CHAPTER FORTY-SIX

Mike's POV

(…a comeback)

The station was well-lit, as the time of day had little effect on their vision.

As the men approached them gently, Mike raised his arms to conceal Lucia behind him. He had expected a fight, but not this soon.

"Hand over the lady and get out of our way," one of them, who appeared to be the gang's leader, ordered. Four people stood behind him. “How bad can your manners be?.“, Mike interjected jokingly, raising his other arm to check the time, “It's 2 in the morning. A simple greeting wouldn't make you more ugly, rather than berge on innocent citizens”, he laughed nervously as he took an extra step back. He had learnt the trick of sounding stupid in the face of danger to distract his opposition. He hoped his plan doesn't turn against him.

“Are you out of your mind?“, Lucia whispered into his ears, “These men are armed and the best you can do is make silly jokes that'll get us into more trouble”
