Chapter 10 - Day One

Randelle's POV:

The looming challenge weighed heavy on my mind as Jeremy and I left Kieran's misty glen. Luthien, the formidable direwolf, awaited me at the canyon's end. My determination flickered like a fragile flame in the wind.

We journeyed east in tense silence at first. Kieran's words echoed in my thoughts - "subdue Luthien." Finally I voiced the question that had been gnawing at me.

"What exactly did Kieran mean by 'subdue' her?" I asked Jeremy. "He wasn't very clear about what I need to do."

Jeremy glanced at me, his tawny eyes reflecting a mix of concern and steadfast confidence in my ability.

"It means you'll need to establish complete dominance over Luthien," he explained. "Prove that you are the alpha, the one fully in control. She's no ordinary beast, Randelle."

His words sent a chill through me. Luthien was more than just a wolf - she was a primal force of nature. And I would have to conquer her ferocity and power.
