Chapter 4

Author: Wild Peter
When I turned, Celine was suddenly there.

I sneered. "Eavesdropping, Celine? Not exactly a noble habit. And here I thought you were too weak to even stand on your own."

"I... I saw you hadn't come back for a while, and I got worried, so I..." Her voice trembled as tears welled up. Then she tilted sideways and collapsed dramatically into Caesar's arms.

He looked down at her with pure concern, eyes soft with affection. Watching them pressed together again, I felt something inside me snap.

I stepped forward and yanked her back—not hard, but enough. Still, she fell to the ground as if I'd thrown her. A small cry escaped her lips, and tears streamed down her face.

Caesar's fury was instant. "What the hell are you doing?"

He shoved me away, pulling her up protectively. I stumbled, hitting the corner of the table hard enough to make my ribs ache.

I forced myself upright and swung my hand at Celine.

She screamed, "Are you insane?!"

I didn't answer. My expression stayed cold as I lifted my hand again, deliberately slowing the motion, giving Caesar time to react.

He did. He stepped between us.

My palm cracked across his face.

The red mark bloomed instantly on his cheek—the great Alpha, struck by an omega. His pride took the blow worse than his skin did.

His expression darkened like a storm. "Don't forget, I gave you the Luna title." His voice turned to a growl. "And I can take it back."

I smiled faintly. "You couldn't go against Miron back then. What makes you think you can now?"

Then I pulled out the scroll I'd been keeping for this very moment. "How about it, Caesar? Do you dare?"

I'd sought out a witch and prepared the bond severance scroll long ago—ever since I first saw the way he looked at Celine.

Her eyes filled with tears again, her lips trembling. "I'm sorry..."

That word hit him harder than my slap. It brought back the memory of her leaving him years ago—because he hadn't been able to defy Miron and claim her as Luna.

Caesar's face turned black with anger. Nearly shaking with rage, he snatched the pen and signed on the scroll. "You'll regret this."

Done.

The pain of the mate bond severing tore through me like fire. My body went cold, my breath caught. Caesar's face went pale too—we both felt it.

But I didn't flinch. That kind of pain was nothing new. I'd felt it long ago, the first time I realized how deeply he'd betrayed me.

Celine fought to hide her smile, her voice quivering in mock sorrow. "Rena... why can't you just trust Caesar?"

I looked at her blankly. "Doesn't matter. He's yours now."

My purpose was complete. I didn't need to keep acting anymore.

Caesar studied my calm face, something uneasy flickering behind his eyes. He stepped forward, lips parting as if to speak, but no words came out.

I didn't notice. I just turned away, wearing the same wounded expression I'd perfected over the years, and walked back to the villa.

'Once the mate bond is dissolved, you're no longer his Luna,' my wolf whispered.

"Exactly," I murmured. "He can't sense me anymore."

I gave one last look at the villa. "Now I can die in peace."

I'd already dismissed all the servants.

When one of them finally went to Caesar, he was sitting by Celine's bedside, reading her a bedtime story.

"Alpha," the servant stammered, "the Luna... she looked so sad. She dismissed everyone from the villa—"

"She's just throwing another tantrum," Caesar interrupted, annoyance sharp in his voice.

"But Alpha, the Luna, she seems—"

He waved the werewolf off. "Enough. I don't want to hear it."

Celine reached out to him, her tone soft and full of concern. "Maybe you should go to her. I think she really misunderstands us."

Caesar sighed. "She's always been like this—spoiled, arrogant, playing the Luna as if the world revolves around her. Not like you... you're gentle and understanding."

Celine's eyes glinted as she smiled faintly. "Let's not talk about unpleasant things. I want you..."

Caesar's expression softened. The warmth between them returned, drowning out the rest of the world.

Outside, werewolves ran back and forth, knocking on the door. Each time, Caesar ordered them away until finally, Celine fell asleep.

He closed the door quietly, irritation creeping back into his tone. "What is it now? Did Rena change her mind? Tell her this time, I won't—"

"Alpha!" the servant burst out, voice shaking. "The villa's on fire! The Luna's trapped inside!"

