Chapter 4

Penulis: Cocoa Pudding
Since this bridge was under maintenance, all vehicles were prohibited from entering.

When we arrived, Alyssa had already climbed onto the tall steel framework. Her body swayed precariously in the fierce wind.

“It’s dangerous!” My brothers shouted anxiously, “Alyssa, come back!”

Alyssa turned her head. Tears slid down her face. “Brother… Elio… I really can’t bear to leave you. But Luna can’t tolerate me. I’m dying anyway, so I might as well leave early. At least Luna will be happy.”

The four men immediately turned to glare at me, and Elio shoved me forward hard.

“Hurry up! Go convince Alyssa to come back!”

I calmly looked at the person who had caused this farce and said nothing.

Marcus roared, “Are you really trying to force her to death?”

Right on cue, Alyssa began to cry even harder. She deliberately slowed her movements as she turned around, pretending she was about to jump.

“No!”

The four men lunged forward in panic and grabbed her at the same time.

After pulling her back, Alyssa collapsed into their arms, crying uncontrollably.

Elio held her tightly. The voice of this cold-blooded mafia don was now unbelievably gentle. “It’s okay… Don’t be afraid. We’re here.”

My brothers patted her back softly, comforting her in low voices. “Don’t cry, Alyssa. We won’t let anything happen to you.”

After crying for a long while, Alyssa suddenly struggled again.

“No, I deserve to die! Let me die! Luna hates me so much. Being alive only makes people dislike me…”

As she spoke, she rushed toward the edge of the bridge again.

The four men immediately stopped her.

Jonah turned around and shouted at me furiously, “Look at what you’ve done! Are you determined to force your sister to death?”

Sam held Alyssa in his arms, patiently coaxing her. “We’ll all protect you. Don’t be afraid. No one can make you leave.”

They were terrified that Alyssa would try to kill herself again.

Faced with this scene, all I could do was sneer inwardly.

It wasn’t the first time Alyssa had used suicide to gain sympathy, and every single time, they fell for it.

While they were still entangled, Marcus’s anger surged.

He ordered, “Men, hang Luna outside the steel frame to reflect on herself! She stays there until she understands what she did wrong.”

Hearing this, Alyssa avoided the men’s gazes and shot me a victorious smile.

I knew what she was telling me. “Luna, you’ll never win against me.”

Following orders, the soldati tightly bound me with thick ropes and suspended me outside the steel framework of the bridge.

The weight of my body made the rope dig deep into my flesh, yet I didn’t even frown.

Before leaving, Elio glanced back once. His gaze trembled for a brief moment.

However, Alyssa conveniently fainted at that instant. He immediately panicked, scooped her into his arms, and left without looking back.

Just like every previous accident, all the soldati left with them, and I was left alone on the bridge.

The wind howled. The swaying rope rubbed my wrists until they were torn and bloody.

My phone vibrated, but I had no way to check it.

I began twisting my wrists desperately, forcing the rope to loosen bit by bit. Blood flowed along the rope, unexpectedly acting as lubrication.

Finally, when the rope loosened enough, I flipped my body, used all my strength to grab the steel frame, and slowly climbed back inside.

Trembling, I took out my phone and saw the message.

[All transactional procedures for your private island have been completed. You may move in at any time.]

I smiled.

Looking at the rope dangling outside the steel frame, a thought surfaced.

Since I was leaving anyway, I might as well let them think I was dead.

I couldn’t compete with Alyssa, but the living could never compete with the dead.

With that thought, I immediately threw my jacket onto the steel frame, then cut the rope and tossed it down.

The drifting jacket looked exactly like a final farewell from someone who had fallen into the sea.

“Goodbye,” I whispered to the foolish version of myself who once loved them so deeply.

Leaving the bridge behind, I got into a taxi.

“To the airport.”

From now on, I will keep all my love for myself.

My unbearable past had held me back, making me afraid to move forward.I could feel Keanu’s concern, the unspoken emotions in his every gesture. However, my memories made me fearful that his care was only temporary and could vanish at any moment.Keanu cupped my face in his hands, kissed away my tears, and gently pulled me into his arms.“It’s all over now. I’m not them. Trust me.”In the days that followed, the four men never appeared again. Yet gifts kept arriving, one after another. There were countless envelopes, which I never once opened.Seeing me throw them away repeatedly, Keanu couldn’t help but laugh.“The deals here are done.“Come with me to New York, Luna.”I paused and looked at him seriously. “Keanu, you really don’t mind my past?”His eyes were firm. “I only feel for you. I wish I had met you sooner.“Luna, I fell for you the first moment I saw you. Over time, your gentleness and melancholy have only deepened my love.“Come with me. Give me a chance to

