After his bride to be had left in a hurry, Vincent called Amelia to see if Camille was mad at him but Amelia reported that Camille wasn't picking her calls or returning her texts, he got worried, naturally.
Amelia also mentioned that Mrs Salvatore had stopped by, the woman was an antagonist of their union and knowing fully what he's to gain from it, Vincent knew he had to play the good guy until he gets it, hence he headed for the one place Camille would be after dropping by at her residence to find out she wasn't there, the Salvatore mansion.
Coincidentally, he met with the foresighted woman who scowled at him but he put on a concerned look as Camille questioned the rationale behind his presence, thinking she only lied about dumping him but he was in for the shock of his life.
Camille coughed violently and her mother gave her a glass of water, though she still had a frown plastered on her face, her motherly instincts were still intact.
“Are you alright?” Vincent asked, worriedly.
“Don't move any closer. You heard me right? I'm dumping you, we're over, I'm in love with another man.” Camille said, after recovering.
Vincent chuckled. “Is this some sort of joke?”
“Does it sound funny to you?” She snapped.
Vincent was taken aback by her snappy comments, he was used to her never raising her voice at him.
“Is there something wrong? Did I do something to offend you, am I-”
“Get over it and leave, I'm no longer interested, the wedding is off and yes….” Camille retorted, removing the engagement ring he gave her. “Here's the ring. You can leave now please, my mother doesn't like the sight of you.” Camille said, bluntly.
She walked up to him and forcefully placed the ring in his hand then stepped away, she threw a hand around her mother's shoulder, lazily and smiled. “Bernard says you were on a business trip, ?”
Dolores was shocked at what just happened and couldn't speak, “Tell me mom, what flavor of ice cream do you prefer the most, chocolate or vanilla because I'm craving for some, Bernard also scolded me earlier…”
Camille walked her mother back to her room, Delores was shocked and well, at her daughter's new attitude. “What's happening Camille?” She asked, confusedly.
Camille hugged her intimately, a tear dropped from her eyes remembering how she's made her mother suffer in the past for a lie.
“I'm sorry I didn't listen to you from the onset Mom but never again will I upset you.” Camille apologized.
Delores melted into her daughter's arm and couldn't help and pacify her and she cried even harder, afterall every mother wants their daughter to make the right decision.
They spent the rest of the day catching up, Camille announcing that she was there to stay and avoiding the topic of who the man she claimed to be in love with was.
Vincent, on the other hand left reluctantly, still in disbelief of what had happened, he reported it to Amelia who immediately tried to get a hold of Camille with no success.
That night, Camille received a call from her P.A, stating that there was an important business meeting the next day. She reviewed their proposal that night and made few changes to it, in thr past, she's lost lots of deals because she wanted to please Vincent but not anymore, it was time to put things right.
The next morning, she had breakfast with her family though Delores was still suspicious of her daughter's sudden change of heart, she accommodated it.
While Bernard didn't hesitate to badmouth Camille the moment she stepped out of the house. “you really believe her mom? She could be deceiving us all.”
“She's your sister Bernie, why are you thinking that worse?” Dolores chastised.
Bernard held grudges because Camille has always been the better child, she excelled in all that she did and she started her own company herself and is doing far better than him who inherited their parents’
“You'll regret not listening to me Mom, I promise.” He swore as he stormed away, angrily.
Dolores sighed heavily, hoping for Camille's sake, she wasn't deceiving them all.
Elegantly dressed in a Grey tailored suit, black penciled skirt and a grey stiletto, Camille alighted from her car and walked into a building with Giovanni's Industries Inc written in block letters on.
“Miss Salvatore!” Antonia, the P.A exclaimed as she saw her boss.
Camille waved her hand dismissively while Antonia nodded in respect, giving her a document. “Have you enforced all the corrections I suggested?” Camille asked, walking fastly.
“Yes, of course.”
She suddenly halted and Antonia was confused. “Show me the way.”