Caesar's Side StoryCaesar fell ill the day the fire burned the villa to the ground. There had been a pain in his chest ever since. The flames had reduced everything to ash, leaving nothing behind. Not even Rena's bones. Nothing at all.He remembered how much she had loved that villa. So he poured every ounce of the pack's power and wealth into rebuilding it, stone by stone, as if resurrecting it could bring her back. The idea met fierce resistance—from his uncle Miron, from the elders, even from Celine."Caesar," Celine said, her voice trembling with grief, "you promised me. You said we would mark me. Are you going back on your word now?"A fragile Omega, pleading for the Alpha's affection—most werewolves would have softened. But her words cut straight through him.He tore his arm from her grasp, his voice cold as steel. "No. My Luna is Rena—and only Rena."Celine's sorrow twisted into rage. "She's dead! Why are you still pretending to be so devoted? You think rebuilding that

Everything had been a lie.I opened my mouth, tried to force out a single word—never—but it caught in my throat again and again. I couldn't do it. I couldn't lie to myself."At first," I said, "I was happy. Miron took me in and told me that my mate would be the next Alpha."Back then, Caesar had been handsome and commanding, yet polite and refined. I could never tell if it was our mate bond or something else, but my eyes always sought him out.He treated me well—patiently teaching me etiquette I was too clumsy to grasp, smiling as he held me close during gatherings, introducing me proudly to every guest.Every Omega in the pack envied me. I was destined to have the most striking, powerful mate of them all.I looked at Caesar now, seeing the reflection of my younger self in his eyes. "I was so happy to be your Luna. For you, I threw myself into endless practice—learning manners, cooking, anything—just to hear someone say I was worthy of you.""My hands and feet blistered from e

Tand's face darkened. "Who gave you permission to interrupt me? Get out and take your punishment!"The air shifted. Even without raising his voice, authority rolled off him in waves—pure Alpha dominance.I curved my lips into a small, knowing smile. Tand was doing it on purpose. Showing off his power right in front of Caesar."Rena," Tand said softly, warmth replacing the steel in his tone. He leaned forward, brushing his lips across the back of my hand. "I'll wait for you outside."I didn't refuse. I just patted his shoulder lightly.By the time I turned, Caesar was already standing there, his expression dark as a storm cloud, hands clenched into fists. But when his gaze landed on me—on the weakness in my face—he froze. His voice came out so gentle it almost startled me, careful and quiet, like he thought I might break. "Rena… are you all right?""I'm fine," I said evenly. "What are you doing here?"He faltered at the chill in my tone, searching for words before forcing them o

After three years apart, Caesar looked nothing like the proud Alpha I once knew. He was thinner, worn down—his body covered in dirt, his clothes torn and bloodied. Yet the bundle of wolf's tail flowers in his arms was spotless, as if he'd washed each one by hand.He caught me staring and shifted awkwardly, brushing at the grime on his chest. "Sorry. The cliffs there were steeper than I remembered. I was careful—after all, you fell there once—but still ended up like this."I didn't answer, just shook my head. I knew those cliffs well. I'd broken my leg there once just to pick a single bloom. For him to bring back an entire bundle meant he'd suffered far more than he let on.Then Caesar's gaze landed on the flowers Tand had brought me. His expression darkened immediately. He strode up to me, gripping my hand hard. "Rena, I… I picked your favorite wolf's tail flowers."I smiled faintly, plucked the brightest bloom from the bunch, and tossed it to the ground. "Thank you. But I don't

Miron was never a werewolf of pure intentions. His so-called "support" for Caesar was nothing more than a way to control him.The moment he made me hide our financial dealings, I knew he didn't trust me.If my act of devotion ever touched Caesar, Miron could easily expose me, tell him I was only in it for the money. And if my act failed to move him, then Caesar would have passed the test—proving himself a qualified Alpha with no weakness to exploit. As for Celine… there was no way Miron would allow Caesar to be so consumed by an Omega. She was likely his backup plan. But all that was just speculation. And besides, Caesar's heart had long belonged to Celine. None of it had anything to do with me anymore."Miss Rena, Mr. Tand is here again," one of the maids whispered with a teasing smile. Her tone made that "again" sound deliberate, her look full of quiet amusement.I sighed. "Let him in.""My dearest Rena! I brought you your favorite—"He came in with an armful of bags, his att

Caesar shifted into his wolf form and tore through the night, running full speed toward the villa. By the time he arrived, the place was already swallowed by flames. His eyes burned red. "Where's Rena?!"The servants trembled under his Alpha aura, their voices shaking. "We… we don't know."Their words said one thing, but their eyes flickered toward the fire.Rage surged through Caesar. He grabbed one by the collar and threw him aside. His expression darkened, monstrous. "Then tell me—how did this fire start? Did anyone see the Luna come out?!"The servants all fell to their knees, pale and terrified. "Alpha, please forgive us. The Luna returned heartbroken that night. She dismissed everyone from the villa. No one saw her come out. She's most likely…"Caesar's fury burst like a storm, his Alpha dominance filling the air. "Useless! All of you! How could you leave the Luna alone in there?!"The butler's voice shook. "It was her command, Alpha. We tried to report it to you, but yo
