Chapter 3

Author: oiiiai
Ethan's comment completely set Julia off.

"You ungrateful jerk!" She snapped her hand forward. "Get him! If he doesn't know his place, teach him! Hold them both here. Nobody's leaving until this livestream is finished!"

Her two bodyguards charged in at once, one from each side, reaching to grab Ethan.

"Stop!"

Kylie suddenly rushed out, throwing herself in front of us with her arms spread wide, tears trembling in her eyes.

"Julia, please, just let it go! They don't look like ordinary people. If this turns into something serious…"

Smack!

Julia swung her hand and slapped Kylie hard across the face.

"You traitor! I pay you to work for me, not tell me what to do! Get out of my way!"

Kylie hit the ground, a streak of blood at the corner of her mouth. She clutched her cheek but still cried out to us, "Run! You can't win against her!"

That slap lit a fire in me. I joked around a lot, but I couldn't stand seeing someone pick on the weak.

Not right in front of me.

Ethan's expression changed completely. He calmly undid his cufflinks and rolled his sleeves up to his elbows, revealing lean, solid forearms.

"Juliet." He glanced at me, his voice quiet in a way that made the air feel heavy. "Step back."

I knew someone was about to regret their life choices.

"Ethan, just don't kill them. Leave them breathing so Dad can deal with it." I stepped back two paces and helped Kylie up from the ground.

The two bodyguards didn't take Ethan seriously at all. They grinned and lunged at him.

The next second, two dull impacts rang out.

Thud, thud!

No one even saw how Ethan moved. The two six-foot-three brutes flew backward, crashing into a trash can by the curb and staying down, unable to get back up.

Ethan dusted off imaginary dust from his sleeve, then walked toward Julia one step at a time. He looked down at her, his gaze cold and distant, as if she were nothing.

"You said you were going to teach me a lesson?"

Julia scrambled back in panic. Her heel twisted, and she dropped hard onto the ground.

"D-Don't come any closer! Someone help!" she screamed into the camera, her voice breaking. "Call the police! This lunatic is trying to kill me!"

The livestream chat went wild; people were stunned by what they had just seen. Some cheered, and some called him violent. The screen was a complete mess.

Ethan crouched down and grabbed Julia's chin with his fingers, forcing her to look up at him.

"How about I teach you the Stones' rules instead?"

His voice was cold as ice.

"No one gives me orders except my sister. And one more thing."

He let go of her face with obvious disgust, pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his hand, then tossed it onto her face.

"Pretending to be a Stone… You really think you can get away with that?"

Julia trembled under his presence, tears and snot running together as her carefully done makeup smeared into a mess, leaving her looking ridiculous.

Even so, she was a seasoned influencer. She wasn't easily rattled.

After that brief flash of fear, she realized this was the perfect chance to play the victim.

She collapsed onto the ground and cried toward the camera.

"I can't take this anymore! I was just trying to make good content! I'm the Stone heiress. I've been spoiled my whole life. I've never been treated like this! Just because you can fight doesn't mean you get to bully a woman! I'm going to have my dad blacklist you! I'll make sure the entire internet blacklists you!"

Just like that, the whole vibe flipped.Half an hour later, we ended up at a packed little seafood shack in Avensville.Arnold, worth trillions and dressed like he had just stepped out of a boardroom, sat stiffly at a worn-down table, fumbling with disposable gloves, already sweating as he tried to crack into a pile of crab legs.Meanwhile, Ethan, the so-called devil of Avensville, sat there stone-faced, using the same pen he signed billion-dollar deals with to check off items on the menu. "Throw in an order of grilled shrimp. Make it spicy."I pulled out my phone and started a new livestream. The caption was, "Dinner with the Richest Family in Avensville.""Come on, sweetheart. Open up. That's it…" my father said, smiling as he fed me a piece of crab leg. "You won't find better Cajun seasoning than this."I chewed and spoke to the camera, a little muffled, "You guys see this? This is the real Arnold Stone. What you saw earlier is just how he gets when he's angry. This is what