Keanu chuckled lightly. “Wife? Who would believe that? You just tried to kidnap her.”I nodded repeatedly. “Exactly. He and I are strangers.”Keanu looked at me reassuringly, then spoke calmly to Elio. “Did you hear that? She doesn’t want to go with you. Stop pestering her.“I don’t know who you are, but opposing the Solazzos won’t get you anywhere.”At those words, Elio’s expression shifted. He looked warily at Keanu before finally taking a step back.Keanu guided me away safely. Only when Elio was out of sight did he release my hand.“Sorry, I acted impulsively.”“It’s okay. I’m grateful for what you did.”He helped me onto a yacht. The lake was beautiful and tranquil, yet I couldn’t relax.“You know, if saying it out loud helps you, I’m all ears.”He watched me calmly. I opened my mouth but couldn’t find the words.Keanu stayed quietly by my side until the sun set and the boat returned to shore. Then he brought a bouquet of larkspur. “The shop said this flower’s meanin

After leaving the island, I began traveling everywhere.Recently, I arrived in a city where it felt like spring all year round. The blooming flowers caught my eye, and I paused to take photos.“Luna!”Hearing my name, I immediately turned in confusion. The distant, blurry figure turned out to be Elio. With his appearance, the painful memories surged again. I frowned, unable to understand why he would show up here.Without a word, I instinctively turned and ran. However, no matter how fast I ran, I couldn’t shake him off. He reached out and grabbed my arm.“Luna, it’s really you! You’re not dead!”His eyes were red, his wrist trembling from excitement, but all I wanted was to break free.“Let go of me!”“No, I won’t!” He pulled me into his arms, panicked and nearly incoherent. “All this time, I’ve… I’ve dreamed of you. I knew you weren’t dead!”“We know about what Alyssa has done. Every cruel thing she did to you, I made her pay tenfold.“I’m sorry! Marrying her was only

Luna’s POV.Without realizing it, several months had already passed since I began living on the island.Aside from the supply ship that arrived at fixed intervals, there were no traces of human life here. The sea breeze slowly carried away the sorrowful memories of the first half of my life.Gradually, the resentment and grievances faded, leaving only peace. After a typhoon passed and the skies cleared, I found myself in unusually good spirits and wandered leisurely along the coastline. However, I hadn’t gone far when a figure on the beach caught my attention. It was a man soaked through, injured, and bleeding. He must have been washed ashore by the storm.I crouched down and was about to check his breathing.“Help… help me.”After saying that, he completely lost consciousness.A life was still a life. So, I carried him back to my place on the island.I fed him anti-inflammatory medicine and performed some rough first aid to stop the bleeding. By the afternoon of the next d

Alyssa stood up, wiped away her tears, and met his gaze again. Now, only hatred and mockery remained in her eyes.“Elio, you say I’m vicious. What about you?“Five years ago, I ran away from the wedding, and you immediately married Luna instead. Dare you say you didn’t treat her as a substitute?“You two have lived together for five years, yet you never registered the marriage with her. But for one so-called wish of mine, you immediately got the license with me. Is that how deeply you loved her?“The anger you feel now isn’t because you loved her. It’s because you can’t accept being deceived by a woman like me. You’re the most hypocritical and selfish one here. You’re the disgusting one!”She then turned toward the three brothers.“You’re no better. Foolish men!“For over twenty years, do you really not know what I did to Luna? Did you truly not notice, or did you simply not want to know? You know the answer yourselves.“You’re powerful mafia figures. My crude tricks wouldn’t h

Alyssa felt a surge of panic rise in her chest. She forced herself to stay calm. “I don’t blame you for what happened today. I knew you were just in a… Ah!”Elio slapped Alyssa hard, sending her to the floor.Half of her face swelled instantly. She stared at Elio in disbelief, tears flooding her eyes as she trembled and demanded, “You hit me? How could you hit me?”Elio didn’t explain. His fury only intensified as he grabbed her by the throat. “Alyssa, do you really have a brain tumor?”The question made the three brothers’ eyes widen in shock as they stared at Alyssa.Could it be that even her illness was a lie?Elio threw her back onto the floor and tossed a stack of documents at her. The sharp edge of the paper sliced her cheek, but no one stepped forward to care.“Read it! This is everything I had investigated just now. What else do you have to say?!”Marcus crouched down and picked up the scattered papers.“…No abnormalities found in the brain.”Holding the report, he l
