Looking at the mirror, the redness of my cheeks did not take me by surprise. I didn’t know exactly what I had been expecting but I never thought he could lay his hands on me.

My eyes were swelling with so many unshaded tears as I ran away from the hall back into my room. The room that seems to be my haven in this new home of mine.

Cleaning off the tears I looked at the mirror again and noticed the scar that was peeking outside of the makeup that I had used to close it off.

My heart felt so heavy that I wanted to slump to the floor and never stand again, I feel so hurt and my eyes could not register what had happened in there.

“He slapped us because of her, I cannot believe him.” My wolf whimpered as she still could not believe it.

Cleaning off the makeup I fell to the floor and just stayed there. There was so much that I needed to know, and now if I am going to survive in this place I need to be strong for myself.

Hugging my legs as I wrapped myself I sniffled more of the tears that came as I sat there on the floor with so many thoughts running through my mind, I wish I was stronger than this, maybe just maybe I would be able to face the monsters outside.

After a whole day of being inside this room, I had talked so much to myself and knew how much I needed to be strong if I wanted to survive. I don’t know what to do yet but I knew I had to think about myself as well.

Leaving the room I walked outside and stumbled on someone who was bent in front of my door.

“Go…. Good morning.” The female bent on the floor stuttered through her words as her head was still bent down and not looking at me.

She has red hair and they are so curly as they flowed to her face with the way she bent.

“Good morning, who may you be??” I asked her while standing in front of the door as I held it and my eyes were on her.

She raised her head a little and peeked at me before dropping it back and kneeling properly.

“My name is Jessica and I’m meant to serve you, our future Luna.” She replied to me so slowly that I had to stand straighter as she stumbled on her words.

I sighed softly and walked past her into the living room.

I could feel her following me as I walked and settled down on one of the sofas.

My eyes scanned through the place I had stood where the slap happened and I wanted to take back all that had happened right there.

“Do you need anything??” The girl Jessica asked me and I raised my eyes and looked at her properly.

She seems to be the same age as I am. She stood taller her posture straight as she threw a glance my way.

If she was going to serve me, then there was no need for me to give her any attitude.

I was so tired from the previous day and just wanted my mind to be calm and for me to be calm too.

“Who sent you here??” I asked her and she looked at me again before walking to the chair beside her and settling down.

She sighed as she looked at me more, her eyes appeared relaxed. She appears to be calm but in those big brown eyes that she was staring right back at me with, there was nothing calm about the way she was looking at me.

“I wish there was a way for me to say no, but with all that has happened in the pack, this is the only place I could end up in.”

There was so much more to her words but I didn’t bother to press more words out of her as I sat there and looked at her.

Letting all the thoughts in my head fall away I decided to forget all about that.

“And do you have any idea where my supposed husband is??” I asked her.

She nodded as she stood up.

“It is the Alpha that asked me to serve you, he said I should make sure you are very comfortable in our pack, you have nothing to worry about Miss Elodie.”

She had a smile on her face for the first time this morning, and somehow I wished that I could replicate that smile, but I knew so much that it wasn’t for me, there was no way that I could smile that brightly after all that has happened.

“That is very thoughtful of him.” Standing I walked towards the kitchen because as much as I have gone through a lot, I needed to fill my stomach to the brim.

Somehow I know that this is just the beginning and I will regret ever stepping foot into this pack.

“We will be fine.” Her voice was as calm as ever she said to me.

I wish that was real, all we have ever wanted was someone who will love us just the way we are and that seems to be impossible.

If our mate can hate us this much, then there is no place on earth for my wolf and me.

“Are you okay??” The girl Jessica asked and I looked up and blinked at her, that is when I realized that tears had dropped from my eyes.

Sniffling them away I reminded myself of all those warnings that I repeated so much inside that room that I locked myself into.

“You don’t have to worry about anything, I have so much to show you today and I’m sure you will have the best time.” Jessica grinned at me as she showed her enthusiasm but I wished that I could reciprocate.

Meanwhile all I wanted to do was curl inside my bed and never leave there again.

After settling down for breakfast with Jessica chatting away to my ears, the only thing I made out of what she was saying was that she was going to show me the whole pack, and even though I didn’t like the idea, I wanted to see it despite myself.

But what will he say about that? The thought couldn’t leave my head as we wandered away later on.

