien and let out a long sigh. “You’ve been avoiding everyone.”Damien looked up. “I’ve been busy.”Kieran glanced at the untouched papers on the desk. “Have you?”Damien looked down and gave a small, tired smile. “I’ve been trying.”Another knock interrupted them. Lucien stepped into the office. He greete

  • The Orphan Luna   Chapter five

Serena had no idea how long she wandered through the forest. Time had become meaningless. There was only the crunch of leaves beneath her feet, the whisper of wind through the trees, and the pounding of her heart. She was lost. Completely and utterly lost. The forest stretched in every direction, dense and unfamiliar. She had grown up in Blackwood, but she had never ventured this far from the village. The trees here were older. Taller. Their branches twisted together overhead, blocking out the moonlight. Serena hugged her arms and kept walking. She had nowhere else to go. Somewhere behind her, the danger she had escaped might still be waiting. She had no way of knowing what had happened after she ran. No way of knowing who she could trust anymore. All she knew was that she could not go back. The forest grew thicker. The underbrush scratched at her legs which made her feet ache. Her throat was dry. She was about to collapse when she saw something ahead. A clearing. Th

The letter lay on her nightstand, untouched. Every time she reached for it, fear stopped her. The handwriting was elegant but unfamiliar. Looping letters she had never seen before. No return address. No indication of who had left it. Part of her wanted to tear it apart without reading a single word. But another part, the part that still held onto hope even after everything, could not let go.Morning came far too soon. Serena had not realized she had fallen asleep until the pale gray light crept through her curtains. Her body ached. Her eyes were swollen. Her head pounded with a dull, persistent throb. She sat up and looked around the room. And it was then that she truly saw everything. The gifts were everywhere. On her dresser,on her shelves and the small table by the window. Damien had given her a music box that still played the melody he once said reminded him of her, Kieran’s leather journal sat beside it. Lucien’s carved wooden wolf rested on the shelf.Serena stared at thes

  • The Orphan Luna   Chapter two

Serena did not know how long she stood outside the manor doors. The cold night air bit at her bare arms, but she barely felt it, her body numb, her mind numb, everything inside her gone quiet like the world had suddenly been muffled. Behind her, through the heavy oak doors, she could still hear the music, the laughter, the clinking of glasses. They were celebrating inside, toasting to fate, toasting to the three perfect couples, and she was out here, alone, forgotten. She forced her legs to move. The path from Alpha Manor wound through the heart of the pack village. Serena kept her head down, her arms wrapped around herself, praying that no one would see her, that no one would notice the girl in the pale blue dress stumbling home with tears on her face. But they noticed.A group of women stood outside the village tavern, their voices carrying easily through the quiet night. Serena tried to hurry past, but their words followed her. Did you see her face? One of them laughed. She actu

  • The Orphan Luna   Chapter one

Serena had been counting down the days for three years. Not out loud, but every morning when she opened her eyes the same thought greeted her. One day closer to turning twenty, one day closer to finally belonging. And now that day had arrived. She stood before the small mirror inside her cottage smoothing the pale blue dress Mrs. Willow had helped her sew. It was not expensive. Nothing Serena owned ever was. But the fabric hugged her figure perfectly and for the first time in years she thought she looked beautiful.Tonight she would not be the wolfless orphan everyone ignored. Tonight she would become their Luna. Her fingers drifted to the silver necklace resting against her throat. Damien had given it to her on her seventeenth birthday. She still remembered the way his hands had trembled as he fastened the clasp behind her neck after the first night they had shared together.“You are mine,” he had whispered against her skin. “Not just tonight, always. When you turn twenty I
