Chapter 3

Autor: Little Hedgehog
To Sheryl's shock, Shawn accepted the plate of cake from me and took a big bite out of it.

She stared at him in disbelief before looking at me, her eyes darting rapidly between the two of us.

"Mr. Goldman—"

Shawn arched his brow and clapped me on the back. "It's good. Anyway, have fun."

He nodded at me before he took his leave.

Sheryl sighed in relief before turning to look at me. "You're lucky that Mr. Goldman's a gentleman. That's why he didn't lose his temper at you. Get out of here right now! You've already more than enough to humiliate us!"

Hunter burst into laughter. "Don't admonish him, Sheryl. He totally did that on purpose. Apparently, Mr. Goldman has certain 'hobbies'. He was just catering to Mr. Goldman's preferences."

The other guests immediately pinned me with strange looks.

"Is it true?"

"That's impossible! He looks like a pretty upstanding guy."

"Mr. Goldman must be desperate if he's willing to settle for someone like him."

A look of utter disdain crossed Sheryl's face.

"Why did I get engaged to someone like you, Felix? I'm calling off the engagement! I want to break up with you!" she said as she removed her ring and threw it at me.

I picked up the eight-carat diamond ring that I had meticulously designed myself. Creating the ring was the first time I had poured so much effort into something.

Meanwhile, the ring that I was wearing was identical to the one that Shawn wore. Our respective family crests were engraved on it. They looked similar, but there were some minuscule differences. However, there was no way that Sheryl and the others knew that.

I arched my brow at her and asked, "Are you sure?"

Hunter forced himself into our conversation, saying, "Of course she's sure! Although you managed to catch Mr. Goldman's attention through unscrupulous means, you're not going to get very far. After all, Mr. Goldman is getting married today. He'll discard you soon enough."

He then smugly wrapped his arm around Sheryl's waist, not even bothering to pretend that they weren't together anymore.

The guests began to whisper among themselves.

"I knew something was amiss when I saw him for the first time. He always showed up at Mr. Goldman's company."

"I can't believe that he shares that type of relationship with Mr. Goldman!"

"The bride is so unlucky."

I couldn't hold myself back anymore as their speculation became progressively more ridiculous.

"I don't care that you want to break up with me, Sheryl. But don't forget that we're in the Goldman family's territory now. If you badmouth Mr. Goldman, you're going to have to pay the consequences of your actions."

Sheryl scoffed. "What an arrogant thing to say. If the bride learns of your existence, you're the one who's going to get punished, no? Well, I'm interested to see just who has the guts to teach me a lesson for what I just said!"

The words had just left her lips when a voice boomed behind us.

"I do!"

Surprised gasps erupted all across the hall.

"Mr. Goldman is here!"

Sheryl was momentarily stunned. She immediately presented herself with a refined demeanor when she noticed Shawn and his bride, Katie Irwin, approaching us.

"You can't keep protecting him like this, Mr. Goldman. The others might not know about the nature of your relationship with him, but I can see it clearly with my own eyes!"

I couldn't help but snicker as Sheryl continued to blurt out her misassumptions.

"And what do you see exactly? Your own vision is tainted because you're no saint either."

"Are you still going to deny it, Felix?" Sheryl asked, raising her voice. "Our engagement was just a cover. That's why you never touched me. Furthermore, we've never worn couple rings, but you're obviously wearing the same one as Mr. Goldman. How are you going to explain that?

"Yet you dare to insist that there's nothing going on between the two of you. Your relationship with Mr. Goldman is so obvious, but I just don't want to say it aloud. I feel repulsed just thinking about it!

"Oh, by the way, I'm not talking about you, Mr. Goldman. My criticisms are all targeted at Felix. He's just too shameless!"

Shawn arched his brow and asked, "What exactly is the nature of my relationship with Felix? Why don't you enlighten me? After all, I have no idea what other scandalous relationship I could possibly have with my nephew except for a familial bond."

