The training room smelled like sweat, steel, and blood.

Luna stood in the center of the combat floor with her sleeves rolled to her elbows, black gloves wrapped tight around her hands. The fluorescent lights above cast sharp shadows across the room, making every movement look harsher, colder.

Three HexaTech operatives circled her cautiously. None of them wanted to be the first to attack, none of them wanted to be the next one on the floor.

“You’re hesitating,” Luna said calmly. Her voice echoed

  • The Phantom Luna   Chapter Sixty: The Woman Who Called Herself My Mother

My mother. The words echoed inside my head. I’m your mother. I stared at the screen. The woman on it stood perfectly still, watching me with a faint smile. She looked nothing like the mother I remembered. My mother had died when I was young. At least, that was what I had been told. I remembered a small house, warm hands, and a soft voice. A woman who used to sing to me when storms shook the windows. Then one day, she was gone. My father had told me she died. There had been a funeral. A coffin. Flowers. Tears. I had believed it for most of my life. But the woman on the screen had the same eyes. The same silver-gray eyes that stared back at me whenever I looked in a mirror. “No.”The word escaped my lips. The woman smiled. “You always were stubborn.” Alexander stepped in front of me. “Who are you?” She ignored him. Her eyes remained fixed on mine. “You’ve grown.”My hands curled into fists. “You’re not my mother.” “You don’t remember me.” “I remember my mother.” “No.” Her smile disappea

The explosion threw me backward. I hit the floor hard enough to knock the air from my lungs. For one terrifying second, there was nothing but smoke. White, thick, and blinding. “Luna!” Alexander’s voice cut through the chaos. I pushed myself up. “My wolf!” I couldn’t see the chamber anymore. The glass was gone. The metal frame had been ripped apart. Sparks rained from the ceiling. My wolf was gone. I scrambled forward. “Luna, wait!” I ignored Alexander. I crawled through the broken glass, ignoring the sharp pieces cutting into my palms. “She was here.”My voice cracked. “She was right here.” I searched through the smoke. Nothing. No black fur. No silver eyes. Nothing. My chest tightened. “No.” I stood. “NO!” My scream echoed through the facility. I could barely feel her. Like a heartbeat beneath miles of earth. Luna. I froze. My wolf. She was still there. Alive. Where are you? For several seconds, there was only static inside my mind. Then— Run. My eyes widened. “Why?” They are comin

The message remained on the screen.PHANTOM-01 IS AWAKE.IT KNOWS YOU’RE COMING.I couldn’t look away. Alexander Quinn’s name sat beneath the coordinates like an accusation. My wolf had spoken only one thing. He’s not the enemy. But my instincts weren’t convinced. I had spent five years learning one simple rule: Trust nobody. Not Desmond. Not Liora. Not HexaTech. And certainly not the most dangerous man in the supernatural world.Alexander had appeared at the summit like he had been waiting for me. He had called me his mate. I had rejected him. And yet, every time his name appeared, something inside me reacted. Not fear but recognition. I hated it.“Luna.” Desmond’s voice pulled me from my thoughts. I turned. “What?” “You can’t go there alone.” I almost laughed. “I’ve gone through worse alone.” “That’s not what I mean.” “You don’t get to decide what I can handle.” His expression hardened. “I know.” The answer surprised me.Desmond looked at the screen again. “But whatever is inside th

  • The Phantom Luna   Chapter Fifty-Seven: Project Phantom

The name stayed on the screen. DESMOND CROSS.For several seconds, nobody spoke. I stared at the words until they blurred. Then I laughed. It wasn’t a happy laugh. It was the kind of laugh that came when reality became so absurd that anger didn’t know where else to go. “Say it again.”Jenna swallowed. “Desmond Cross is listed as the lead authorization on Project Phantom.” I looked at Desmond. He was staring at the screen too. His expression had gone completely blank. “I don’t know anything about that project.”I turned toward him. “Of course you don’t.” His eyes snapped to mine. “What is that supposed to mean?” “It means you were very good at pretending not to know things.” His jaw tightened. “I didn’t authorize anything called Project Phantom.” “Your name is on it.” “Then someone used my credentials.” “Convenient.” “Luna.” “No.” I stepped closer. “Don’t say my name like that.” He stared at me. “I swear to you, I don’t know what this is.” I wanted to believe him. That was the worst p

  • The Phantom Luna   Chapter Fifty-Six: The Enemy Within

The question followed me long after Desmond stopped speaking. Who the hell are you?I stood in the middle of the wrecked HexaTech conference room, surrounded by overturned chairs, shattered glass, and the metallic smell of blood. I looked at Desmond. For the first time since I had returned to his world, there was no arrogance in his eyes. Only confusion, fear, and something dangerously close to recognition. I wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth with the back of my hand. “I’m the person you should have been afraid of five years ago.”His jaw tightened. “Luna…” I raised my hand. “Don’t.” He stopped. I didn’t want to hear my name in his voice. Not from him. Not after everything. Around us, several attackers lay unconscious. The remaining ones had disappeared through the emergency exits before HexaTech security could reach them. But one thing kept bothering me. They hadn’t come here to kill everyone. They had come for me. And one of them had called me Phantom. That wasn’t suppose

  • The Phantom Luna   Chapter Fifty-Five: The Phantom Revealed

The room went silent. Not the comfortable kind of silence. The dangerous kind. The kind that came before a gunshot.I stood at the center of the conference room with my arms folded, staring at the projection on the wall. One photograph. One face. One name. DESMOND CROSS.My pulse didn’t change. At least, not where anyone could see it. Five years ago, that name had been enough to destroy an entire day. Now it was just another variable. Another obstacle. Another piece on a board I already knew how to play. “You’re certain?” I asked.Marcel stood beside the screen, his expression unusually serious. “We ran the facial recognition three times.” “Three?” “Three.” “And the records?” “Confirmed.” I looked at the photograph again. Desmond was standing beside several Silverfang representatives outside a private facility in Manhattan. He looked older and harder. His hair was shorter than I remembered, and there were faint lines around his eyes that hadn’t been there when I’d left. He was still

Five years ago— Luna Albert died quietly. There was no funeral, no mourning, no one noticed how deeply she was hurt, no one noticed the exact moment she disappeared. The silence after Alexander’s grip tightened around Desmond’s wrist did not feel like silence. It felt like pressure.Like the entire ballroom had been dropped underwater, sound warped and distant, every movement slowed beneath something heavier than fear.Desmond’s face twisted.
