"Thank you."

Maya muttered to the driver before closing the door behind her gently, she watched as the car zoomed off into the distance, leaving behind a thick dust cloud in its wake. Maya took one last look at the empty street before turning and making a beeline for her apartment complex. It was late into the night and she secretly hoped that Gab would not be at home.

Her hopes were dashed when she noticed the lights were on in the living room. She made a strangled noise at the back of her throat, contemplating if she could go back and beg Alex to let her stay the night.

No way, she shook her head vehemently. She wasn't going to reduce herself to begging for favors like this. She marched up the steps leading to the front door and inserted her key into the lock, the door gave way as she twisted the handle and swung open with an ominous creak. Maya shut the door behind her, making sure to secure the deadbolt before shuffling inside. She kicked her shoes off and headed toward the living