My bodyguards swarmed forward and pinned Sheryl to the ground. She spat out a mouthful of blood before screaming, "You'll die a horrible death, Felix! You dirty conman!""Did you know? The ring that you threw away was embedded with a family heirloom. I carved the diamond's design myself. It identifies the wearer as the daughter-in-law of the Luther family. You're the one who ruined your own glory!"Sheryl began wailing even louder upon hearing my words.I shook my head, not wanting to entertain her any longer.Sheryl had chosen her own path, and it had nothing to do with me anymore. We were like two parallel lines from the very beginning. I was the one who forcefully wanted to bring her to my side. I hoped that we could spend the rest of our lives together, but I had misjudged her.I could still hear Sheryl's cries in the distance even after she was taken away. She was imprisoned once more for intentionally trying to harm me.There were so many eyewitnesses, and she had also lef

Hunter had been utterly humiliated. He couldn't look anyone in the eye anymore and ended up moving back to his hometown.Later, I found out that Hunter had moved to the city after graduating high school. He started scheming after getting to know Sheryl and learning that she was the heiress of the Wilson family. The one thing he didn't anticipate was that Sheryl was already in a relationship with me at the time. He then devised all sorts of ways to curry favor with her, creating as many opportunities as possible for them to meet.Unfortunately, Sheryl fell for his schemes, and she had to pay for the consequences of her own choices.Three months later, Sheryl was released from prison. The first thing she did was seek me out.I was riding horses with my friends at the time.Sheryl disguised herself as a staff member and ran over to me, planting herself directly in my path.I was shocked by her sudden appearance, but I was able to pull on the horse's reins and stop it from ramming i

The Wilson family had many daughters, but I had chosen Sheryl out of all of them. I thought she had looked well-mannered at the time, but I wanted nothing more than to slap my past self for making such an abysmal choice.Sheryl's tone was dripping with smugness when she sent me a message."I know you're upset, Felix, but if we don't solve the issue today, I'm afraid your uncle will be affected. I'm sure you wouldn't want to see your family's stock prices plummet, no? Be good and marry me. If you don't, I'll expose even more of your dirty secrets to the world!"However, Sheryl seemed to have forgotten that the dirt I had on her far overshadowed whatever she had on me."Just you wait, Sheryl. I won't let this slide. Not only did you cheat on me, but you're a despicable woman who hates the poor and covets the rich. Have you forgotten that I have surveillance cameras set up in the house? I recorded every single wrong you committed against me."Sheryl immediately became furious. "Are y

Sheryl's dissatisfaction toward me grew as time passed. At the time, I had already thought about ending our relationship. However, I didn't want to be the one to bring it up. Just as I was struggling to come up with a way to end things, she started having an affair with Hunter—a development that caught me by complete surprise.I served myself a bowl of soup and took a sip.Sheryl's eyes were sparkling as she stared at me. "How does it taste?"I shook my head, saying, "It tastes horrible. How long has it been since you made breakfast, Sheryl? You can't even make a pot of soup. You're utterly useless."I slammed my spoon down on the table, causing Sheryl to jolt in surprise. She immediately began apologizing, saying, "I'll make another pot right now!""No need. My mornings are very precious. I don't have time to waste waiting for you to prepare another pot. You're just useless trash."Sheryl's eyes reddened in an instant. "I know that you're upset with me, but you're going overboa

I dragged Hunter back just as he was about to make a quick escape."Why are you running away? You have to eat the cake too. The two of you can show how much you love each other by sharing the burden together," I said. The color had drained from Hunter's face. "No. I don't have a relationship with her at all! Please have mercy on me!""Aren't the two of you already sharing a bed? Don't tell me that the photos you sent me were fake?"Sheryl felt utterly humiliated at that moment. "I was so wrong about you, Hunter. I won't let you off the hook if you don't eat these cakes!"She lowered her voice before continuing, "I might be no match for the Goldman family, but it'll be as easy as squashing an ant for me to deal with you."With that, Hunter had no choice but to join Sheryl. The two of them sat opposite each other, partially hidden by the stacks of cake slices that surrounded them. The guests began laughing when they laid eyes on the ridiculous scene.Sheryl was paying for the co

The color drained from Sheryl's face in an instant."W-What did you say?" she stammered. "Your nephew?"I stuffed one hand into my pants pocket and said, "Today's my uncle's wedding banquet, of course. I feel so embarrassed because of the commotion you caused today. Please see yourself out right now."Everyone immediately understood what was going on when I stood next to Shawn. We looked quite similar to each other, after all."There's a saying that a nephew tends to look like his uncle. I guess that there's some truth to it.""I knew that Mr. Luther was a good guy. As expected of someone whom Mr. Goldman personally nurtured. He really is in a league above everyone else.""I didn't believe Sheryl's lies for even a second, not when she acts so pompously."The guests' opinions immediately turned in my favor.I laughed as I watched a flurry of turbulent emotions flash across Sheryl's face. She probably never considered that knowing how to speak appropriately in different circumsta
