LOGINChapter 6
NAOMI tried to brush Marcus Ledesma out of her mind. She had arranged for her dad to pick her up early from the wedding reception, even skipping the food. She was so bothered by that man, and to avoid him, she chose to leave. She told her father to come get her because she was feeling unwell, and the team couldn’t leave. Even though the place was far, her father arrived. She only ate when she got home and went straight to sleep. And thank God, she was able to sleep despite Marcus being in her thoughts. Now she was at the office with Ileana. She was waiting for the payment from the superstar. They hadn’t received any down payment yet, but they trusted that he would pay since he was extremely wealthy. They had just sent the breakdown of services and the computation. The figures weren’t bad. Their earnings were substantial. The door slid open after a warning knock. She didn’t bother to peek at who entered. Most likely, it was a colleague who had brought Ileana along to buy their favorite fish balls outside. “Please lock the door,” she said, continuing to chat with the client. “Yes, ma’am.” She stopped typing. Her heart skipped a beat. Could it be that her eyes were deceiving her? Even her ears now? Why did Elaine’s voice sound masculine—and just like Marcus’s? She was afraid to look up until she noticed a person standing in front of her desk. Naomi’s eyes moved. She completely stopped typing, and what she saw was a zipper on pants, a bulge. She froze again. Had Elaine had a transplant that left a lump in front? Last she remembered, Elaine wasn’t a tomboy. Elaine was 100 percent a lady. Then, a beautiful hand landed on her desk. Its long, fair fingers pinched the check that had been placed there. “Hi.” She looked up and almost fell from her seat when she recognized the person standing and smiling before her. It was Marcus. “Payment for the service, ma’am,” he said. She glanced at the office CCTV monitor. She saw his countless bodyguards. Judging by his life and her ex’s, the distance between the two was massive. He could never be Marco. Naomi forced a smile. “Thank you, Sir.” She took the check. It was more than what they had discussed, but she expected that. It was a tip from Mister del Heirro. She put it in the drawer, but suddenly froze. What if Elaine walked in with Ileana? Marcus couldn’t meet the two. And why not? It wasn’t obvious that the two were father and daughter. There were plenty of men in the world. Plus, there was no certainty that he was the Marco who had deceived her—but the problem was Ileana had a photo of Marco. Her daughter knew her father’s face very well, so how would she explain? That everyone has a lookalike? And who was she deceiving? There was only one face that belonged to a particular person in this world. Sure, some might resemble each other, but not like this—as if split in half. She blinked at Marcus’s intense gaze, his eyes seemingly smiling. “You left early that night.” “Ah, yes, Sir. M-my daughter was waiting for me.” “You have a child?” His question sounded surprised. “Y-Yes.” She hoped he would leave. She had a feeling he was following her, and she didn’t like it. Maybe if she mentioned her child, he would leave. “Wife?” “H-Huh?” Naomi’s question was dumbfounded. What kind of question was that from Marcus? Could a woman with no husband have a child? And who—or what—would get her pregnant? A mango tree? Marcus left the building and encountered a woman and a child. He hadn’t gotten answers to his questions from the woman inside. He even asked Zent for her work address because he had a strange feeling, as if she were a part of his life. And in which area? He wasn’t suffering from amnesia, so he should remember if they truly knew each other. He was damn healthy. The woman smiled at him while the child licked her ice cream. He smiled at the sight of the beautiful little girl. “Good morning, Sir,” the woman greeted, “Have you spoken to anyone inside?” “Oh, yes. The—beautiful lady.” “Oh,” the woman’s eyes sparkled. “Your mother, Eana,” she said to the child. The girl nodded and smiled at him. “My mom is really beautiful—” He chuckled. So, this was the woman’s child—but the girl froze, as if seeing a ghost. “Daddy?” she said, startling him—and the woman too. “Oh, I’m sorry, Sir. Maybe Eana missed her father, so she called you Daddy even though it’s you. I-I apologize,” the woman stammered, forcing the child back into the building. He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t move. That word, “Daddy,” kept lingering in his mind. He felt paralyzed because of being called that. He stood stunned on the concrete sidewalk, watching the child leave, until he looked back at the building’s door where she had entered.Chapter 6Zent’s eyes followed Solana as she stepped out of the house wearing her uniform. He was leaning against his car, casually scrolling on his smartphone. The sunlight reflected slightly on his face, highlighting the small nose piercing that made him look bold and attractive. The earrings on his ears suited his sharp features. He wore a black hat that added to his confident style. With slow movements, he opened the door of the limousine, acting as if he had no urgency in the world.“Be careful, Solana,” Lazaro said as he walked out behind her.“Yes, Grandpa. Please do not worry.”She smiled at him and moved toward the car. She entered without looking at Zent. She did not want to give him the satisfaction of seeing her reaction. The night before, he had slept on the sofa. He had always been against her education. He believed she would depend on him forever. He probably wanted her to remain silent and simple. But Lazaro supported her dream of continuing her studies, and Zent could
