Auriana's POV

I stared at Maximus, unsure if I should. I didn't know why but my guts told me not to trust hil. However, I really wanted to know why Lennox was absent. If he was fine at least.

I gave it a deep thought. “Fine, I'll follow you.”

“No you'll not! Max are you crazy?,” Vidia shouted but Maximus simply ignored her.

He stepped closer to me. “Come with me then.”

“I need to inform my friend first,” I said, returning to our table.

“I'll be back in a minute. I have something urgent to do,” I informed Liam and Ethan who simply gave me a nod.

I hurried back to Maximus. “Let's go.”

We both left the cafeteria and Vidia insisted on coming with us. I followed Maximus who led me to the laboratory which was now empty since all the students were out for lunch.

“Why are we here,” I asked but received no reply. For a moment, I noticed Max and Vidia exchanging glances like they were in some kind of secret conversation.

We reached the door of the lab and surprisingly we didn't enter. Instead,

  • The Rebirth of His Enemy    Chapter 35: monster and prey

Lennox's POVThe moment my teeth sank into his arm, a surge of pain coursed through him. He fell to the ground, his bones breaking and muscles contorting as claws erupted from his fingertips. His jaw elongated, teeth grew sharper, and his eyes ignited with a golden fire. Soon, his scream transformed into a howl— the young frail boy was now replaced with a wolf. His golden eyes blazed with something darker and primal. The other students were already alert, eyes wide in shock.“Who are you monster?” The one at the window hissed, jumping down to run away. “Y'all cover for me,” he demanded but the others were still in a daze.I crouched down, patting the wolf's fur. “Hey Kai. Do you feel the strength,” I demanded calmly and it led out a soft growl. “Good. Now look at all those who have made your life a living hell till this day,” I continued softly, stroking his fur. “It's time to get your revenge. Look at the fear in their eyes. Isn't that satisfying,” I demanded coldly and he growled ap

  • The Rebirth of His Enemy    Chapter 34: First convert

Lennox's POVThe sharp sound of the rifle echoed in the room and my heart stopped for a millisecond. My eyes which held the principal's hand slowly drifted down to the gun and where it was pointed to see no trace of blood. The gun was empty. It didn't contain any bullets. My heaving chest slowly returned back to its normal rhythm as he took a step back, still examining my expression.“You're innocent,” he said, guilt tripping in his voice. “I'm sorry for scaring you,” he apologized, slowly going back to his desk, his eyes filled with the disappointment that he was wrong. I bit my lips to stop myself from smiling. When Auriana had come to the uncompleted building earlier, I sensed something was wrong with her. Though she tried to hide it, the quickness of her pulse and the uneven beating of her heart didn't go unnoticed. She looked like she was battling with some internal conflict. And, the look in her eyes was filled with uncertainty, caught between trust and disbelief. It wasn't hard

  • The Rebirth of His Enemy    Chapter 33: Test

Gregory's POVI waited patiently on my desk first for the suspect to come meet me. I had already prepared my weapons in advance. The young girl had assured me that her pendant could detect wolves and from my examination, it was also there efficient in detecting Werewolves too but I had insisted that one last test be conducted. I couldn't take any chances. Since the first day, my intuition told me not to trust the boy and from my experience it had never failed me. So I convinced Auriana to bring the boy here for one final test.I heard footsteps from outside and I closed my eyes trying to feel the beat of his heart. A Werewolves heartbeat was different from that of a human and if one concentrated enough, he could identify it. I listened intensely to the rhythm of his heart. It was slow, measured. The Werewolves heartbeat was like a double beat. Unlike the humans, it was out of sync like.Thud-thud pause, thud-thudIt was louder, heavier and could be heard unlike the human heartbeat tha

  • The Rebirth of His Enemy    Chapter 32: Trap

Auriana's POVI left the principal's office immediately after I was told to go home. I had entered there confused but now, my head was in a frenzy. I wrapped my arms around my shoulder, still trying to digest everything I had learnt. Till today, I never gave more attention to my mother's warnings about werewolves because I never believed in them in the first place but now, turns out they not only existed but were in our school. How would the school respond to this because I don't think we were safe anymore. If Reese was killed by a werewolf then someone else might be their next victim. The worst case was that there was no clear way to differentiate a werewolf from a human. That meant we had to be wary of everyone. This was terrible. For all I knew the person in front of me might be a werewolf or maybe those girls chatting at the sight.I had thought my necklace would give me a signal if I encountered a werewolf but what if my pendant only reacted to wolves. That meant I couldn't trust

  • The Rebirth of His Enemy    Chapter 31: Werewolves are in school

Auriana's POVI nervously looked down, fighting for the right words but my breath hitched. If I understand well then the principal believed a werewolf survived which meant…. I was still trying to wrap my head around everything.“We don't have time to waste Auriana,” the principal said. “I hope right now you must have grasped the severity of this situation so— I need you to confirm if what you saw was a… wolf.”They both looked at me sternly and I couldn't help but lower my gaze. This felt worse than an interrogation and of course I knew it was crucial to tell the truth but what about dad, what if that photo of him got out, then what. Even though I had no idea about what was happening there, I couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't right and what if I was given some kind of punishment for lying to the principal.“We don't have much time, Auriana,” Miss Diane scolded. “Can you confirm the animal that killed Reese was a wolf?” She asked again and I bit my lip nervously. I wanted to te

  • The Rebirth of His Enemy    Chapter 30: The truth

Auriana's POV“Why?" I asked, confused. “Did I do something wrong?” A restless unease stirred in me. I didn't remember doing anything that would warrant me to the principal's office so why was I being summoned.“You'll know when you get there. I'm just a messenger.” Miss Diane replied passively, then turned her heel before I could get a word in and I silently followed her. As I approached the principal’s office, my steps grew increasingly heavy. I couldn’t shake the memory of my last visit—standing rigidly in front of his desk. My palms became sweaty at the thought, and for a brief moment, I gulped before entering the office. The principal sat there, but this time, he wasn't carrying that amused expression he always had. If anything his expression was so tense like a pressing matter was at hand.“Take a seat Auriana,” he said calmly and I gave a little nod, hiding the nervousness I felt. Taking a deep breath, I took a seat from across his table. Miss Diane who stood beside me all this