Three minutes later, they walked into the biggest conference room she's ever seen, apparently, their business meeting would be held there which was very weird.
However, in the middle was a large table set up for a standard business meeting and few men were already seated, Camille took her seat, greeted them politely and got down to business.
Three hours later, a resounding applauses filled the place as they were impressed by her demure intelligence. All that was left was for the deal to be signed.
“So, when do we get to the real thing?” Camille asked, audaciously.
“We're totally impressed by your presentation Miss Salvatore, however; the decision isn't for us to make.” One of the judges uttered.
Camille frowned. “Whose call is it to make?”
“Mine!”
They all turned around to see a masculine figure stand by the entrance, hands in pocket and swaggering towards them, Camille couldn't see his face at first but she was irritated at his arrogance so she coffee and looked away.
He halted right in front of her and chuckled.
“Hello Miss Salvatore, did you enjoy your breakfast?”
Camille instantly recognized the voice and jumped to her feet. “Ugly mouse!” She exclaimed then burst into laughter.
Nico was taken aback and embarrassed by her, she hit him playfully on the chest with the documents she held and then frowned, remembering sher situation.
“How dare you-”
“Not a word from you mouse! How dare you try to pull a trick on me! How much did you pay to put on this show uhn? You do know it would have been a lot more profitable if you spent it on skincare or plastic surgery right? Shameless fellow! Wasting my time and resources. C'mon Antonia, we've fallen victim of a scam.” Camille muttered, fearlessly, assuming Nico was a fraud.
Antonia reluctantly obeyed her boss and gathered up all that they brought. Nico was too stunned to speak and could only frown, she snapped her fingers at him, cursing him under her breath before walking away.
“What just happened?” Nico asked, rhetorically.
Camille walked back to her car, swearing at Nico for wasting her time but was stopped when someone called out her name, she turned around slowly to see Amelia and Vincent running towards her, her frown deepened.
“What do you want?” She threw at them.
“Camille, what is going on?” Amelia asked, tearily.
“I don't want to talk to either of you, go away.” She said, lackadaisically.
“Camille, let's talk please. I'll forget everything you've said and then-”
“Let it go Vincent, we're done.”
“How can you fall in love with another man! That's simply impossible, there's no other man, this is some form of punishment right? I'll accept it joyfully but please…..stop hurting me with those words.” Vincent said, emotionally.
Camille was about to retort when she sighted Nico walking up to her, red-faced, she smirked. “Darling.” She drawled and met him halfway.
Nico's eyes questioned her audacity but without warning she dragged his tie, causing him to bend a bit then she crashed her lips on his, kissing him intimately, he was shocked but kissed her back, she broke off the kiss and wrapped her hands around his neck.
“I've considered your request darling, so yes, let's get married!”
Nico got up, completely ignoring the doctor that was giving him the information he requested. He ran his hands through his dark silk hair that fell over his face and let out a sigh, one that seemed to push all the painful memories to the back of his head.“What's her room number?” Nico asked, his calm facial expression swiftly turning into that of a quiet camouflaged snake, ready to destroy his prey slowly and yet in the most painful way.“I'll take you there.” The confused doctor said with calm professionalism. He could never really understand Nico's mood changes. He stood up as well and ushered himself towards his office door.“That's the least you could do” Nico began sarcastically, “you've kept me waiting long enough, doctor. And I don't appreciate delays.’ Nico said with a hard expression, his tone sharp.Doctor Henderson hesitated. “I'm truly sorry for the wait. We just wanted to make sure she was properly settled and comfortable.” Henderson also wanted to remind him of his requ
