Rayna POV

His gaze snapped to mine, hot and golden, and the bond pulsed hard between us - an echo of defiance, heat, hunger. I felt his wolf push against his skin the same way mine clawed inside me, restless, demanding.

“Rayna-” His tone was warning. Always warning. Always holding back.

I stepped forward, refusing to lower my eyes, refusing to yield. “I’m not a child you can shield behind your back. Not anymore.”

The air between us thickened, sharp with tension. My wolf stretched, prowling just beneath my skin, daring him to push me further. I could feel his dominance pressing against me like a wall - and for the first time, I didn’t shrink from it. I pushed back.

Lira muttered something under her breath and stepped aside, clearly realizing she wasn’t the one either of us was focused on anymore.

Damon closed the space between us in two strides, his chest nearly brushing mine, his scent wrapping around me like smoke and heat. “You don’t know how dangerous this is,” he hissed.

“And you

Damon’s POVThe silence after death is heavier than the fight itself.Aiden’s body lay twisted in the dirt, blood soaking into the earth, steam rising faintly into the cool night. His golden eyes were glass now, frozen in that final moment of recognition, his last word still echoing in my head.Queen.Rayna’s howl had torn the clearing apart, bending every wolf here beneath the weight of her dominance. Even now, the echoes lingered in my chest, my wolf trembling, my lungs heaving like I’d just been torn apart and stitched back together. And still, I couldn’t look away from her.Her massive silver wolf stood over his corpse, chest rising, fur streaked with blood, eyes blazing with power that was older, stronger than anything I’d ever felt. My mate. My Queen. My everything. But the clearing didn’t stay silent for long. The rogues - my rogues - shifted restlessly at the edges. They’d followed me because I gave them a cause, because I was the Alpha who clawed power from nothing. They hadn

Damon POVAiden staggered to his feet, blood dripping from his mouth, but his posture was still Alpha - chin high, shoulders squared, as if sheer arrogance could make up for the wounds tearing him apart.“You think you can stand against me, rogue?” Aiden spat, his words cracking with fury. “You’re nothing. A stray mutt gathering the broken and the weak. You’ll never be Alpha. You’ll never be more than a thief playing king in the dirt.”A growl ripped from my chest, low and vicious. My wolf surged forward, demanding blood.I circled him, shoulders rolled forward, ready to tear him apart. “Better a king of rogues than an Alpha who chains his pack with fear,” I snapped back. “Better be a man who protects than the one who throws his mate away when she doesn’t match to his perfect life .”His face twisted. That hit where I wanted.“You don’t know what she is,” he spat. "Oh. I know exactly what she is. My mate. And that is enough for me." I snapped back and I lunged. Our bodies collided

Damon’s POVThe air split with a snarl as Aiden lunged.Claws caught my shoulder before I twisted, the sting sharp but shallow. My wolf roared, surging up, dragging me half into the shift. Bones cracked, fur tearing through skin, but I held to that edge - stronger, faster, not fully beast, not fully man.Aiden came again, all brute force. I met him head-on. Our bodies collided like thunder, the impact rattling through the clearing.Around us, the Moonclaw wolves formed a ring, hungry eyes gleaming, breath misting the night. My own warriors bristled, teeth bared, but a sharp signal from me kept them back. This wasn’t their fight. This was Alpha against Alpha.Fists, claws, teeth - we tore into each other like storm and fire. Aiden’s strength was raw, honed by years of ruling with an iron hand. His blows landed heavy, driving me back a step, then another. But I’d spent years fighting to survive when no one thought I would. I’d learned to bleed and keep moving. And I had something he’d n

Damon’s POVThe air smelled of blood before we even reached the outpost. It clung to the trees, iron-thick and metallic, making my wolf’s hackles rise. Every step of our approach deepened the growl in my chest until it was a constant rumble. My warriors shifted restlessly behind me, catching the same scent, their wolves pressing against their skin in agitation. The forest was too quiet - the kind of silence that screamed ambush.Beside me, Rayna walked tall, her chin high, her eyes glowing faintly in the twilight. She wasn’t the same woman I’d dragged out of the Moonclaw woods weeks ago. Something burned inside her now - hotter, brighter, wilder. Even her silence carried weight. And it made me both proud and feral, because every wolf within a hundred miles would feel it too.“Outpost is ahead,” Kael murmured, striding up at my left. Her arm was still bandaged from the last fight, but her sword-hand didn’t tremble. She gestured to the ridge cresting above us. “Smoke trails just over th

Damon POVThe bond was still burning in my chest when the scout’s words sank in. Moonclaw.I tasted blood in the back of my throat from how hard my wolf snapped at the name. My hands curled into fists, nails biting into my palms until the skin broke. The rogues’ outpost wasn’t just a place - it was a promise, a fragile foothold of survival. Now it was ash and corpses. And Rayna - my Rayna - looked at me with that wild light in her eyes, fire and defiance sparking in her veins. My wolf snarled, torn between worshipping that strength and locking her away where nothing could touch her.Not yet. Not when Moonclaw was moving.I turned sharply to the scout. “How far?”“Two hours’ ride, Alpha. Maybe less if we cut through the ridge.”I nodded once. My voice came out clipped, cold, the voice I only used in war. “Gather every able fighter. Send word to the other outposts - we tighten the circle. No one alone. Not for a breath.”The boy dipped his head and sprinted into the trees, relieved to b