WILLIAMSAt first, I thought I misheard the sound.Told myself it was nothing, just my mind playing tricks on me.But I wasn’t wrong. The moment I heard that desperate shout, I knew what it meant. My father had returned to me… dead.A pain I never wanted to feel settled deep in my chest. As his only son and the future Alpha, I was supposed to be strong. I was meant to lead, to be unwavering until the funeral rites were completed. Through it all, I wasn’t supposed to shed a single tear.I watched the strongest man I had ever known laid to rest.Seeing him in his wolf form, I knew, he and Kevin, his wolf, had fought until the very last breath.Every warrior who had gone out with him had been slaughtered, their heads sent back to us as a warning.I told myself I couldn’t afford to let that shake me.But I was lying. The sight alone had left me dismayed, my mind spiraling. With the funeral over, the next step was inevitable, my ascension as Alpha. This was what I had been trained for my w

Death. That’s what it signified. A mighty death had taken place. The dark clouds that loomed over the pack meant only one thing.I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, fear tightening in my chest. My black eyes were wide with panic as I pushed forward. Around me, the pack was in chaos—whispers turning to frantic questions, uncertainty filling the air. But deep down, we all knew the truth. The Alpha was gone. The weight of the realization stopped me in my tracks. My heart pounded against my ribs, the sheer magnitude of it crushing.“You have to stop running, Princess Elodie.”Jessica’s voice came from behind me, breathless from chasing after me.“I don’t think your husband will want you out here like this. We have to go back inside, please.” She pleaded softly, concern etched into her voice. For a moment, I just stood there, the grief pressing down on me like an unbearable weight.Even Zoe, who always had something to say, was silent. The fear of the unknown coiled tight in my stomac

The pack had been eerily quiet since the Alpha left. It felt as if the entire territory had turned into a graveyard overnight. No one spoke loudly, no one laughed, and the air was thick with tension. Fear lingered in every corner, creeping into our bones as we waited for news. The worst part was not knowing what would happen next.“I don’t know why we’re all so scared,” Jessica said one morning as we stood in the kitchen. She tried to sound reassuring, but the tightness in her voice betrayed her worry. “He’ll be back before we know it.”I wanted to believe her.But the silence stretched on, and the weight of uncertainty pressed down harder.I focused on preparing breakfast, my hands moving methodically as I chopped and stirred. I wasn’t cooking for myself.I was cooking for Liam. Before anyone could judge me, I had my reasons. He had barely spoken in two days since his father left. I knew he was planning something, probably his escape, but for now, he stayed. For now, he was still her

We rushed into the head office where my father, his beta, and the council sat around a large wooden table, deep in discussion. The heavy atmosphere in the room pressed down on me the moment Andrew and I stepped inside.I forced myself to calm my racing heart as I took in the serious expressions around me. My father’s sharp eyes found mine immediately.“What is the matter?” I asked through the mind link, my tone firm.He exhaled, rubbing his temples before speaking aloud for everyone to hear. “You both need to sit down for this.”That alone made my pulse quicken. A sudden meeting like this only meant one thing, trouble.Andrew and I moved to the empty seats opposite my father. I kept my posture straight, my expression unreadable, though unease churned in my stomach.“The representatives from the New Haven pack have returned our peace offerings. Every gift, every proposal, sent back without a word.”Silence followed his statement. The weight of what it meant sank in fast. If they reject

WILLIAMS“She liked it so much. You should have seen the way her whole face lit up the moment she saw the gesture,” Drew said as soon as we met up to walk to the combat field together.I nodded, keeping my face straight and my gaze fixed ahead.I shouldn’t care. My mind shouldn’t be filled with thoughts of how her face looked when she saw the field that was now hers. But deep down, I wanted to know.“Why didn’t you just give her the gift yourself? Trust me, she would have appreciated it more if it had come from you.” Drew’s words were casual, but they struck something inside me.I thought back to the field nights we had shared, the constant worry gnawing at me whenever she was there. It was dangerous, too dangerous for her. That was why I made this decision, why I went ahead and did it without thinking about that part of me that wanted nothing to do with her.But this past week, I had learned too much about her to ignore. She was kind, soft-hearted, and gentle in the way she interacte

  • The Rejected Princess Elodie   CHAPTER 12

I woke up with the excitement of last night still buzzing through my body. I tried to hold back my smile, but it was impossible.Zoe was happy, and that meant I was happy too. That was all that mattered.“What’s got you smiling so early in the morning?” Jessica’s voice filled the room as she walked in, her own smile just as radiant. She was the only person I felt comfortable seeing me without makeup, without the mask I usually wore. Through her eyes, I could see the beauty my face held, even when I struggled to see it myself.“Let’s just say I slept well.” I winked at her, earning a laugh as she moved toward my dresser, sifting through my clothes. It looked like she had decided she would be picking my outfit for the day.“Oh, I almost forgot,” she added casually. “Williams stopped me on the way here. He said he wants to have breakfast with you.”My heart skipped a beat. I tried to keep my expression neutral, but the excitement that surged through me was hard to suppress.“What? Why?”
