Chapter 2

Author: Cyathia
I hadn't been asleep long when a loud banging on the door jolted me awake.

"Get up and make my breakfast. I'm going to be late!"

It was Rio, my son, shouting impatiently from the other side of the door.

"I've had the servants prepare it. It will be sent up shortly."

I closed my eyes again, vaguely hearing Rio kick the door in frustration.

"Dad never should have brought you back.Clara always makes my breakfast. You're useless!"

The next time I opened my eyes, it was to Victor roughly dragging me from the bed.

"What did you expose Rio to!"

I stared at him, completely lost.

He pulled me in front of our son, who was covered in a red rash and struggling to breathe.

"Even if you're angry, you don't take it out on a pup. He has a severe allergy. If I hadn't found him, he would have suffocated!"

The pack healer arrived quickly and rushed Rio to the clinic. I ran after them, trying to explain.

"I honestly didn't know this would happen! I gave the servant a list of Rio's allergies, they promised they would be careful, I never thought…"

Victor shot me a look of disgust. "Stop making things up. You fired the last two specialists I hired and insisted on controlling Rio's environment yourself. He said a few words in Clara's favor, and you punish him like this."

"No, that's not it, it was because…"

"Enough."

He cut me off, his voice like ice. "Don't make me regret restoring your memories."

My explanation was stuck in my throat.

I used to control Rio's environment strictly because of the time he went out with Clara. He was kidnapped by a rogue wolf, and the attack left his own wolf fragile.

Many common flowers and herbs could trigger a violent reaction in his wolf.

Those two specialists had quit because they found his restrictions too demanding.

It was useless to explain.

The healer said Rio had inhaled the pollen from a sachet of dried Moonpetal flowers. He hadn't inhaled much, so it wasn't serious.

A single purification shot would fix it.

I found the servant, who trembled as he explained it was a "gift" from Clara. He knew Rio was fond of her and never imagined she'd give the boy something he was allergic to.

It seemed Rio's love for fragrant things had gotten the better of him. My old self's strict control had prevented disaster. My one moment of carelessness nearly cost him his life.

"Elena!"

Just as I was about to go explain to Victor, a small, soft body hugged my leg.

"Julie, what are you doing at the clinic?"

I knelt in surprise, hugging the little blonde girl. She had been my only friend during my amnesia.

In that forgotten time, when I was an empty shell, Julie had been a small sun, patiently teaching me how the world worked, talking to me, giving me a spark of warmth in the cold loneliness.

"She was playing and fell out of a tree, hit her head. Just getting it checked."

Julie's uncle, Alpha Julian of the Suncrest Pack, spoke. His eyes lit up when he saw me.

"Oh, are you okay, sweetie? Does it hurt?" I asked, stroking Julie's head.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and nuzzled my cheek. "It doesn't hurt, Julie just missed Elena so much."

"I missed you too."

Julian watched us with a gentle expression, his handsome face filled with concern. "What are you doing here? Are you unwell? Is it serious?"

"I'm fine. It's my son, he had an allergic reaction."

"Oh, good." He breathed a sigh of relief, then quickly corrected himself. "Uh… I don't mean it like that… I mean, is your son okay?"

I couldn't help but smile at his awkwardness. "He's fine. Just needs a shot."

He was about to say more when Victor's angry voice cut through the air.

"Elena—"

I turned. His gaze shifted from Julian to me, and my smile seemed to infuriate him, his brow tightening.

"Rio is crying."

I hurried to see Rio. The swelling on his face had gone down, but the after-effects of the shot were making him miserable, his eyes full of tears.

He pointed a tear-streaked finger at Julie, his voice tight with anger.

"Who is she?"

"This is Julie. She was with me at the witch's hut."

"Stop crying, the tears will irritate your skin. Besides, you're older than she is. Julie isn't crying, so you shouldn't either."

I don't know which word set him off.

Rio wailed. "Do you like her more than me now? You used to say I was the most important. You've changed. Go away, I don't want to see you!"

He had never liked me much. Fearing he'd get more agitated and affect the shot's absorption, I decided to leave the room.

I didn't see that as soon as I turned my back, Rio's lip trembled and he began to cry even harder.