Chapter 5Solana kept talking while leaning against the hospital bed’s headboard. Her mother sat beside her, still wearing house clothes and carrying the smell of fried garlic. Worry was written all over Nita’s face as they both listened carefully to the doctor.“Thank you, Dr. Rojas,” Lazaro said politely to the doctor, who was also Solana’s obstetrician.“You’re welcome, Señor Lazaro,” Dr. Rojas replied. “Zent must be extra loving and caring because his wife’s pregnancy is quite delicate. I don’t see any serious problem aside from her blood pressure dropping. Vitamins should help with that. Some pregnancies are much more difficult and require complete bed rest. Just don’t hesitate to bring her to the hospital if necessary.”“Yes, Doctor. Zent will take care of it,” Lazaro answered with confidence. “Thank you.”Lazaro gave Zent a look, and the younger man immediately understood. The two of them escorted the doctor outside the room.As soon as they were gone, Nita turned to her daught
Solana suddenly screamed, “Hey, you fat horse!” when someone from beside the plants suddenly grabbed her arm. She was pulled forward and bumped into the large body of her husband.“Do you really think you can escape from me, Solana? You’re ruining me.”“Ruining? You are the one ruining yourself, not me. If you didn’t have a mistress, then I would have nothing to tell Grandpa. But the problem is, you do. So sorry, because I am honest to the moon and back.”Zent closed his eyes for a moment, obviously trying very hard to control his anger. If she were just a tiny ant, he probably would have crushed her already.“We are only married on paper.”“Hmm,” she nodded. “You should have told yourself that last night when you touched me.”He had no answer to that, so she pushed him aside and started walking toward the house. She was already tired and exhausted. All she wanted was to lie down on the bed and sleep. She did not care about her husband and his performance as the best actor in the worl
Chapter 4Solana peeked at the door after hearing Zent’s voice the next morning while he was talking to someone on his smartphone. So he still had not left? What a miracle. His world usually revolved around his manager, the same woman who had practically thrown the bitter truth in her face—that something was going on between them whenever they were together. But now, that woman was already Zent’s mistress because he was married to her.“What can I do? Grandpa wants this,” Zent answered irritably to the person on the other line. “I’ll see what I can do. I’ll just call you—just wait, okay? This is also for your future. If I keep refusing his will, I won’t inherit anything. Everything will go to my child with… Solana. Do you understand?”She took a deep breath but stayed hidden by the door frame.“Yes, you heard me right, Rachel. Grandpa has already decided, so we have no other choice but to get along properly. And please do not make any scene. If you were handling my Hollywood career be
Solana blinked when Zent suddenly dropped himself onto the bed as soon as he entered the room. They had just moved into the big house earlier that day.Señor Lazaro had never looked happier when she and Zent arrived together, riding in the handsome car of her actor husband, whom he liked to call Raptor. That same day they met at Conrad was also the day they found out that Zent was the man who had pulled her inside the hotel. She later learned that he had been under the influence of drugs at that time. Apparently, he had gone to audition for a sexy movie that day, but he did not make it because another male artist, Jaiho, had already been chosen. Jaiho was also Zent’s rival in the shining world of show business. They were always competing against each other. In simple words, she finally got the evidence she needed after telling Señor Lazaro everything that had happened. What she did not know was that Lazaro had also been there that day to secretly watch over his only grandson. He had h
After getting dressed, Solana didn’t wait for her husband to finish preparing. It was honestly surprising that his manager-slash-personal assistant wasn’t around today. Before, even something as simple as putting on his clothes, someone else would already be there to help him, especially back during their wedding day.“Where do you want to eat, apo?” Lazaro asked with a warm smile as she approached him.Solana hugged him, even though she felt a bit awkward. Not because she disliked him, but because he was extremely rich, and she wasn’t used to people like him. Still, there was something comforting about him. He reminded her of her late grandparents, and that feeling made it hard for her to keep her distance.Despite all the rumors that Lazaro was strict and difficult, she didn’t see that side of him. To her, he seemed kind. In fact, she felt like Zent, her husband had a worse attitude than the old man.“You can decide, lolo. As long as I get to eat. I’m really hungry,” she said with a