The farce had run its course.Right on cue, the sound of police sirens cut through the air.Laurel was facing multiple charges, including large-scale fraud, theft, public disturbance, and defamation. What waited for her was the full weight of the law.The moment the cold handcuffs snapped onto her wrists, fear finally set in."Ms. Stone, please! I'm begging you, let me go!" Tears and snot streamed down her face as she tried to grab my pant leg. "Just let me go. I swear I won't ever do this again. I'll apologize! I'll do whatever you want!"I stepped back, avoiding her dirty hands."Let you go?" I let out a cold laugh. "When you were telling Ethan to clean your shoes, did you think about letting him go? When you hit your assistant, did you think about letting her go?"Ethan walked over and looked down at her, his tone flat, like he was talking about the weather."Stone Corporation's legal team has taken over this case. We'll be pushing for the maximum sentence. Also, every dolla

Laurel was still dazed from the kick. She lay on the ground for a long time before she came back to herself. The moment my father's words sank in, she completely fell apart."N-No, that can't be right… You paid for my school… You gave me gifts…" she cried, her words tumbling over each other as she tried to grab onto anything that made sense. "Mom! Mom, come out and say something!""Stop yelling. Your mom's already here." Ethan gave a small, cold wave. Two guards dragged over a middle-aged woman in a janitor's uniform.Pamela.The second she saw the scene, especially Arnold's furious expression, her legs gave out, and she collapsed."Mr. Arnold, Mr. Ethan, Ms. Stone, I'm so sorry!"She sobbed uncontrollably. "I failed as a mother. I got greedy. I shouldn't have taken things Ms. Stone didn't want and brought them home. I never imagined this stupid girl would go this far and pretend to be the Stone heiress online!"Laurel stared at her mother in disbelief. "Mom! What are you sa

Laurel was still refusing to back down. She knew the moment she admitted she was a fraud, her life would be over."That's hacking! You hacked the mall screen! I don't believe you. I want to see my dad. I want to see my dad, Arnold Stone!" She screamed like she had lost her mind. "He's on his way right now! When he gets here, you're all dead!""Who wants to see me?"A firm, steady voice cut through the crowd, edged with anger. The crowd parted on its own.By the lead Rolls-Royce, a middle-aged man in a fitted suit strode forward. It was my father, the richest man in Avensville. He was usually all smiles, but right now, he carried a sharp, suffocating presence. A line of black-clad bodyguards followed behind him, the pressure they gave off making it hard to breathe. The moment Laurel saw him, her eyes lit up as if she had just found her last lifeline. She had fallen so deep into her act that she really thought she was his spoiled daughter. Crying, she rushed forward. "Dad! You'r

The moment Bob said that, it was as if someone had hit the mute button. The same people who had been yelling about calling the cops now stood there with their mouths wide open. The livestream froze for a few seconds before the screen filled with question marks.[What the heck?][Did I hear that right? Did that man just called them Mr. Stone and Ms. Stone?][That's Arnold Stone's chief secretary. He's always on financial news. No way he's an actor!]Julia's face drained of all color, turning pale. She stared at Bob like her eyes were about to pop out."N-No way…"She rushed forward, trying to grab his sleeve, but one of the guards shoved her aside. She hit the ground hard, face-first."You're an actor! Yeah, that's it. You're definitely an actor they hired!"Her hair was a mess as she pointed at Bob, screaming hysterically. "I've seen Bob on TV. You must've had surgery to look like him! You're all part of some scam. I'm going to expose you!"She scrambled up and shoved her f

Still crying, Julia reached into her Hermès bag and pulled out an elegant velvet box."Take a good look! My dad bought this for me at an auction in Enthropia last week. It's a blue diamond necklace called the Heart of the Ocean, worth ten million dollars. There's only one in the entire world!"She held the necklace up to the camera. The deep blue gem caught the light and flashed brilliantly."Have you two losers ever seen something like this? Ever touched it? You could work your whole lives and still never afford a stone like this! That's the gap between us. We're not even in the same world!"A wave of shock rippled through the comments.[Oh my god! That looks real…][The craftsmanship, the shine… That's definitely authentic.][Is she really the Stone heiress? If she is, those two are done for…]The tide of opinion started to shift again.I looked at the necklace and couldn't help laughing. If I remembered right, I had tossed that thing into the corner of my closet last month
