The black suitcase rolled quietly across the polished marble floor as Regina made her way toward the grand entrance of the Moretti mansion.

The house she had called home for three years no longer felt like hers.

She paused at the front door, taking one last look at the elegant staircase, the crystal chandelier, and the family portraits lining the walls.

Not a single picture included her.

She smiled sadly.

Perhaps she had never truly belonged there.

The elderly butler, Mr. Lorenzo, stepped forward with glistening eyes.

"Mrs. Moretti..."

Regina offered him a gentle smile.

"You don't have to call me that anymore."

His expression fell.

"I'm sorry."

She shook her head.

"You've always treated me with kindness. Thank you... for everything."

He lowered his head respectfully.

"You deserved better."

For the first time that morning, Regina felt tears threaten to fall.

She blinked them away.

"Please take care of yourself."

"And you, Miss Regina."

She nodded and walked through the massive front doors.

A cool morning breeze greeted her.

The taxi she had called waited outside the gates.

As the driver loaded her luggage into the trunk, Regina turned back toward the mansion one last time.

Three years.

Three years of hoping.

Three years of loving someone who had never loved her back.

She whispered quietly, "Goodbye."

Then she climbed into the car without looking back.

Across the city, Robin sat in his office overlooking the skyline.

Stacks of documents covered his desk, but his attention remained fixed on the divorce papers Regina had signed.

Everything had gone exactly as planned.

So why did he feel so restless?

His assistant knocked before entering.

"Mr. Moretti, your grandfather is here."

Robin frowned.

"My grandfather?"

Before he could stand, the office door swung open.

Giovanni Moretti entered with a stern expression, his silver cane striking the marble floor with each step.

"What have you done?"

Robin rose from his chair.

"Grandfather—"

"I asked you a question."

The older man's voice echoed through the office.

Robin remained composed.

"I ended a marriage that never should have happened."

Giovanni stared at him in disbelief.

"You divorced Regina?"

"Yes."

"On your anniversary?"

Robin said nothing.

The silence confirmed everything.

Giovanni closed his eyes briefly, as if trying to control his anger.

"Do you have any idea what kind of woman you've thrown away?"

Robin answered calmly.

"She deserves someone who can love her."

"And that someone isn't you?"

"No."

Giovanni slammed his cane against the floor.

"You fool!"

Robin rarely saw his grandfather lose his temper.

"She stood by you for three years."

No response.

"She defended this family."

Silence.

"She cared for your grandmother when she was ill."

Robin looked away.

"And this is how you repay her?"

Robin took a slow breath.

"It was kinder than pretending."

Giovanni shook his head.

"No, Robin."

His voice became quieter.

"It was easier."

The words lingered between them.

Robin remained expressionless, but something about his grandfather's disappointment unsettled him.

Giovanni walked toward the window.

"When your grandmother and I chose Regina, it wasn't because she came from money."

Robin frowned slightly.

"We chose her because she has a heart unlike anyone I've ever met."

Robin folded his arms.

"That doesn't mean we belonged together."

"No..."

Giovanni replied sadly.

"It means you never took the time to know your own wife."

The room fell silent.

Neither man noticed the phone vibrating on Giovanni's desk.

The screen displayed a familiar name.

Alessandro Romano.

Giovanni's expression changed.

He answered immediately.

"Alessandro."

A deep voice came through the speaker.

"I've just spoken with my granddaughter."

Robin looked up.

Granddaughter?

Giovanni glanced briefly at him.

"I'm sorry."

"So am I," Alessandro replied. "She's on her way home."

Robin frowned.

Home?

Something about the conversation caught his attention.

Giovanni's grip tightened on the phone.

"I never imagined things would end this way."

"Neither did I."

A brief silence followed.

Then Alessandro spoke again.

"From this moment forward..."

His tone became cold.

"...Regina Romano returns as the sole heiress of the Romano Empire."

Robin's head snapped toward his grandfather.

Romano?

The Romano family?

One of the wealthiest and most influential business dynasties in the world?

Giovanni slowly closed his eyes.

"So... you've finally decided."

"She has suffered enough pretending to be ordinary."

Robin's heartbeat quickened.

Ordinary?

His mind raced back over the past three years.

The expensive earrings she always wore.

Her perfect manners.

Her quiet confidence.

The way she never asked him for money.

The mysterious calls she sometimes took in private.

Pieces of a puzzle he had never bothered to solve.

Giovanni ended the call and slowly looked at his grandson.

"You wanted freedom."

Robin remained speechless.

"You've got it."

Then the old man turned and walked out of the office, leaving Robin standing alone.

For the first time since signing the divorce papers, doubt crept into Robin's heart.

Not because Regina was an heiress.

But because he had suddenly realized...

He had never truly known the woman he had married.