Until one day, on my way home, I was blocked by a few masked men in black. Before I could make a move, Victor rushed out from the shadows like a raging lion, instantly tearing those kidnappers apart. But he was also seriously injured. A long cut was slashed across his abdomen, and blood flowed profusely. He fell to the ground, looking at me weakly, but with a triumphant smile in his eyes."Elena... look, I saved you...""I love you... you can't abandon me..."I looked at the man on the ground, bleeding non-stop.To be honest, I was moved for a split second. After all, we loved each other. But the next second, the scene of the cold operating room from my hypnotized memories flashed in my mind. That touch of emotion instantly vanished, replaced by deeper indifference.I squatted down and looked at him calmly."Thanks for the help. But I didn't ask you to save me.""Besides, if you hadn't come, I could have handled it. I could crush these little fish with one hand.""Don't use this self-r

Victor froze. He obviously didn't expect me to scold him for another man's sake. His face turned the color of a pig's liver, and his chest heaved violently."Elena... how can you scold me for him?""We've been together for so many years. We had so many beautiful memories!""Don't you remember any of them?"Leo also ran over, hugging my thigh and starting to wail."Mommy! Don't find someone else, okay! Daddy is your husband!""I'm your baby! Come home... I'm begging you..."I looked at this father and son pair, and all I felt was annoyance.Making a scene in public. Are you trying to roast me over the fire and let the whole pack watch the joke?I stood up abruptly and shook off Leo's hand."Enough!""Victor, since you like acting in tragic dramas so much, let's speak plainly.""I really have zero feelings for you.""Let alone so-called beautiful memories. I even feel it's unnecessary that you remember my phone number.""You say I forgot? Then I'll tell you, I remember clearly.""I remem

I vegged out at home for two days and got bored, so I decided to go out for a walk.As soon as I arrived at the commercial street of the pack center, I saw Victor and Leo hovering behind me like a tail.Victor wanted to come over but didn't dare. He just pretended to look at the shop window over there, but his eyes kept glancing at me.Leo was holding a wolf doll in his hand. He wanted to come over and play with me, but was held back by Victor. The scene was funnier than a mime show.I ignored them and walked straight into a high-end restaurant. As soon as I sat down, a bouquet of delicate red roses appeared in front of me.I looked up and a handsome face came into view.Golden hair, azure eyes, smiling like a golden retriever. It was Julian, the Alpha of the Light Pack, and also Julie's uncle."Beautiful lady, is this seat taken?"He shook the flowers in his hand. "If you don't mind, I'd like to invite you to lunch."I thought about it. I was free anyway, and this big golden retriever

Early the next morning, I was woken up by the doorbell.Opening the door, I saw Victor standing there with two huge dark circles under his eyes, holding a thermos in his hand.Seeing me open the door, a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes. He carefully raised the thermos."Elena... this is rabbit meat I hunted myself. I made soup into a stew. It's very nourishing...""You definitely didn't sleep well last night. Drink some soup."I frowned. The smell of blood made my stomach churn."I won't drink it. And drinking bloody stew first thing in the morning? Can you stand it? I can't."I tried to close the door, but he wedged his foot in the crack and said urgently."Elena, I know you're angry. Last night I was too impulsive.""Leo is very regretful too. He cried all night. His eyes are swollen. He's making a fuss at home to see you. Can you... come back and see him?""As long as you come home, I'll make Clara get lost. I'll make her never appear in the Shadow Pack again. Okay?"Listening to

Seeing Leo being wronged, the pain in Victor's eyes instantly turned into rage.An Alpha's pressure erupted with a boom. The snowflakes around us were shaken into the air by the airwave."Elena!!"He roared at me with red eyes,"Are you crazy? He's just a pup! Even if you're angry at me, you shouldn't take it out on the child!""Are you even human? That's your own flesh and blood pup! Where is your wolf heart? Did a dog eat it?"My eardrums hurt from his shouting. I rubbed my ears in displeasure."Victor, can you stop screaming like a husky having a menopausal meltdown?""I told you, I have zero empathy for him. Now looking at him is like looking at a stray dog on the roadside. If I'm in a good mood, I might feed him a bite. If I'm in a bad mood, I'll just find him noisy.""You were the one who insisted on dragging me back from the witch's place and restoring my memories. This mess is your own doing.""Blame me?"Victor was shaking with anger. The hand pointing at me was trembling."Fin

  • The Perfect Luna, the Broken Bond   Chapter 6

(Elena's Pov)I pushed open the thick oak door of the Moon Temple, and the cold wind hit my face. I tightened my coat.As soon as I went out, I saw two "door gods" standing at the entrance.Victor was kneeling in the snow. his silver hair was wet by the wind and snow, sticking messily to his cheeks. The usually arrogant and cold-eyed strong man now looked like an abandoned stray dog. His eyes were red, and he looked miserable.Leo was shrunk at his feet, his small face pale from the cold. Snot and tears were all over his face, and he was staring at me with eyes as if the sky had fallen.I paused for a second. It was a bit awkward. Not guilt, but social death.Who can stand being overheard by the main party?I scratched my hair and gave a dry laugh."Um... you guys are here too? The snow is pretty big. Are you out here training for cold resistance?"Victor trembled violently. He slowly raised his head. His ruby-like eyes were filled with bloodshot veins, and his voice was hoarse."Elena
