Richard’s POV:

I set out for the forest at just a few minutes to midnight.

The entire pack compound was completely quiet, and I could not hear even a sound. As I walked to the edge of the forest, I kept out of the streetlights shining down and instead kept to the corners of the streets, where I could easily blend in with the shadows.

The clothes I was wearing - the ones that Darren had procured for me - were coated with a different scent other than mine. It was specifically for the purpose of this mission, so that no one would be able to identify me as the one to attack tonight.

As I kept on walking through the forest, my senses were on high alert. I could hear every sound of the crickets, every rustling of the leaves of the trees, and every other sign of ice in this vast forest.

I was also careful to walk as stealthily as possible, so that not even a sound came from me. My breathing was slow and steady, and I didn’t make any untoward sound that would give away my location.