Nico walked into the hospital with so much grace, emitting an aura that made the people around him feel highly intimidated. He hadn't bothered to change out of his mud stained joggers as he had something more threatening to do.Despite that, he looked as handsome as ever. His perfect jaw line was more pronounced as he clenched his jaw, and his black shiny hair that had overgrown a little fell to his face. His purely defined lips stayed in a straight line and his always-bored baby blue eyes held an icy glare at no one in particular.Nico walked with more grace towards the ward attendant in the hospital, he was really angry he had to state Miranda's name and room number before she; the ward attendant, could know who he was or who he wanted to see.“Sir, I'm sorry but you'll have to wait.” The ward attendant paused, as if studying his reaction. She continued when she assumed he wasn't going to make any violent move, “she's resting right now and can't be seen. When she's awake, you'll be
“I just need to take a walk” Camille sighed and exited her room. She walked down the flight of stairs carefully, as if making sure not to hurt the ground beneath her naked feet.A dog barked behind her and she turned to look. It was her 23rd birthday gift, Stud.“Hey girl,” Camille smiled, squatting to pat the head of the small sized Chihuahua. Stud sat loyally and panted quietly, wagging her tail and whining at Camille's touch.Camille had missed the growth of her favorite animal and she had to add that to her almost-full regret list.Camille took a hold of her light chain, clipped it to her black collar and led her down the stairs.“Mother” Camille called, not really expecting an answer. Downstairs was too quiet and she began to wonder where everyone had suddenly disappeared to.“Where they even here in the first place?” Camille thought to herself. She held Stud’s chain firmly in her hands as the dog was a little too restless.“Mother?” Camille called again. She began to head up the
The sunlight seeped through the gaps in the curtains, shining directly onto her face. Camille groaned, half awake, she rolled over and raised her pillow to bury her head under it. As she placed her head on what was supposed to be her blanket, she heard something rustle and felt a nylon material rubbing against her face.Camille paused. With blurry eyes, she raised her pillow up and pulled out a half eaten candy that was stuck to the side of her face.“Ugh!” She groaned. “Why am I such a messy sleeper?” She asked rhetorically, rubbing her exhausted hands over her eyes to remove the grit on them. She sat up on her bed and reached to massage her scalp. Her hair was open.“Shit!” Camille cussed, reasking herself the rhetorical question she asked earlier. Her face fell as she heaved a heavy sigh.“I had plans for this hair”Camille looked at her hands and discovered they were stained with mascara. “Ugh!” She groaned again, staring at the mess her face had done on her pillow… and the entire
“Grrrrrr!!!” An alarm clock rang violently at the ungodly hour of 5:00 AM, vibrating through a high nightstand and falling heavily on a forehead.“Fuck…” Nico groaned, startled at both the sudden sound of the clock and the pain that shot through the front of his head.Nico sat up, heaving. He was angry, really angry. He was never a morning person and this was just going to intensify his crankiness.5:00 AM, to Nico, was a really bad time to get up from bed. It was a time that the brain was still processing all the information it received the previous day. It was definitely not a time to start any form of activity.Nico picked the alarm clock that had now slipped unto his grey-cased pillow and glared at it.To vent out his frustrations on his newly found enemy, he swung the clock across the room with so much velocity that from the sound of its shattering, he was sure it broke to pieces. He felt solaced by the sound of that.“If only I could do this to the thought of her” Nico mummured
Amelia looked at Vincent, they were both shocked.“Camille...” Vincent trailed, “have you been cheating on me?”“I'll leave that to your imagination. Have you? That doesn't even matter. What matters is that I love him,” Camille said, holding Nico's arm tightly. “And we're going to get married soon.”“Camille, are you okay? Did he threaten you?” Amelia asked, reaching to touch Camille who instinctively moved back, disgust written all over her face.“I've made my decision, sweet, honest bestie,” Camille said sarcastically. “I would like you to respect it. It's the most you could do for me right now.”“What- what has he done that I haven't done for you? Why are you treating me this way?” Vincent almost broke down. His breathing was shallow as he tried to control both his anger and his pain.“Well, inasmuch as I don't owe you an explanation, I'm gonna tell you anyway. He is really smart, cooks well, fucks well, treats me well and name it. He's a hundred times better than you- the both of
