I place my pack on the ground and pull out a small LED flashlight that Jon gave me. I use it briefly to find my way to the worn path and keep it pointed down towards the ground to keep it from being too easily seen. To my relief I come across the first cabin within an hour of walking. I slip inside and lock the door behind me. Using the flashlight I locate the box of matches and light the oil lantern left on the counter. I use the small flame to warm my hands as my teeth chatter. The temperature outside has dropped fiercely and I now curse the fact that I don’t have a television or phone that can tell me the weather. Just because it’s supposed to be spring doesn’t mean it won’t snow. I light the gas stove next, letting it burn as I fill the kettle. I place it silently on the flame as I find several packs of hot chocolate and a mug. I remove it from the flame before it whistles and make myself a drink, enjoying the simple pleasure of something sweet and warming at the same time. I loo
“Alpha Charles Redmen lost my loyalty a long time ago. Alpha Andre has been back for several months and while I grew up around him, just like the rumors around the other two male children, I didn’t know him enough to trust him. He’s worked hard since December to choose an elite team, one that he believes will help him in his end goal.” “To free Cole Redmen.” I can tell that Jason’s voice is in awe as he starts to realize his true mission. “The only reason he would put you with my group is if you are willing to vow loyalty to him over his father. I must know where your loyalty lies.” “Ever since I went through sex education classes where the teachers explained that rape is acceptable when permission is granted by Alpha Redmen I’ve had an issue with him. I’m not as stupid as I act and I think Alpha Andre saw through that.” “If that’s true, it would explain why you were a last minute add on to my group. Andre emphasized that my group needed to lead Operation Underground the third tim
“I’m sorry if it’s awkward but Andre believes that positive touch and interaction will help you to trust us so I’m going to help you with this treatment. Your breathing sounds very painful. I’m going to move this pillow and get behind you. Hopefully leaning against me isn’t too uncomfortable considering I’m the same height as you.” He hands me the mask and turns on the machine before climbing into the bed with me. I would really prefer that he stay away from me but I don’t see where I’m in a position to refuse. I stiffen as he gets behind me, surprised when his first touch is to the hand holding the mask. “Bring it to your face, Cole. You saw me put the medication in there.” He tries to calm my fears while using gentle pressure to bring the mask to my face. I fight briefly before the fight for oxygen simply exhausts my energy. He pulls the strap around my head, letting it go without it snapping. He resorts to holding my hands in front of me as I’ve tried several times to remove the
12amI start stirring about as the sizzle of bacon frying hits my nose. It’s been a long time since I’ve been treated to a luxury such as freshly fried bacon. I take my time becoming slowly aware of what’s around me. Mason took great care after I fell asleep to position me on my side. It takes a good minute for me to discover that his Sherpa lined coat is beneath my head, the collar positioned perfectly so that I can easily catch his scent as I sleep. “Why didn’t you tell him it was me?” I instantly regret saying it as I look around the small cottage for Jason. “Don’t worry Cole. Jason shifted and is going to do a quick twenty minute patrol to verify that Alpha Redmen is sticking to his word. He’ll be back in fifteen.” I relax a little only for his statement to hit me hard. “What do you mean stick to his word?” I can’t contain the panic lacing my voice. “Calm, easy breaths Cole. It’s all a part of the plan. As crazy as it was for you to attempt to run during a blizzard, your bro
When Andre’s crew had me filled with so much hope, how, goddess, does it go so damn wrong….Tuesday, April 2ndThe rest of my travels went well and despite the shitty weather, we made it to the Red Moon cabin in the early morning of the 30th. Mason stayed with me until Alpha Redmen called everyone back from patrol. Jason was right after all, it was crazy to think he’d leave such a large team of warriors and guardsmen out in such weather. I was asleep when Mason left. He gave me the courtesy I have seldom received both while he was here and when he left. I found a well written note left on the counter when I woke up around 2pm on the 31st. He explained that Alpha Redmen called his team back to the pack house for his usual lunch debriefing before they’re allowed to return home. He had sincerely hoped to stay with me until Andre came to get me but he did at least explain that Andre did link with him, that he had made contact with Alpha Julian of the Red Moon pack and that I would be ent
I sit myself up and lean myself against the wall, closing my eyes, forcing myself to relax. I haven’t had access to anything I need in several days and the last thing that needs to start is my asthma. I peak out of the slats on the door verifying that everyone is asleep. I can hear Kristoph’s snore giving me a little confidence to at least get out of this cabin and into another. I open the closet door slowly, praying that it doesn’t squeak. I crawl out with great care once it’s opened enough to let me, before I gently close it again. While I’m not foolish enough to believe that he’s completely missed the fact that I’m there, I don’t want to give him a reason to come looking for me if his sex crazed orgy gave me such luck. I crawl to the door and I’m surprised to see my boots still sitting at the door. I stand with as little sound as possible, slip my feet into the boots, and slowly ease myself out into the cold. I look around, quickly gathering my bearings and head straight into the
(Andre’s POV)“I’m so sorry Andre. Someone followed him into the buffer zone. After I introduced myself I could smell another wolf nearby and the wolf that I believe was your brother Cole, darted into the woods. By the time I called for reinforcements and my trackers caught his scent, he had been removed from the cave. The other wolf must have gotten to him and brought him back as my trackers were able to trace his blood back to the footbridge. It was different from the way he got to the cave so we know it was a second trail. Whoever came after him, wanted him as badly as Cole wanted away from him.” I can’t believe my ears but hold my tongue. I have no doubts that dad told Kristoph to head over to the Red Moon cabin as I made the mistake of telling him that I needed to stay several nights there. No matter how much I insisted on needing to go out, that I needed to clear my head after discovering the truth behind Sasha’s infidelity, he maintained the need for me to train. I learned a
I walk in without hesitation. I know exactly what I’m in for and what he wants. I kick my shoes and pants off at the door before walking over to the filing cabinet. The top drawer holds a small piece of leather that he offers some of us to bite on. I walk up to my father, looking him briefly in the eyes before training them to the ground. “You know the penalty for interrupting physical punishment.” “My age plus five with the buckle.” I state monotonously. “The buckle will be first.” It’s the only exchange of words we have before I place the leather piece in my mouth, push my boxers to my feet and lay my chest across his desk. I cross my arms above me, wrapping my hands around them just below the elbow and lying my forehead on top. The first hit steals my breath away as he hits my back instead of my ass. He continues quickly towards my head until he reaches the middle of my ribs. My body starts to shake as I’ve taken five hits to this same location before he trails back to where h
