Rosa's POV

"Who is she? Why keep an exiled wolf?"

"Keep it down! Alpha Rylan brought her back himself."

I lay in the Sunstone pack’s medical den, weak but awake. Four days had passed. My wounds were starting to heal, but the whispers around me never stopped.

"I don't need your pity," I told the female wolf who came in to change my dressings.

Lyra, the Sunstone pack's head healer, paused. "We don't give pity to outsiders, only treatment to the injured."

"Then thank you for your professionalism," I said quietly.

"Why would the Shadowmoon pack banish their own Luna?" Lyra couldn't help asking. "Even the worst Lunas are rarely stripped of their title."

"Because some people matter more than the truth."

Our conversation was cut short by a tall figure appearing at the cave entrance. Rylan walked in, bringing the morning chill with him.

"You look much better today, Rosa," he said with a slight smile.
