Ashley

Peace reigned in the days leading up my coronation.

Yes, coronation. What I had initially seen as merely a joining with Zane, also meant my joining with the Lycan Tribe officially. Once I took up the mantle of Queen, every other tie I had with Moonlit Silver pack would be completely broken.

Every time the feeling of unease tried to creep up on me, I would squish it underneath my heel and refocus. Thoughs were powerful, and if I truly wanted to enjoy the season, I had to do so completely, and without fear.

I had to be courageous.

On the morning of my marriage and coronation, two servants had been assigned to get me ready for it all. One specialised in preparing my body for all that the ceremony would entail, from bathing me, to prepping my skin with the finest fragrances and creams.

The other worked on my hair and makeup, filling in my lips with the reddest lip stain I'd ever set eyes upon, and piling my hair so elegantly out of my face that my neck shone as graceful as a swa

Ashley The next and final meeting with the representatives came all too soon. I still didn't feel ready for it, but it was necessary if I really wanted to be with Zane without any objections from the Lycan Tribe. An odd tension still hung in the air, which we owed to the fresh death that occurred right in that very room.Jacinta, who now sat in the chair belonging to her father, went straight for the bull’s horns. “We got reports that you were attacked at night.”Hands on my neck, choking me to death…The memory gripped me like a vise, sucking the strength out of my bones. Pulling me lower and lower into an abyss…“Yes, I was,” I replied simply, curling my hands into fists so that no one could see how terribly my fingers trembled.“And where is that person now?”“Dead.”She lifted a brow, looking a little surprised to hear that. “By your hands?”“You make it sound like I wasn't merely trying to defend myself. If I didn't stop him, I would have died,” I said gently, wishing that Zane w

JaceFour weeks of silence. Four weeks of painstaking work to get myself back in shape. Four weeks of having to depend on others for basic things.Torture.Lucas was away on business, carrying out the plans I had given him, and I could see his progress. Word traveled fast among us werewolves, and it was very clear that the Lycans’ discord had become even more pronounced in recent times. Music to my ears. When I finished with them, they would all understand what it meant to know only pain. Carina remained by my side, hanging on to my sleeves like a defenseless puppy. Her status had been lost the moment it was discovered that she wasn't the person in the prophecy we were looking for. She was just an unfortunate girl that didn't have a wolf. Weak. But I had to admit, she did have her uses. Her doting made things easy for me, because she was so eager to please, and desperate to remain in my good graces. She cooked, she cleaned, every single thing she felt would get me to be a little kin

AshleyI had decided a while ago that I wasn't going to be helpless anymore, searching for who was going to save me. No, I was going to fight with every ounce of strength in my body.I reached out to my bedside table, haphazardly feeling around until my hand wrapped around the base of my bedside lamp. I held on to it, pressed my eyes shut, and swung with all of my might.Glass shattered as the lamp made contact with my assailant. It didn't exactly throw them off me, but it gave me the opening I needed. I picked up a glass shard, and this time, I didn't bother shutting my eyes because I needed to be sure of where I wanted to hit.The darkness receded as the pressure on my neck decreased, and my eyes seemed to adjust a little to the darkness, because I could now clearly see the silhouette of the person on top of me. Their face was strategically covered with some kind of cloth, leaving space for their eyes and nose. But their neck was very visible.Held on to the shard for a moment, thin

Ashley It didn't take me long to understand what the woman meant. There I was, pinned underneath a woman I barely knew, and getting accused of murdering her father. Some that a few hours ago, I would have never imagined as the outcome of the meeting with the representatives of the Great Houses.“No. I didn't kill your father!” I said as firmly as I could, groaning at one point from frustration and managing to throw her off after exerting my muscles more than I thought I could. “He was sick.”The woman panted as she sat on the floor, not looking ready to accept my words. Her eyes were wide with unbridled malice, and I wondered how it was possible for her expression to contain so much poison directed at someone she had just met simply because of words she'd been told. But in the same vein, I reminded myself that life was usually unfair, with people making assumptions about who you were simply because of what they'd heard. Like how Zane's mother and Clara had been convinced that I was

Ashley“You've killed him!” Cecilia’s voice vibrated with the weight of her accusation. “You killed him because he wouldn't agree to this union!” Her eyes were wide open, shaking with an eerie light. It was the first time since I'd met her that she seemed to be acting out of order. Out of fear. Even her fingers trembled.“You all saw us trying our best to save him,” I said calmly, rising to my feet after closing the man's open eyes. His death baffled me, but now we had bigger issues to focus on, like defending our dignity. “Why would we have gone through all the trouble of getting help if we intended to just let him die in the end?”She pondered on my question, but I doubted it was because it was a sensible question, but rather because she wanted to give an equally argumentative response.“Sister, be reasonable,” Clara interjected. “This is the last thing we need right now. We should be looking for what killed him, not throwing about accusations.”Like the snake that she was, Thea mov
